Business / How To Start A Small Business In Nigeria, Funding And Growth Strategies by babatrigga(m): 8:40am On Sep 05, 2023
Starting a small business in Nigeria can be an exciting and rewarding endeavor. However, it can also be challenging, especially when it comes to funding and growth strategies. In this article, we’ll discuss some important step in starting and growing a small business in Nigeria.

Conduct a Market Research

Do not start your business on mere guesses without carrying out a thorough market research. The consequences of not studying your prospective market before starting your business might come back to haunt you in the future.

Market research enables you to identify your target audience, market conditions and your competition. You can then devise a strategy to reduce potential risks and help you standout from the competition.

Understanding what influences the purchase decisions and behavior of your target audience members will equip you with the correct strategy to make your business a success.

Develop a Business Plan

The next important step will be to develop a business plan with the information you’ve acquired from your market research. A business plan will serves as a functional road map for the growth of your business. Rekodex.com

A good business plan should include in details your business goals, descriptions of your business, products, services and your financial projections. In short your business plan should outline you business goals and how you plan on achieving them.

Leverage Technology

Technology is crucial to business growth especially for small businesses in Nigeria. You can leverage technology by creating a website for your business, using social media platforms for marketing, and using digital payment systems.

For example, financial technologies such as Opay and Moniepoint has made it easier for small businesses to collect payments from customers without transaction failure.

Build a Strong Team

No matter how good your product or service is, you can’t do everything alone. Build a strong team of employees, partners, or advisors who can help you achieve your goals. Your team should share your vision and be committed to the success of your business.

Focus on Customer’s Satisfaction

Meeting your customer’s satisfaction is important for the success of your business, and should be a priority. Ensure that you provide excellent customer service, listen to customer feedback, and address any complaints promptly.

Explore new markets

As your small business grows, explore new markets to expand your customer base. You can consider exporting your products or services to other countries or expanding to other states in Nigeria.

Funding Your Business

There are many ways to fund your business in Nigeria. You can start with your own savings or money gotten from family or close friends.
Business / Cheap Insurance Plans For Small Business Owners by babatrigga(m): 8:33am On Sep 05, 2023
Understanding the unique challenges faced by small businesses can help you become successful or grow more successful, although it doesn’t stop at knowing the kind of perils that may affect you, finding a solution to these challenges will help to minimize loss or damage to your products. Small scale businesses refer to enterprises that are characterized by a relatively small size in terms of workforce, revenue, and production capacity. These businesses typically have a limited number of employees and operate on a smaller budget compared to larger corporations or companies.

Challenges faced by small scale business owners include health challenge or illness of the workers, natural disasters (e.g. flood, fire outbreak, pest, drought etc.), theft issues, etc.

Getting a personal security guard or well built cyber security system for theft issues in your small scale business is “not” an effective risk management decision to make, same as spending large sum of money to construct drainage systems to prevent flood from destroying your goods.

However, there are companies ready to help you manage the aforementioned risks or challenges in whatever business you do, these companies are called the Insurance Companies, and they are all over different countries of the world including Nigeria. Of course the government tires constantly to invent solutions that will be needed to overcome the constraints faced by these small scale business owners by bringing in more access to credit or loans, more reliable power supply and internet access, and organizing business orientation programs. Yet, the risks that petty traders face such as those from natural disasters like flood, weather, fire outbreak, pest, drought etc, are largely left untouched.

This is where insurance comes in to address most of the risks, though not all of them. In this article, we have explained in simple terms, what insurance companies do and their precise efforts towards risks management in small scale businesses like BaseNaija. Also, we are here to guide you on which insurance plan to choose, why you should go for it and a list of best insurance companies you can safely work with.

What Insurance means and what companies that offers them do

From background knowledge, the first thing that should come to your mind when you hear the concept Insurance is “protection against financial risk or loss. There are so many definitions of insurance by different authors, but each definition centres its concern on those guarantee offered by insurance companies to an insured individual. Insurance creates a relationship between an individual who wants financial protection and an insurance company who offers the financial protection to the individual under an agreement or a policy.

The policies determine how much the insured will pay the insurance company or how long. The amount of money paid to the insurer or company called a premium usually come in form of a contract that lasts for a particular duration then it expires and no damage or loss is guaranteed except if the insured person renews the contract. More on Rekodex.com

Irrespective of age, financial status, education or health status, we all need insurance because its major benefit compensate us from uncertainties; things we cannot prevent from happening. This may include disease, natural disasters like fire, flood, or drought, or it may be pests or other setbacks from within our environment.

Insurance does not only compensate, it gives room for you the insured party, your properties and also creates financial security and opportunities for families (e.g. in life insurance) risks are not completely guaranteed by the insurer (and in some cases where they are, highly affect cost of premiums and/or revenue generated by the insurer) there may be limitations/exceptions and those damages not covered are clearly stated in the policy.

Although it is advisable you know what is covered and what is not covered as these are one among the key factors used for determining premium costs. (I.e. how much you will pay an insurance company for a policy) the guide below gives you all you need to know about premiums and how to acquire them at a cheaper rate.

What is a premium?

We can clearly understand premiums as the money an individual pays an insurance company under a policy in order to enjoy insurance benefits for a particular period of time. Each insurance company tries to reduce the premium cost for most of insurance policies but at the same time try to displace guaranteed risks so as to maintain the periodic generation of revenue in the industry and to avoid liability issues, some small companies even acquire reinsurance in order to meet up with demands or guarantee.

Anybody that wants to purchase an insurance policy will want a cheaper premium, but it’s safer to understand that premium costs are determined by certain criteria depending on the type of insurance policy in quest for.

How small scale business insurance works

Just the way it’s done in any scale of business, small scale business who want to minimize loss from the business acquire a plan by paying for a policy. The amount of money or the premium to be paid is decided considering factoring like, what you when to protect, how many products you want coverage for, and the state of your business. The next section explains different coverage suitable for small scale businesses.

Music/Radio / Nigerian Music – Through Time by babatrigga(m): 9:11pm On Feb 28, 2023
The history of Nigerian music is a rich and diverse one that reflects the country’s cultural and social history. Nigeria is a country with over 250 ethnic groups and multiple languages. This diversity is reflected in the music produced in the country.

Pre-colonial era:

Before the arrival of European colonizers, Nigerian music was mainly traditional and centered around ceremonies, rituals, and storytelling. Music was an essential part of everyday life and was used to communicate with the gods, ancestors, and other spiritual beings. Drums, flutes, and other traditional instruments were used to create rhythmic beats and melodies. They were transmitted from one generation to the next.

Colonial era:

The arrival of European colonizers in the late 19th century brought new musical influences to Nigeria. Christian hymns and Western classical music were introduced. Many Nigerians began to incorporate these styles into their traditional music. This led to the emergence of a new genre called highlife, which blended Western melodies and instruments with traditional African rhythms.

Post-independence era:

Nigeria gained its independence from Britain in 1960. As a result, the country experienced a cultural and musical revolution. The 1960s saw the rise of Afrobeat, a genre that combined West African rhythms, jazz, and funk. Fela Kuti, a Nigerian musician, was the leading figure in the Afrobeat movement. He used his music to address social and political issues in the country.

In the 1970s, juju music emerged as a popular genre in Nigeria. Juju music is a fusion of traditional Yoruba music with Western pop and jazz, and it quickly gained popularity throughout the country. Artists such as King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey became household names and brought Nigerian music to a global audience.

Contemporary era:

In the 1980s and 1990s, new genres such as hip-hop, reggae, and R&B began to emerge in Nigeria. The music industry in Nigeria became more commercialized. So, artists began to focus on producing music that would appeal to a wider audience. This led to the creation of new genres such as Afropop, which blended African rhythms with Western pop and electronic music.

Nigeria has produced many iconic music artists over the years. Today, the Nigerian music industry is home to some of the most talented and innovative musicians in the world. These artists have not only captured the hearts of Nigerians but have also gained international recognition. Making them global ambassadors of Nigerian music.

These ancient melodies, rooted in the traditions of Africa’s diverse cultures, have a universal appeal that transcends time and space, connecting us to our shared human experience.
Health / 10 Things You Should Do To Enjoy Sex With Your Partner by babatrigga(m): 8:22pm On Aug 21, 2022
Sexual intercourse is a form of physical activity controlled by one's emotions and body language of their partner. Though there people with different sexual urges; their is probably nobody that completely dislike the ecstasy from love making.

You must have seen junk of articles attempting to explain how to enjoy sex with your partner, telling you to find a private environment, look sexy, mourn, make first move etc., these tips may work, or may not work, depending on your luck or who your partner is.

Just the way we have different food choices and hobbies, our sexual lifestyles varies, and may oscillate from time to time; or may change completely.

Some people see sexual intercourse as intimacy (especially introverts), while other people fantasize exploring different partners just for fantasy. Your ability to enjoy sexual intercourse, strictly depends on some criteria such as

Your sexual urge before the act
Your partner's knowledge about it
Your emotional health
Body language, and
Health status

For each tip highlighted below, we try to look at the sexual lifestyles of both partners. It's not just about self satisfaction; our interest is to ensure you are well tipped to satisfy your partner too.

Sexual intercourse is all about what you can give, how much you give, and how much you receive back...once there's an equilibrium between the level of sexual excitement and satisfaction of both partners. Just know you both did a good job.

Study your partner

Though every point contained in this article is essential, but the first thing to consider is to study your partner's body language, your perception about sex, what it feels like to them, and most essentially what they want.

You can decide to have an online chat with them before the act, or carefully observe them during sex. Each move you make, you observe their responses. This tip will help you avoid unnecessary stress that may spoil your mood or make you exhausted untimely.

Finding a quiet or isolated environment for sex may not be necessary, some partners get turned on more while making love in a tight corner or hidden spot where people are nearby e.g. hotel toilets, offices, hospitals, etc.

Some people get more Hot during a fight ( mostly verbal arguments) with their partner and end up having hot sex while breathing heavily. While other people may see attempts to have sex with them during an argument as "manipulation"

The fact that someone doesn't moan during sex do not mean they don't enjoy it. That's their body physiology. Your partner may find it weird, you just have to talk to them about it.

Also, other people may prefer watching pornography before the act, while some people prefer getting sexually aroused by watching their partners unclothedness.

We have more instances illustrating variations in sexual lifestyles, but let's leave you to learn from your partner, hence each tip may not work for them.

Be Hygienic

There's probably nobody that is comfortable with having intercourse with a partner who has bad breath or does keep their room tidy. Rather, a clean and safe environment enhances sex vibes

There are common cases of people getting turned off because of bad odour or a hot, dirty room during sexual intercourse.

Good personal hygiene not only improves our reproductive health but also prevents risks of contracting diseases or infections.

Keep fit

Exercises are important too for yourself, and to meet your partner's needs.

Personal reasons may include to fight infections that affect performance, or for flexibility during the act. Some partners sexually appreciate physical statue or well built body shapes.

Use multiple stimulation techniques

A man's penis becomes erect mostly by thoughts from his head of what he sees or ears, or from touch, so does a woman's to become wet. Sexual stimulation continues, or may even increasing during sex. Except after orgasm or ejaculation.

You will find sex boring once there's no sexual stimulation, there's no to continuously romance your partner, tell them exactly what you feel (without exaggerations), and how you want them badly.

Confidence during sex is recommended. Do not be afraid to try something new, probably a stimulation technique or a sex position. This needs to be a bit disobedient, sometimes your new move may be appreciated by your partner.

Do not repeat any new move they do not appreciate; as we said earlier, everybody is unique in a way.

Don't be selfish

It's not just about your feelings, some people just want to be in control without minding what their partner feels. You don't have to make it look like submissiveness is a favour they are doing you.

Like the traffic lights, listen to your partner and allow them to control you too.

Health / 6 Common Eye Problems Or Infections And Their Treatment by babatrigga(m): 4:58pm On Aug 13, 2022
The eyes act as the gateway between imaginations and reality. They serve as the organs that sense and judge everything happening around us.

The functions of the eyes are not just limited to sight alone. The eyes also help us to maintain body balance or posture. This is appreciated more when we try to make some moves with our eyes closed, or when there's a problem with one or both eyes.

The common eye defects or diseases include:

Cataract

As we age, some illnesses invade our body due to the way the entire body processes reduce their efficiency, one one such complication from reduction in visual acuity is cataract.

Cataract is a disease commonly caused by old age, mostly from age 65 above. If you have cataracts, your eye lenses become cloudy, vision becomes blurry and worsen as time goes on.

Night Blindness

Night blindness is medically called Nyctalopia. It's a complication from retina defect caused by deficiency of vitamin A. People with Night blindness have difficulty in seeing at night or through poor light sources.

The black spot in the middle of the eyes ( the pupil) controls the amount of light reaching the retina by adjusting its size according to the quantity of light coming into the eyes; this enables us to see in dim light and in broad daylight.

Anything that affects the pupils will affect accommodation, night blindness is caused by Pupil damage, cataract, myopia, or sometimes by the prolonged use of certain medications for eye treatment.

Lazy Eye

This eye defect is also called amblyopia. It is characterized by reduced visual acuity in one two the two eyes. Visual signals from the weaker or affected eye may not be interpreted by the brain.

Amblyopia occurs mostly at the tender ages of childhood. If left untreated, it can result to a permanent eye defect.

There is no clear knowledge of what causes lazy eye, although people at risk of suffering it include infants born prematurely, heredity, or diseases occurring during pregnancy.

Health / Natural Ways To Boost The Immune System by babatrigga(m): 12:06pm On Jul 26, 2022
The Immune system is the body's defence system, that fights against disease-causing microorganism. It is a complex network of cells, tissues, and organs. They work together to fight infections and other diseases.

Though it is not easy as many supplements and products claiming to help boost immunity, several dietary and lifestyle changes may strengthen your body’s natural defenses and help you fight harmful pathogens, or disease-causing organisms. The following lifestyle choices can help improve your Immune strength;

Regular Exercise: Enough exercises helps improve blood circulation in the body, which helps the Immune System function more efficiently. Studies have shown that engaging in as little as 30 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous exercise every day helps stimulate your immune system.

Exercises can also reduce the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and blood pressure.

Get Adequate Sleep: Getting enough sleep boost your Immunity while poor quality sleep is linked to a higher susceptibility to sickness. During sleep, the body releases cytokines which is a protein required when you are attacked by a pathogen or are under stress.

The level of cytokines increase during sleep, and therefore lack of sleep hinders the body's ability to fight infections.

Eat Healthy: Healthy diets is key to strong Immunity. Taking plenty of vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, lean protein and healthy fats, makes the micronutrients that play a role in maintaining your immune system available.

Just as you try to eat well to make the micronutrients available for proper Immune functions, be aware, however, that too much of some vitamins and minerals can be harmful.

Drink Water Always: Staying hydrated helps improve Immunity. Water helps eliminate toxins from the body, thereby preventing toxins from building up and having a negative impact on your immune system.

Also a fluid in your circulatory system called lymph, which carries important infection-fighting immune cells around your body, is largely made up of water. Being dehydrated slows down the movement of lymph, sometimes leading to an impaired immune system.

Health / 10 Things You Should Do Immediately After Sex by babatrigga(m): 11:28am On Jul 10, 2022
Sex is undoubtedly an intense form of amazing sexual and emotional excitement that relieves the body from the physical and mental stress we face during the day or night.

However, let's not forget all these fantasies and ecstasy can be ruined if we cannot maintain good reproductive health.

We might have experienced cases of awful vaginal odour, lack of penile erection, mood swing, vaginal discharge, or pain during sexual intercourse. All these instances can spoil the fun from love making with our partners. Today we have highlighted 10 useful hints on what to do after having sexual intercourse. Take a breath and read in between lines. You are at the right spot.

Dispose used toys and condoms

Immediately you finish making love to your partner,  carefully remove your condoms and avoid contact with fluids(blood, sperm, or vaginal fluids) on the surface of the condom. intimacy gadgets should be washed clean and sterilize if necessary.

Wash off or take a bath

Some partners engage in deep MouthAction like cunnilingus or bow jobs and fingering, this act. though quiet quite pleasant,  may transfer pathogens from the external environment (foods particles from mouth, creams or germs in our hands) into our partners body. It then sets as the genesis to yeast or bacteria grow.

Urinary tract infections are common consequences of poor vaginal  health maintenance. Our attention seem to focus more on the female counterpart because of the "open" nature of their sexual organs.

Change underwear

After bathe, do not  repeat the previous underwear you wore before the intercourse, as pre-intimacy might have contaminated it with germs from your partner's body parts.

Also remember to wash the underwear you remove from your body immediately. Keeping them for a long period before washing may cause stains that are difficult to remove.

Drink water

It's no news that sweating occurs during sex, due to increased blood flow, muscle contractions, and body demands. The body releases salt and water to balance changes in our body temperature. Thus, we are dehydrated after intercourse. A glass of water or two is advisable. You can take a hypertonic solution (e.g. energy drink) if you feel so dehydrated or tired.
