Buxton University was an unaccredited vendor of distance education that used a postal address in the United Kingdom.[1] It is associated with the Instantdegrees.com website.[2][3] Charter and accreditation status[edit] The institution did not hold a Royal Charter,[4] which is required for an institution in the United Kingdom to call itself a "university", per the Further and Higher Education Act 1992. However, the institution does not advertise itself as a university in the UK and uses a commercial (instead of academic) internet domain name - buxtonuniversity.co.uk. The domain, however, is registered to a "Camford Institute Subang Jaya" in Singapore.[5] Buxton claimed accreditation by the World Online Education Accrediting Commission,[6] as well as the Board of Online Universities Accreditation (BOUA), but neither agency is recognized as a higher education accreditor by the United States Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Buxton University is on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board list of "Institutions Whose Degrees are Illegal to Use in Texas".[7] History[edit] On its website, Buxton University stated that it was established in 1991[6] and had awarded a total of 54,000 degrees by 2002.[8] In August 2004, a San Antonio, Texas, television station investigating bogus academic credentials had an employee order a degree from the InstantDegrees.com website. The station reported that the employee received a Buxton University master's degree, summa cum laude, by mail within a few days after submitting an order.[9] In November of that year, a Knoxville, Tennessee, television station reported a similar experience in which an employee ordered a Ph.D. from InstantDegrees.com and received a back-dated Buxton University diploma by mail just five days after paying $160.[3] Both stations reported that the university was identified as being in London, but the mail had come from Portugal.[3][9] Also in 2004, The Washington Post reported that a hypnotist, William R. Runnells Jr., had called himself "Doctor" and that his degree was from the American Institute of Hypnotherapy and Buxton University.[10] In that article, the Post wrote, "...repeated Web searches and several calls to overseas operators did not turn up a listing for a Buxton University."[10] On November 29, 2006, the web version of NBC 4 in Columbus, Ohio, posted a transcript of a Target 4 Investigates program in which Kyle Anderson stated that "Five days after placing that order, I received this in the mail - global priority mail from Portugal. Inside, two signed and sealed diplomas from Buxton University in London, England. So for a few hundred bucks, I've got a Ph.D. in counseling, a master's of divinity in religion, some pretty official-looking letters from Buxton University, and their prospectus, which looks like it's printed on an ink-jet printer."[11] As of 2011 Buxton University has no web presence and appears to have ceased trading. According to the Higher Education Degree Datacheck website, Buxton University is not a valid UK degree awarding body.......wikipedia.com |
ollaxworld:Always do some basic research before you comment. People might take you for an illiterate. Do not take it personal. If we want Nigeria to be a 21st century nation, some people would have to pay the price and that is what you can see. Its rather sad that they dont have an alternative.

Google stores everything privately and here are the 10 important links (URLs) that will unlock everything Google knows about you. They are hidden somewhere deep inside your Google Account dashboard and they may reveal interesting details about you that are otherwise only known to Google. Let’s dive in. 1.Google stores a list of usernames and passwords that you have typed in Google Chrome or Android for logging into various websites. They even have a website too where you can view all these passwords in plain text. passwords.google.com 2. Google creates a profile of yourself based on the sites you visit, guessing your age, gender and interests and then uses this data to serve you more relevant ads. Use this URL to know how Google sees you on the web. www.google.com/settings/ads 3. You can easily export all your data out of the Google ecosystem. You can download your Google photos, contacts, Gmail messages and even your YouTube videos; head over the Google Takeout page to grab the download links. www.google.com/takeout 4.If you ever find your content appearing on another website, you can raise a DMCA complaint with Google against that site to get the content removed. Google has a simple wizard to help you claim content and the tool can be used to remove websites from Google search results that are scraping your content. support.google.com/legal 5.Your Android phone or the Google Maps app on your iPhone is silently reporting your location and velocity (are you moving and if yes, how fast are you moving) back to Google servers. You can find the entire location history on the Google Maps website and you have the option to export this data as the KML files that can be viewed inside Google Earth or even Google Drive. google.com/maps/timeline 6.Create a new Google Account using your existing email address. The regular sign-up process uses your @gmail.com address as your Google Account username but with this special URL, you can use any other email address as your username. accounts.google.com/SignUpWithoutGmail 7.Google and YouTube record every search term that you have ever typed or spoken into their search boxes. They keep a log of every Google ad that you have clicked on various websites, every YouTube video you have watched and, if you are a Google Now user, you can also see a log of all your audio search queries. OK Google. history.google.com (Google searches) history.google.com/history/audio (Voice searches) youtube.com/feed/history (YouTube searches and watched videos) 8. You need to login on to your Gmail Account at least once every nine months else Google may terminate your account according to their programme policies. This can be an issue if you have multiple Gmail accounts; so as a workaround, you can set up your main Gmail account as the trusted contact for your secondary accounts. Thus, Google will keep sending you reminders every few months to login onto your other accounts. www.google.com/settings/account/inactive 9. Worried that someone else is using your Google account or it could be hacked? Open the activity report to see a log of every device that has recently connected into your Google account. You will also get to know the IP addresses and the approximate geographic location. Unfortunately, you cannot remotely log out of a Google session. myaccount.google.com/security 10.Can’t locate your mobile phone? You can use the Google Device Manager to find your phone provided it is switched on and connected to the Internet. You can ring the device, see the location or even erase the phone content remotely. You can even find the IMEI Number of the lost phone from your Google Account. google.com/android/devicemanager Credits: Ozioma Ubabukoh |

Ottawa (CNN) Six people are dead after a shooting at a mosque in Quebec City, according to Quebec Provincial Police. Eight people were injured. The attack, which took place at the city's Quebec Islamic Cultural Center, is being investigated as an act of terrorism by police. In what was described as a coordinated attack, witnesses say at least two gunmen wearing black fired indiscriminately into the dozens of worshipers in the mosque. One person has been arrested, the department said. A previous statement indicated that two arrests had been made. It's not clear what caused the discrepancy. The Canadian province's premier, Philippe Couillard, called the shooting a terrorist act on Twitter. --Source: CNN |

If you want to succeed live in life, you must overcome your biggest fears. Some fears hold us back more than others. The nasty ones are like straight-jackets that restrain our abilities, making our dreams an impossibility. To be successful, you need to confront them head on. Here are seven common fears that you must overcome to be truly successful. 1. Fear of criticism Many people are afraid to live their dreams for fear of what others may think and say about them. Recently, I received a letter from a college student. “My parents want me to finish my master's degree, but I'm ready to start my business,” he wrote. “They would think I'm crazy if I dropped out now. What should I do?" This is a common theme from many people. But making decisions based on what people think -- even your closest friends and family -- will debilitate you for the rest of your life. Instead, think about what these same people would say if you did achieve success. To this college student, my advice is to think about what your parents would say if your business did succeed -- would they be proud of you? What if it was the best decision you’ve ever made? It very well could be. 2. Fear of poverty Many people are stuck in “survival mode.” "I'm 26 years old and I'm trapped in a cubicle for 40 hours a week,” a man recently wrote me. “I pay the bills and live an average life, but I know I can have a better job and reach my fullest potential. I'm tired of being bored and I want to use my gifts. However, I'm afraid that I'll run out of money. What do you suggest?" Related: 7 Major Steps for Achieving Massive Success The fear of poverty is crippling. However, this young man did express in his email that he had $10,000 in savings, which would be enough to help him quit his job for a few months and look for his dream occupation or business. Too many people settle for mediocrity because they think they must “survive” instead of “thrive.” The fear of poverty should never hold you back from your dreams. 3. Fear of old age (and death) There's a certain age where many people quit at life. Benjamin Franklin once said, "Most people die at 25 and are buried at 75." For some people, this metaphorical death -- when they decide to settle for a mediocre lifestyle -- comes earlier than 25. These people figure they can't make it happen, so they end up quitting in advance. Fear of old age can also be harmful when a person has to go through a major career transition. The thinking often goes something like this: "I'm 46. How do you expect me to learn about real estate if I've been in health insurance all my life? Plus, it has to work out perfectly, otherwise I won't be able to support my family." In the end, however, age is far less important than your belief in yourself. 4. Fear of failure This is when most people ask the “what if” question. Except typically, they phrase it in a negative way such as: “What if it doesn't work? What if no one likes it? What if it fails?" These are the wrong questions. Instead of thinking about all the ways you may fail, concentrate on all the ways you may succeed! Even if you fail or make a mistake, it gives you a chance to reflect and correct. You must fail before you succeed. Every master was once a disaster. So go ahead and try! Related: The Only 5 Ways You Can Become Rich 5. Fear of offending others Here’s what someone told me the other day: "I'm not going to call Human Resources until THEY call me for the job. Plus, I'll end up offending them and I don't want them to think I'm too needy. I'll just wait by the phone and they'll follow-up. If I don't get it, then it wasn't meant to be. And anyways, if I call them, it might ruin my chances and then I'll never get the job!" This is the wrong approach. I firmly believe people must be audacious in their actions if they are going to achieve their dreams. Many people are afraid of offending others with their self-promotion for fear that it comes across as “arrogance.” However, no one will recognize your talents unless you show them. 6. Fear of looking foolish Many times, we look at our wardrobes and say, "I won't wear that today. It will look foolish. Maybe another time." But why not now? We often act as if what we want to do is wrong, but we need to have more faith in our decision-making ability. We need to test our abilities, whether we are going to give a speech, write articles, shoot videos or anything else. Some of the greatest decisions in the world were fortuitous. Time after time, people have spontaneously deviated from their original plans and meandered their way into success. Find out who you are and what fits your style. Often, you'll have to start by finding out who you aren't. Trust your gut and know that you're making the right decision--every time. You'll only look foolish if you don't do anything at all. 7. Fear of success Too often, people are afraid of becoming themselves. They are afraid of their true “self-expression,” which is what real success is all about. They watch others and say, "You know, I could do that too" or "Why couldn't that be me?" In reality, there are afraid of receiving the same level of fame, wealth, recognition and love. Many of us were taught that we could never be truly successful in life. Many families operate on the belief system that becoming successful is unrealistic, so they never push their kids. They assume success is impossible because they haven't seen it for themselves. Instead of adopting this mindset, believe that you will achieve massive success down the road. At the end of the day, all of the above fears can be overcome by faith and purpose. If you know what you want and take the necessary actions to overcome your fears, you will achieve far more in your life than if you are held back by doubt and uncertainty. |
Pick what you can and trash the rest Courtesy:Mandi Woodruff | Yahoo Finance UK Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett is widely regarded as the most successful investor in the world. We decided to look at some of the best advice Buffett has ever shared about spending, saving and investing. 1. Read everything you can — the earlier, the better. “By the age of 10, I’d read every book in the Omaha public library about investing, some twice. You need to fill your mind with various competing thoughts and decide which make sense. Then you have to jump in the water – take a small amount of money and do it yourself. Investing on paper is like reading a romance novel vs. doing something else. You’ll soon find out whether you like it. The earlier you start, the better.” His favorite book: The 1949 tome “The Intelligent Investor” by Benjamin Graham. 2. Credit cards aren’t your friend. If you’re willing to pay 18% on a credit card, you will not come out well. 3. Invest in yourself. Imagine that you had a car and that was the only car you'd have for your entire lifetime. Of course, you'd care for it well, changing the oil more frequently than necessary, driving carefully, etc. Now, consider that you only have one mind and one body. Prepare them for life, care for them. You can enhance your mind over time. A person's main asset is themselves, so preserve and enhance yourself. 4. Most people would be better off not trading stocks. “Just pick a broad index like the S&P 500. Don't put your money in all at once; do it over a period of time. I recommend John Bogle's books — any investor in funds should read them. They have all you need to know." “If you invested in a very low cost index fund – where you don’t put the money in at one time, but average in over 10 years –you’ll do better than 90% of people who start investing at the same time.” “If you like spending 6-8 hours per week working on investments, do it. If you don’t, then dollar cost average into index funds. This accomplishes diversification across assets and time, two very important things.” 5. Know what you don’t know. There is nothing wrong with a ‘know nothing’ investor who realizes it. The problem is when you are a ‘know nothing’ investor but you think you know something. 6. Don’t follow the pack. You need to divorce your mind from the crowd. The herd mentality causes all these IQ's to become paralyzed. I don't think investors are now acting more intelligently, despite the intelligence. Smart doesn't always equal rational. To be a successful investor you must divorce yourself from the fears and greed of the people around you, although it is almost impossible. 7. Ask for a raise the right way. Write down all of the reasons why you believe you deserve a raise. Some of the things which will be important to demonstrate are reliability, honesty, and dependability. You might also be able to demonstrate that other people in the neighborhood are being paid more than you for the same service. Then go visit your employer and present your case. The better prepared you are to present your position, the more likely you will be successful. 8. Look at everyone else’s mistakes — and don’t repeat them. The best thing is to learn from other guy’s mistakes. [General George S.] Patton used to say, "It's an honor to die for your country; make sure the other guy gets the honor." There are a lot of mistakes that I've repeated. The biggest one, the biggest category over time, is being reluctant to pay up a little for a business that I knew was really outstanding. 9. Work shouldn’t always be about the money. You should do the job you love whether or not you are getting paid for it. Do the job you love. Know that the money will follow You're rich if you are working around people you like. You will make money if you are energetic and intelligent. This society lets smart people with drive earn a very good living. You will be no exception. 10. Communication is one of the greatest skills you can learn. If you improve your value 50% by having better communication skills, it’s another $500,000 in terms of capital value. You can dramatically increase your value by improving oral and written communication skills. 11. Detach yourself emotionally. In ‘97-’98, people weren’t rational. People got caught up with what other people were doing. Don’t get caught up with what other people are doing. Being a contrarian isn’t the key, but being a crowd follower isn’t either. You need to detach yourself emotionally. 12. Know your own motives for investing. Rationality is the only thing that helps you. One thing that could help would be to write down the reason you are buying a stock before your purchase. Write down “I am buying Microsoft at $300 billion because…” Force yourself to write this down. It clarifies your mind and discipline. This exercise makes you more rational. 13. Forget the Joneses. I’m not interested in cars and my goal is not to make people envious. Don’t confuse the cost of living with the standard of living. Just keep up with the Buffetts. We’ve always been fans of living within your means and income. You’ll have a lot more income later on. [Children] will follow the example of their parents. You shouldn’t increase your cost of living without improving your standard of living. 14. Don’t spoil your kids. I believe in giving my kids enough so they can do anything, but not so much that they can do nothing. 15. Choose your influencers wisely. I had a great teacher in life in my father. But I had another great teacher in terms of profession in terms of Ben Graham. I was lucky enough to get the right foundation very early on. And then basically I didn't listen to anybody else. I just look in the mirror every morning and the mirror always agrees with me. And I go out and do what I believe I should be doing. And I'm not influenced by what other people think. 16. Sometimes spending is OK, too. There are plenty of people I don’t advise to save. If you already have money in a 401(k) and Social Security and have a little left over, who is to say you should give up taking your children to Disney World and the associated happiness now for a 30-foot boat later vs. a 20-foot boat later. There are benefits to spending now. It is not always better to save 10% than 5%, but definitely better than spending 105%. You need to live a life that is true to yourself. We don’t encourage extreme frugality. You are not a better or worse person if you live differently from your neighbor. 17. Education is everything. One can best prepare themselves for the economic future by investing in your own education. If you study hard and learn at a young age, you will be in the best circumstances to secure your future. 18. Learn to be lovable. The most powerful force in the world is unconditional love. To horde it is a terrible mistake in life. The more you try to give it away, the more you get it back. At an individual level, it’s important to make sure that for the people that count to you, you count to them. I can't imagine people who aren't loved feel very successful. |
