Now your text in bold makes it shocking. It would have made more sense if you could just place a duct tape on your mouth rather than commenting about the post.

Whats wrong with peeps these days, can't you just get a life without abusing someone everyday?

CareerRe: Future Of The Nigerian Engineer by Baba1010:
Nice one TemiBalrog,

I always maintain that the infrastructure collapse and the current state as well as the future of this country can be blamed on our Educational system. I mean how does a country such as this intends to grow in all ramifications when it neglects Research and Development.

Will the autonomy of these universities help this grave situation? (just thinking aloud). I think this will strengthen the unis in terms of funding and management rather than relying on the government, it might create a bit of intellectual competition amongst universities in terms of research and Business Engagements. A lot has to be done by the universities themselves in going out to engage these private institutions in a knowledge transfer programme as well as research & development other than what we see today. Most of the Nigerian universities I’ve been to, the only Private institution’s presence I get to see is mostly in the form of buildings (hostels, lecture theaters) which have little or no practical knowledge impact on the students.

Universities these days outsource their buildings contracts to other private institutions without even tasking the architecture, civil, electrical students and departments. These departments should be solution developers on their own for the govt and private institutions but what do we have to show for it? Students paying their way and same set of lecturers that also paid their way through their own uni.

Most of the Private institutions outside the country actually go back to the unis for solutions, headhunt brilliant chaps, sponsor students for phd based on their own research topic. For example, I’ve selected few research projects being carried out by a UK uni (durham) for private institutions.

3D Laser Mapping Ltd---------To implement a slope monitoring system through strain-rate based failure modelling from high-resolution 3D time-series date.
East Midlands Summit Media Ltd-----To construct and exploit statistical models which relate purchase behaviour with dynamic ecommerce price comparison sites to factors such as price elasticity, stock and site usability

Icona Solutions LTd-------To develop and introduce a new parallel framework for the aesthetica simulation software to improve performance and make effective use of multi-core, High Power Computing and distributed environments/multi-processor hardware

Network Mapping Ltd--------To develop and introduce modelling using electromechanical, geospatial and meteorological data to underpin the development of a web-based risk assessment tool for electrical transmission networks in the UK and overseas.

Could the technical colleges be revamped to equip the younger generations at an early stage?

At a time I was beginning to think the private universities will provide succor for the Nigerian system.......don’t know how far they’ve gone now though.

Coming to the Govt, I honestly do not have a clue. What does the NSE do? Ministry of Science & technology, Ministry of education?
Science/TechnologySuper-robot With Twin Guns Is Unveiled by Baba1010(op): 8:30pm On Aug 11, 2012
A massive robot that can carry a seated human pilot - and is armed with twin gatling guns - has gone on show in Japan.

Kuratas is described as the world's first giant boarding robot, no doubt inspired by the "mechs" of Japanese anime and manga comic book culture which features human controllers inside a walking vehicle.

But Kuratas is different in that it offers two types of control system.

The robot can be piloted directly, or remotely by a user connected to a 3G device such as a latop, tablet or smartphone.

The firm that made the robot, Suidobashi Heavy Industry, even released a tongue-in-cheek video showing how to operate the robot.

It was unveiled to the world at the Wonder Festival in the Tokyo suburb of Chiba.

Kuratas, which is referred to as the Vaudeville project in a promotional video, has two humanoid arms and four wheeled legs - and twin six-barrelled gatling guns - which fire BB-sized pellets at the rate of 6,000 rounds per minute.

According to Suidobashi, the weapons are fired when the operator smiles - a system known as "the smile shot".

Onlookers immediately likened the presence of the guns to the bipedal ED-209 from Paul Verhoeven's 1987 movie Robocop.

The Enforcement Droid was being presented to a board meeting when it malfunctioned, fatally opening fire on a hapless young OCP executive called Mr Kinney.

There was no such mishap at the Wonder Festival, and the robot was even allowed out onto the streets of Tokyo, where it was seen being driven through the traffic powered by a diesel engine.

The device, which travels at just 7mph, can be set to move in a low or high position to enhance the pilot's field of view.

It also features a Lohas launcher - which fires bottles of water - and Iron Crow hands and "feet".

The robot is huge - measuring four metres in height and weighing four tonnes.

But it also comes with a suitably huge price tag, setting potential purchasers back $1m (£637,000).

However, anyone wanting to buy one of the custom-built machines does have a choice of colours - including pink.

Nice invention tho, but come to think of it if any of these extremists lays his/her hands on this robot.....I can't just imagine the magnitude of the havoc that will be unleashed. It can even be controlled remotely. smiley

FamilyRe: Crazy Brother In Law & My Gullible Sister by Baba1010(op): 9:48pm On Feb 22, 2012
Thanks to all for the comments.

My Sis is the only girl-child in the family and you can imagine how the parents will want the best for her so all the expenses were been sorted out based on the fact that the husband claimed not to have the funds and the best  thing parents can do is to at least treat their son-in-law the same way they would treat their daughter.

She has however made up her mind to opt out of the marriage today after the husband came home smoking weed in their living room. She has moved out ds evening with the daughter to a temporary apartment while the police will be involved tmrw morning to ensure the husband sign some statements that nothing must happen to her, the child and other members of the wife's family as his target was the little funds he thinks the family has.

mutter:
Why did your family take care of the bill for two months huh
You all are quite gullible shocked. Do you think his people would not have come up with the money huh You all are enabling this man.
Hey Mutter, I hope the little note above explains why you think we were all gullible. How else do you want your in laws to treat you other than the way they treat their son/daughter.
