Biritiko: You can always open the Stanbic IBTC money market fund anytime any day. Just go to their branch and they’ll help you. You can also do treasury bill anytime , go to your bank and ask them about it. They’ll tell you. Federal government savings bond subscription period is every first week of the month, You can follow that thread for update. you’ll need to open a stockbrocking account with a stockbroker for that. I use Stanbic IBTC stockbrokers . But there are a ton of other stock rockers too. Thanks |

Biritiko: I understand you bro. The only way you can lose your money in treasury bills or FGN bonds is if Nigeria cease to exist Do a little research too. I have more than 80% of all my savings in Federal government of Nigeria savings bond. The rest in stanbic IBTC Money market fund . I would have put all my money in bonds , but they’re not as liquid as the MMF . So I just had to put some in there cos there might be an emergency need of money, who knows . Na only the money I go use chop dy my bank account Smiles, bro na so o... Thanks, is there any opening at the moment? |

Op, I learnt the hard way too tho mine was spending unnecessarily on job search... After NYSC, I spend almost all the money I made(roughly 200k) from NYSC on job search which never yielded the desired result. Yes, you heard that right. Later, I took up a teaching job and set my targets straight ... in a year I was able to make extraordinary savings from the little salary that I'm earning. You just have to be a hustler bro, take every good opportunity that comes your way. Check this link for my story... https://www.nairaland.com/5439138/which-viable-business-start-n150kIt's not about running from women, it's about your decision(determination). Try to block every channel of unnecessary spending, having a good night understanding gf is an added advantage. Don't do something that you will regret over later, don't borrow money you know you keep thinking about if it turns to a bad debt, be wise bro |

kunleweb: Learn how to drive three months you're done. After school you can drive and make money as well as maintaining your teaching job
Start a day care centre or after school lesson I recommend after school lesson with focus on maths and English with a target of 100-200Naira daily per student. Then try to grow your student base to 25 students. 25students x 100 Naira daily is 2500 Daily x 20 days per months equals 50,000 Per month. If alternatively you collect 25Naira per month that's 25,000 Naira per month Thanks bro |

Oktane: a. It must be a high in demand produc that is used/consumed by the greater percentage of the population.
b. Make sure that the product is also what children and women buy.
c. It must be a product that is consumed one-off thus necessitating repeat purchases.
d. It must be a product that the shelf-life is not too long and also not too short.
e. It must be a product that must be easy to convey around for distribution since you do not have a car YET f. It must also be a product that you can start the sales with 1/3 of your savings. I will explain this further subsequently.
g. The product must also have the capacity to earn you at least 10 percent profit on every cycle of investment. In other words your 50,000.00 investment must give you at least 5,000 per week and nothing less. Thank you |

Oktane: I will therefore on the strength of this recommend that you for now retain your job and start a Part time trading business. And why part time you may wish to ask…..This is a very important question. I am suggesting part time for two major reasons;
1. I do not suggest that you leave the job from where you saved your initial capital. I would rather suggest that you consider that whatever business model that will allow you some time to run around to augment your 30k income. Grow the business side by side gradually but steadily.
When the business can earn a monthly profit that is equivalent to your monthly salary you may then commence the disengagement process. Commencing here does not mean immediate resignation. It may just mean increasing your working capital and expanding your reach and of course rejigging your strategy. This should lead you to doubling your profits within 6 months thus setting the tone for resignation into full time business.
2. As simplistic as it may sound, I will advise that you invest in trading. In our current economic reality, the most profitable investment that comes with guaranteed returns is trading especially if you take the time to identify a product that will appeal to the masses.
Several products exist in the FMCG spectrum. If you can start out and stick with packaged edibles within the 50,00 – 100.00 band then you might as well be on the right path. More specifically, I am recommending that you start with a product that is in very high demand for which no one else is distributing in your neighbourhood. The idea is for you to distribute these products either early in the morning before resuming in school or after school hours.
Whatever product you choose must have the following attributes; Good |

Oktane: h. Finally and this is very laughable but also tested and proven; the product of choice must be something that the Aboki/Mallam Kiosks sell.
Many people have no idea whatsoever of how much opportunity exists in servicing the neigbourhood Aboki kiosks.
Suffice to state here that supplying goods to Aboki is an entire enterprise by itself. If you can grow the number of Aboki clientele to 100 and you service them with goods worth just N1000 per week (and this is a gross underrepresentation) and all you glean from each one is 100.00 that would amount to 10k weekly, 40k monthly and 500k annually.
I have introduced a nairalander to this model and it is working for him like magic. A typical case of hidden treasure. Very nice |

Oktane: This may be quite long but if you can read through it you may just benefit from it one way or the other.
Dear OP (and other interested readers who may be in the same circumstances with the OP) I make the following suggestions.
OP please do not even try a business model that you do not understand. This is the first prong of my advice. In coming to seek advice here, I assume that you have not yet zeroed in in what you really should do. Do not blame yourself too much as it is not entirely your fault. Teaching (and indeed other salary paying opportunities) always does that to people. It has a way of sapping you completely of your ingenuity and also instilling significant fear in you but do not worry.
A lot of people will advise you to follow your passion and upgrade this passion into something viable and profitable. I personally do not think that passion is enough. Yes, passion will ignite your enthusiasm but please understand that it cannot go beyond certain borders. In order to excel in any business you embark on, ensure that you know as much as possible about your preferred business. Thanks so much |

WestAfrican: Hi friends, Sorry I haven't been able to reply youse as a result of been busy.
I just want to set some expectations here. This is what I wanted to discuss with the OP. I was going to see if he would be interested in some of the items I will be sending back to 9ja. They are random items ranging from cars, electronics, house hold items, bric-à-brac. I wanted to see if he would be interested in buying at a reasonable price and reselling to make his profit.
Secondly, if he wasn't interested in that and has an idea on what he feel will sell over in 9ja, I can help him buy them here if he's happy with the price etc.
Lastly, I may be able to suggest a few petty trade he can start up with.
There is nothing exceptional I was going to do except for the aforementioned. If that sound like what you would like to do, I will set up a Facebook page, upload images of some of the items that hasn't been boxed up for youse to see.
In the meanwhile, if you have any idea of something you do like to share, do not hesitate to DM me.
Sorry for the typos, I thought i do write up something here for now. Alright, I sent you a dm |

Torg77: What's the viable business you were thinking of doing ? The one u said u can't raise capital for right now Thank you. My planned business is to go into cosmetics, and do business for few years and then move up with my career, i.e dive into producing cosmetics(creams, perfumes, soaps etc), paints and candle later, because by then I would have raised minimum capital needed to set up a small or medium scale manufacturing or producing factory or company... From the above, the cost of setting up a business premise (i.e a shop or store) will be almost or more than what I have at hand, and in business, when someone is entering a business newly (even if I want to start little) I will need to buy in cash for the first few transactions before my supplier can start giving me credits... |
