This brings us to the unfolding situation in our country today. It appears that the Fulani leaders of yesteryear were far more honest and forthcoming in the expression of their views and disposition about the south than the ones of today. Let us consider the following. In an essay titled ‘’Nigeria’s History and A Morbid Obsession With Unity’’ written in Vanguard Newspaper on October 6th 2013, Dr. Douglas Anele wrote the following: ‘’Now, it should be pointed out that before the July 29th 1966 (northern military ‘’revenge’’) coup, prominent Northern leaders, led by the Sardauna of Sokoto, much more than their Southern compatriots, disliked the unification or amalgamation of Northern and Southern Nigeria. For instance, at the inauguration of the Richards Constitution in 1947, Tafawa Balewa, who later became Prime Minister, declared, “We do not want, Sir, our Southern neighbours to interfere in our development. …I should like to make it clear to you that if the British leave Nigeria now at this stage the Northern people will continue their uninterrupted conquest to the sea.” At the General Conference held at Ibadan in January 1950, the Emirs of Zaria and Katsina made it quite clear that “unless the Northern Region is allotted fifty per cent of the seats in the central legislature, it will ask for separation from the rest of Nigeria on the arrangements existing before 1914.” In March 1953 during a heated debate at the Federal House of Representatives, Ahmadu Bello (who later became Premier of the North region) remarked that “the mistake of 1914 has come to light and I should like it to go no further.” When a delegation from the Action Group decided to visit Kano in May that same year “to educate the Northern peoples about the crisis in the House of Representatives over the self government motion,” Inua Wada, Kano Branch Secretary of the NPC, declared in a speech two days before its scheduled arrival that, ‘’having abused us in the South these very Southerners have decided to come over to the North to abuse us’’. Although the visit was cancelled eventually, it did not prevent the Kano riots in which scores of Ndigbo were murdered’’. (END OF QOUTE). Wada, who later became Minister of Works in Tafawa Balewa’s government, was particularly virulent in his choice of words and many are of the view that his fiery submissions and threats of violence resulted in the Kano riots of 1953 which took place two days later and in which thousands of southerners were slaughtered. To reiterate this point Bobson Gbinije, in his article titled ‘’Igbo and Northern Leaders: Hate and National Cohesion’’ which was published on September 2015, wrote the following: ‘’The invidious and inveterate mutual hatred and antagonisms between Easterners and Northerners through inspired hate speeches and media publications, dates back many years before independence. Sporadic out breaks in Northern towns, particularly the Jos riots of 1945, had been occurring in the past but the British Administration barely took them seriously. However, after the ruthless massacre in Kano in May, 1953 the British were constrained to look into the matter by setting up a commission of inquiry on the Kano disturbances. The Report on the Kano disturbances posited that the remote causes suggested at the time could not by any means be referred specifically to Easterners. The attacks were attributed to the clash of cultures, the disparities in economic and social development between Northerners and Southerners, the occupation of strategic posts in the administrative, technical and commercial sectors of Northern life by Southerners and the leveling impact of Western religion and political ideologies introduced into the North by Southerners. It is on record that there were series of polemical and aggressive verbal exchanges between Northern Representatives and the Action Group Members during the Lagos Conference. But the fuse that really set off the explosion in May, 1953 was the proposed visit to Kano of an Action Group (AG) delegation led by Chief S. L. Akintola, an Ex-Minister (who was Chief Obafemi Awolowo's deputy and who later became the Premier of the Western Region) . The organization and preparation of Northerners for the riots did not suggest to Easterners that they would be the main object of the attack. Northerners denied in 1953 that the massacres were ever organized or premeditated. But it is on record that two days before the disturbances began on Thursday, May 14, 1953, Mallam Inua Wada, then Secretary of the Kano Branch of the Northern Peoples Congress (NPC) and later Federal Minister of Works, convened a meeting of the Native Administration sectional heads at the works Department in Kano during which he made a very ill-advised and provocative speech against the proposed visit of the Action Group delegation led by Akintola. Inua Wada said, inter alia, ‘’having abused us in the south these very Southerners have decided to come over to the North to abuse us but we have determined to retaliate the treatment given us in the South. We have therefore organized about 1,000 men ready in the city to meet force with force. We are determined to show to Akintola and his group what we can do in our land when they come. The Northern Peoples Congress has declared a strike in all Native Administration Offices for Saturday, 16th May, 1953. We shall post a sufficient number of men at the entrance of every office and business place and we are prepared to face anything that comes out of this business’’. (END OF QOUTE) It appears to me that with the ‘’shut up’’ rhetoric of Rabiu Kwankwaso we may have another Inua Wada in the making. Whichever way history must not be allowed to repeat itself and southerners must not be massacred. It is also clear that the violent and provocative rhetoric of todays northern leaders will not go unanswered. Let us pray for the peace of our nation and let us hope that men like Rabiu Kwankwaso do not cause a second civil war. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10153663532527210&id=62188827209&refid=17&_ft_=top_level_post_id.833176270135867%3Atl_objid.833176270135867%3Athid.100003305051194%3A306061129499414%3A2%3A0%3A1446361199%3A-8247449352312838460&__tn__=%2As |
Buhari Is A Ticking Time Bomb With A Dangerous Agenda Mr Femi Aribisala predicted on Twitter that when critical decisions are to be taken, Yemi Osinbajo, the token Southerner in Aso Rock, would be sent to go and buy “guguru and epa.” This has proved prescient. The vice president was barred from attending a national security briefing on the grounds that he did not have security clearance. But who can have more clearance than a man elected by the people? How did Buhari himself get his? On August 30th, 2015, the vice president was again publicly embarrassed when armed men shut down the Aso Rock Chapel, preventing him from worshipping there. After shouting myself hoarse, warning Nigerians not to elect Buhari as president, I decided to keep quiet and watch things unfold from the sidelines. Fela said about Buhari’s first-coming: “The people wey no sabi dey jubilate, the people wey sabi dey shake their head.” It is now passed 100 days since Muhammadu Buhari became president and many of my worst fears have been confirmed. President Buhari is a ticking time-bomb that might precipitate the disintegration of Nigeria! Presidential dictatorship In the middle of a national economic crisis, the president has been comatose. He made himself the Sole Administrator of Nigeria; a role not envisaged by the Constitution. These 100 days, Buhari has been the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Petroleum, as well as the Attorney-General. He has been the Minister of Education, even though we are yet to see his school-leaving certificate. He alone has been the minister in all the ministries of the federal government. As a result, the country has ground to a halt. There has been no national direction, no economic policy; no government. Only bombastic anti-corruption rhetoric. Not surprisingly, the economy has gone from bad to worse. Official reports from the National Bureau of Statistics indicate that while like Nero, Buhari fiddles as Nigeria burns, our GDP has plummeted to 2.35 percent; a 40 percent decline under Buhari. Job-creation has dropped by 69 percent. The CBN, in its Monetary Policy Committee Report of August 2015, complained that: “lack of fiscal directives is behind (Nigeria’s) current economic woes. ” This is a big indictment of the administration. The coming of Buhari has brought about stagnation in domestic and foreign direct investments. The stock market has nose-dived, with investors scared away due to uncertainties arising from the government’s indecisiveness in the face of national economic adversity. One-chance presidency It is now clear that Buhari obtained votes from Nigerians during the election through false pretences. Contrary to his highfalutin campaign promises, he has not stabilised the international price of oil. Instead, it has fallen drastically from $60 to $40. Buhari has not made the naira equal to the dollar. As a matter of fact, it has depreciated considerably under his short watch. He has not used his vaunted military experience to defeat Boko Haram. On the contrary, the insurgency has become far more deadly, with over 1,000 innocent Nigerians killed within just three months. Buhari’s promised free meals for school- children, allowances for discharged Youth Corpers, and 5,000 naira monthly allowance for indigent Nigerians have all turned out to be poppycock. He has not even mentioned the coal industry in Enugu, how much more made any moves to revive it. His boast to APC governors that he will recover billions of dollars of stolen funds within three months has proved to be hogwash. With the election over, he quickly backtracked on Chibok, saying: “We do not know if the Chibok girls can be rescued.” In my years as a public policy analyst, I have never seen a government anywhere spend its vital first 100 days doing absolutely nothing like this one. In defence of the president’s ineptitude, Lai Mohammed said in a recent interview that: “Buhari never promised he was going to do anything in 100 days, that’s the honest truth.” This admission by the mouthpiece of the APC confirms conclusively that President Buhari has wasted 100 days of Nigerian lives. Stolen achievements Such improvements as are noticeable are legacies of the Jonathan administration. It is the height of deception that the do- nothing Buhari government has been trying to take credit for them. Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Chairman, Sam Amadi, stressed that the recent improvements in power supply are the result of the efforts made by the Jonathan administration . That should put paid to bogus attempts to attribute them to the effects of Buhari’s “body language.” Neither does “body language” bring about a turnaround maintenance of our refineries. The credit for this goes to “clueless” Jonathan, and not to “Baba Go-Slow.” If we are now celebrating the end of polio in Nigeria, it has nothing to do with Buhari, and everything to do with Jonathan. If we are indeed well on our way to self- sufficiency in rice production, it is because of the activities of Jonathan, and not because of the inactivity of Buhari. In three months, the Buhari administration has added nothing to past achievements. On the contrary, it seems inclined to bring things to a standstill. Media blackmail Instead of providing effective leadership, Buhari has opted for a campaign of calumny against the Jonathan administration . Day-in, day-out, we are regaled with outrageous declarations without substantiation about how bad the previous government was, and by how much it ran down the economy. Only the gullible would fail to realise this is just a pathetic attempt to divert attention from the incompetence of the Buhari government. Buhari claims he inherited an empty treasury. Nevertheless, he found over $30 billion in our foreign reserves. He says: “Jonathan’s ministers stole 150 billion dollars,” without telling us where he got this outlandish figure from. We are told one million barrels of oil were stolen every day under Jonathan, without any shred of evidence to back this up. Buhari even went on record to claim Jonathan diverted $700 million from the $1.1 billion Chinese loan for the Lagos/Kano rail project. But the evidence shows the loan was for three different projects, with only $400 million earmarked for Lagos/Kano rail. Governor Oshiomhole of Edo State says a senior official of the Obama administration revealed that a Jonathan minister stole $6 billion dollars, no less. This has been denied by the Americans. He claims a consultancy fee of 140 billion naira was paid for the Second Niger Bridge project. However, the Bureau of Public Procurement says the total cost of the bridge is 108 billion naira . Oshiomhole should face his state and desist from further cheap newspaper blackmails. Someone needs to remind the APC that election campaigns are over. Once bitten, Nigerians are now twice shy. APC won by manipulating the media. It cannot expect to rule using the same trickery. Anti-corruption media distractions Buhari’s so-called fight against corruption has already become a farce. The first salvo was to lock up former Jigawa State governor and prospective 2019 PDP presidential candidate, Sule Lamido and his two sons in jail with extreme prejudice. Then when Saraki rocked the boat by steamrolling himself to the Senate presidency without APC endorsement, his wife was peremptorily invited for lunch by the EFCC. The Senate has now retaliated by putting the EFCC Chairman himself on trial on allegation he stole trillions of recovered naira . The truth of the matter is that any anti- corruption probe is likely to open up a can of worms. Buhari is surrounded by corrupt politicians. Indeed, the APC is so corrupt, the president has not been able to find 36 “clean” ministers among his colleagues in over 100 days. That is some kind of a negative record. After claiming he did not have the 27.5 million naira required for the APC presidential nomination papers and had to borrow it, Buhari now claims he has 30 million naira sitting pretty in his bank account . How does he account for this discrepancy? Some of us are also wondering where he got all the money used to finance his expensive election campaign. If the president wants to probe, he should go right ahead and do so. However, the current shenanigans of trying people in the media , and declaring everybody PDP guilty without trial, only attests to the lack of sincerity. APC governors, including Amaechi and Kwankwaso, are also accused of corruption. Fashola of Lagos is alleged to have spent 78 million naira setting up a personal website . These are the president’s political buddies. We are waiting to see if his famous probe will also reach them. Fighting corruption on the pages of newspapers cannot surely be the only preoccupation of a government. One trenchant observer said: “Probing is not governance neither is body language a substitute for economic policy .” Northern agenda With 100 days in office, Buhari’s ethnic chauvinism is no longer hidden. We have now discovered that what he meant to say on his inauguration is: “I belong to every Northerner, and I belong to no Southerner.” The president went on official trip to the U.S. without an economic agenda, but with 29 Northerners and only four Southerners. While there, he declared that: “The constituents (that) gave me 97 percent cannot in all honesty be treated on some issues with constituencies that gave me five percent.” We now understand his thinking. Fulani herdsmen continue to kill innocent farmers while Buhari sees no evil and hears no evil; after all, he called them “my people” to Lam Adesina of Oyo State. Of the 32 critical appointments he has made so far, 27 are from his native North and only five from the South. Not a single appointment from the South-East. When queried about this blatant discrepancy, Femi Adesina from the South, and not Garba Shehu from the North, was craftily trotted out. Tongue-in-cheek, we are told the appointments were made strictly on merit . But since when did the North acquire a monopoly of merit in Nigeria? How can the region with regularly low cut-off JAMB scores suddenly become the citadel of the most meritorious public servants in the country? Do-nothing government The Buhari administration is shaping out to be the most incompetent and inconsequential in the history of Nigeria. It is full of sound and fury signifying nothing. What exactly was the point of electing a “Mr. Do-Nothing” as president of a country of 170 million people? After 100 days, it should now be abundantly clear that Buhari is not qualified to be president of 21st century Nigeria. The president has neither agenda nor direction. His cardinal objective is apparently the prosecution of Northern hegemony. The APC desperately needs to organise an intervention, before Buhari drives the country into the ditch. How can an ethnic champion be expected to lead Nigeria into the future? It is time to admit it. Electing Buhari as president was a big national blunder. 1. Only Southerners have been accusing
fellow Southerners of corruption.
Oshiomhole has been attacking Ngozi
Okonjo-Iweala as if Ngozi turned down his
marriage proposal. The same Oshiomhole
tried to make nonsense of Akinwumi
Adeshina’s successes in the agriculture
sector. Ambode tried to pull Fashola down
and successfully smeared him with stains.
Maybe that’s why Fashola did not get the
Chief of Staff role. I’m yet to see a
Northerner accuse another Northerner of
corruption, even when they belong to
different parties. The closest a Northerner
got was when the new Kano State Governor
attacked Rabiu Kwankaso but he quickly
sheathed his sword and even disowned
previous reports of attacks. Why are we like
this?
.
2. Are Southerners the only ones who are
corrupt? Were there no northerner heading
the ministries and parastatals? Did the
outgone Comptroller-General of Customs,
Abdullahi Dikko not have an alleged case of
certificate forgery but he still served out his
tenure until he resigned voluntarily? I’m not
in support of corruption under any guise
but the fight against corruption must not be
seen to be sectional.
.
3. How come it’s easier for the President to
believe that Sanni Abacha was not corrupt
in spite of recovered loot while it is so easy
for him to believe Goodluck Jonathan is
irredeemably corrupt?
.
4. I still remember that aside from God,
Tinubu made Tambuwal what he is today.
The same Tambuwal would later call Femi
Gbajabiamila ‘incompetent’ and rated
Dogara as more competent. The same
Tambuwal was propped up by Tinubu, a
Southerner against a fellow Southerner,
Mulikat Akande. Obasanjo was very key to
denying Goodluck Jonathan a second term.
A good number can still recall how OBJ tore
his PDP membership card in public glare.
The Northerners find it easy to support
themselves but we are always pulling
ourselves down. Babangida Aliyu, Sule
Lamido and all the other Northern
Governors including the former PDP
Chairman Adamu Muazu often times
refused to campaign for Goodluck Jonathan
openly and many times even espoused the
virtues of the opposing candidate on the
rostrum!
.
5. Southern leaders and Presidents pull
down Southern business men but prop up
Northern ones. How many people still
remember how Obasanjo ran Mike Adenuga
out of town but both Obasanjo and
Goodluck Jonathan made Aliko Dangote
what he is today. No northern leader goes
against their own. I dare to put it on record
that President Buhari will never go against
Aliko Dangote for any reason.
.
6. How come OBJ pardoned Salisu Buhari,
the ex-Speaker who forged his credentials
and he later was given an appointment as a
Governing Council member of a University
and heavens did not fall- but when
Goodluck Jonathan pardoned
Alamieyeseigha it became one of the major
issues counted against him? Is there one
rule for some and another rule for others?
.
7. We find it easy to raise our voices in
support of the deportation of Buruji
Kashamu but have no qualms with Atiku
Abubakar strutting around the corridors of
power.
.
8. Only Southerners find it so easy to abuse
their elders when they voice opinions not in
tandem with the popular opinion. We find it
easy to diss Afenifere elders and call them
‘Afenifebi’ while hurling expletives and
curses at them. We even abuse our kings
and priests. Northerners will never abuse an
Emir no matter how unpopular what he
said is. Can you imagine any Northerner
raising his voice against the Sultan? In spite
of Tanko Yakassai, Balarabe Musa and
Dangiwa Umar’s perceived support for
Jonathan, northern youths did not abuse
them. But our own youths run down our
elders on social media while our educated
elite also support the act.
.
These are some of the thoughts that have
been running through my mind. I don’t
pretend to have all the answers and I do
this at the risk of being labelled an ethnic
bigot. The point however is that
Southerners have to get their acts right. We
have to put our house in order. The
bickering must stop. Let’s engage our
emotional intelligence. Let’s not allow
others to exploit our tendency to self-
destruct. |
President Muhammadu Buhari has moved against Christian religious activities within the precincts of the Aso Rock presidential villa, a source familiar with the matter has disclosed to The Trent. The Aso Rock Villa Chapel serves as the official church of Aso Rock where Christian activities inside the presidential villa are conducted. According to an eyewitness who spoke to The Trent on Thursday, September 3, 2015 on condition of anonymity, heavily armed men stormed the Aso Rock Chapel on Sunday, August 30, 2015 denying worshippers access to the church. “Normally, services begin by 7am at the church but when we got there, we met armed security men who said we cannot enter. They said they were acting on orders from above. We waited outside till a few minutes past 8am before they allowed us to enter,” the source disclosed. A visibly embarrassed Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who worships at the Villa Church, arrived the Chapel and could be seen managing to conceal a worried expression over the incident. When our reporter contacted Presidential Spokesman Garba Shehu to confirm the development, he claimed he was not aware of the incident. “What you are telling me is news to me. I am not aware of this issue. There is a lot we are dealing with and I hope you are aware the church was handed over to Vice President Osinbajo. So please call Prince Laolu Akande, his spokesman to confirm this issue”, he said. Further investigations by The Trent have revealed that Sunday’s move was the second in a series of brazen attempts to shut down Christian activities in the Villa. Less than two months ago, the Children’s Church of the Villa Chapel where the wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Oludolapo Osinbajo worships with the children was closed down on orders from above. According to our source, “security concerns were given as reasons for the closure of the Children’s Church.” Attempts by this newspaper to reach Vice- Presidential spokesman Laolu Akande failed as his phone lines were unreachable at the time of filing in this report. www.thetrentonline.com/intolerance-president-buhari-orders-closure-of-aso-rock-villa-church-details/ |

The drug store business has become an integral part of today's economy. Medicine industry has grown in leaps and bound through the years. Read this article if you want to join in on the action and open your own medicine store business. In a nutshell, drugstores are described as retail establishments that market drugs, be it prescription, proprietary, or non-prescription medicine. To cater to the general consumer public, some drugstores also sell goods like: batteries, beverages, blank videotapes, candy, cigarettes and cigars, contact lens solutions, cosmetics, diet aids, disposable diapers, film/film developing, fragrances, greeting cards, hair care/skin care products, magazines/books, novelty items, oral hygiene products, pet food, small art and crafts items, snack foods, vitamins and more. If you are interested in starting your own drugstore, here is list of information that may prove to be useful along the way: A drug store marketing plan is essential for a startup. With it, you will be able to determine whether or not the area you are considering is already saturated with competition. And whether or not the populace is substantial enough and is earning sufficiently enough to support your drugstore. Prescription medications is said to be the top seller among all the items sold. Studies reveal the following ranking in terms of sales generated: (1) Prescription Medication (2) Proprietary Drugs (3) Toiletries (4 ) Tobacco Products (5) House ware (6) Cosmetics and (7) Others such as: candy, general merchandise, grocery items, liquor, stationery, toys, and other miscellaneous goods. In light of this, it is therefore imperative to focus or concentrate on this section of the pharmacy. The forecast for growth of this industry is positive. A vastly improved hospital and health care resulted to a marked increase in the percentage of aging Americans. Subsequently resulting to an increase in the sales of prescription and propriety medications. Take advantage of this trend by stocking up on this product line. The more shelf space you have, the better. If the bulk of your products are displayed and visible for the browsing patrons to see, then chances they might be enticed to buy. This industry is a competitive industry. Aside from brick and mortar drugstores, there are also online pharmacies to contend with. Other establishments such as supermarkets and discount stores have stocked up on proprietary drugs, some even set up their own pharmacy within their store. It is important to know this fact so you won’t walk into the drug business blind. When looking for a place to set up your drug store, pay attention to the zoning requirements of the area. A lot of localities have restrictions when it comes to the type of businesses they allow in the area. You must allocate funds for your initial medical store startup investment which includes advertising, supplies and equipment, remodeling/ building expense. Also allocate a portion of your funds for operating cost (until projected break-even period). This includes lease payment, employee wage, and unforeseen expenses etc. Your medicine shop must have a licensed pharmacist present at all times. If you are not a licensed pharmacist, then you should hire the services of one. On average, a person in with this credential earns approximately 30K to 40K per annum. You must also hire one to two sales clerks to assist your customers plus an office clerk to deal with the paperwork associated with running drugstore like credit card billing, inventory, accounting etc. |

Buhari finally opened up that he did not obtain any formal western education, thus did not have Secondary Schl or WAEC certificate. According to Buhari, his late father was an Islamic fundamentalist who saw western education as HARAM just like Boko Haram. Buhari said further that he only has Islamic Study Certificate which was given to him by d Imam that taught him in d Mosque and that, it was d Islamic cert that he used to join d Army. My question is; why did Buhari lie in d first place that his cert was wit d Nigerian Army ? Where is his integrity here ? If Buhari hates western education to d extent of not going thru any western education, how will his education policies look like, if he is made president ? My take: If Buhari has no secondary or Waec certificate, he shld pullover from dis contest, because Nigerians won't vote for someone without formal western education. As far as I am concern, Buhari has no single qualification that cld earn him d presidential seat. He is an ex-military man. He once truncated our democratic process. He has no secondary schl or Waec certificate. He is old. He is sectional (dis is evident in his siting of 70% of projects under him in d North, when he was chairman of PTF). He is not industrious, because he has never in his entire life involved himself in any business before and after his retirement (a sign of laziness). He is a religion fundamentalist..I beg join me to say No to Buhari. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=771688256244829&id=100002109858872&refid=8&_ft_=qid.6100762838042790280%3Amf_story_key.4619508224270107496&__tn__=%2As |
Survivors in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia will be given smartphones and will document their stories and exchange tips on how to cope with it for a mobile app which will be available to the public, the backers said in a statement. by ReutersJan 04, 2015 Ebola survivors in the three west African countries worst hit by the epidemic will share their stories through a mobile application to be launched on Monday, in a Unicef-backed campaign to inform and fight stigma around the disease. The Ebola outbreak, the worst on record of the highly infectious haemorrhagic fever, has killed over 7,900 people with more than 20,000 cases recorded, mostly in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). Although many people have survived the disease, they still face rejection and stigma from their communities, while the virus continues to spread due to lack of information and denial, according to the WHO and other health organisations. The campaign, called #ISurvivedEbola, is funded by US philanthropist and co-founder of Microsoft Paul G Allen’s foundation which has committed $100m to fight the disease. Unicef, the UN children’s agency is collaborating in the project. Survivors in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia will be given smartphones and will document their stories and exchange tips on how to cope with it for a mobile app which will be available to the public, the backers said in a statement. “While treatment of Ebola patients is critical, the best way to end the Ebola outbreak in west Africa is to cut the chain of transmission and prevent further infections,” Rafael Obregon of Unicef said in the statement. “#ISurvivedEbola is reinforcing our efforts by providing this information in multiple, highly entertaining forms, including through the testimonies of actual survivors,” Obregon said. Survivors who have agreed to contribute include Camara “Fanta” Fantaoulen in Guinea who lost six members of her family to Ebola, and Decontee Davis, a 23-year-old from Liberia who overcame Ebola but lost her fiancé http://saharareporters.com/2015/01/04/ebola-survivors-west-africa-share-stories-mobile-app |
Boko Haram fighters have overrun an army base in the remote northeast Nigerian town of Baga, killing scores of soldiers in the attack, security sources have said. Baga is known for hosting the headquarters of a multinational force comprising troops from Niger, Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon, although only Nigerian troops are actually stationed there. Troops eventually fled the remote station on the semi-desert shores of Lake Chad after it was attacked on Saturday by Boko Haram fighters using military vehicles, two sources said. Earlier on Friday, suspected members of the armed group raided the northeast village of Malari, kindapping about 40 boys and young men. The fighters came to the remote village of Malari and urged people to come out and listen to a sermon, farmer Bulama Malam told reporters on Saturday. "After telling us that they wanted to preach to us, they began to select young men aged between 12 and 25,'' Malam said. "I was lucky to escape because they only selected very young and able-bodied men." He spoke in Maiduguri, the capital of northeast Borno state, to which he escaped on foot. Nigeria''s longstanding conflict with Boko Haram has killed over 10,000 people this year, according to a count by the Council on Foreign Relations in November. Neighbouring countries threatened It is the gravest threat to Nigeria, Africa's biggest economy, and a headache for President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of an election on Feb. 14 where he is being challenged by opposition leader Muhammadu Buhari, a former military ruler seen as tough on security. After beginning their fight for an Islamic state five years ago in the northeastern city of Maiduguri, the group has radiated outwards into porous border areas, threatening Nigeria's neighbours around the Lake Chad Basin. In northern Cameroon, at least 15 people died in an attack by suspected Boko Haram militants on a bus, officials said on Saturday. Cameroon's army has been trying to dislodge the fighters from its Far North region with the help of air strikes. Nigerian Interior Minister Hassoumi Massaoudou said late last month that his country was ready to negotiate with Boko Haram, but did not even know who in the group to talk to. Baga came into the international spotlight early in 2013, when dozens of people, mostly civilians, were killed in fighting between the multinational force and Boko Haram. Many were burned alive in their thatched houses. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/africa/2015/01/boko-haram-seizes-nigerian-army-base-20151421315330265.html |
Former Minister of Aviation and Publicity Director of President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode has once again ruled out the possiblity of Muhammadu Buhari ruling Nigeria. The controversial writer said Buhari’s election would do more harm than good to the already troubled country. FFK, Saturday took to his Facebook page to advice Nigerians against voting for the former warlord, saying that Buhari can’t rule the nation. *. Boko Haram killings increased after Buhari’s threat to make Nigeria ungovernable – Fasehun He wrote, “asking Muhammadu Buhari to preside over the affairs of Nigeria is like asking Count Dracula to watch over the maiden. It is like asking the wolf to protect little red riding hood. It is like asking the tiger to watch over the lamb. It is like asking the snake to protect the child. It is like asking the rapist to watch over the virgin. By the grace and power of the Living God and the will of the Nigerian people, we will stop him. This nation is moving forward and not backwards” http://dailypost.ng/2015/01/03/asking-buhari-rule-nigeria-like-asking-rapist-watch-virgin-fani-kayode/ |

Buhari and his cohorts (APC members) are green snake under green grass. If I Expose All The Atrocities Of APC, Their Relationship With Boko Haram,Truth About Chibok Girls, Nigeria Will Burn – Fani-Kayode... Fani-Kayode made this startling revelations in a statement on Sunday, where he detailed the operations and true color of the APC leadership, as well as their contribution to the security challenges currently facing the country. The former APC member revealed that he chose the right path (returning to the Peoples Democratic Party) after carefully studying the workings in the party, one he said when brought to light, would shock many Nigerians to their marrow. “Simply put, the Haramites in the APC cannot be trusted with power. It is as simple as that. They are the greater evil and they are the greatest of all evils. They are the darkness that seeks the darkness. Whether we like to accept it or not, PDP is the only party that can stop them from winning power at the centre in Nigeria and that is why I have gone back to that party. “If I choose to speak out, fight back and tell the world who and what they are, what they represent, how they love to shed blood, their relationship with Boko Haram, the truth about Chibok [abducted girls] and the role some of their leaders played in it, their Islamist agenda, their links with the Middle East and the Arab world, their born-to-rule mentality, their desire to use the South West and later dump them, their utter disdain for southerners, the Middle Belt, the northern minorities, the moderate Muslims and the Christian community and so much more this country will burn. “Sadly, the overwhelming majority of its members have no idea what is really going on behind the scenes and what the agenda really is. Those are the ones that I really feel sorry for. “They will cry at the end of the day if the APC is ever able to seize power at the federal level, because if that happens, we will all become second class citizens in a new colony. “In addition to this, most of the more reasonable and rational leaders in the party are complaining bitterly behind the scenes, but they are too scared to speak out or to leave the party. I urge them all to do so before it is too late”, he added. It sometimes beat my imagination we have forgotten history so soon. Even in his region the clamour to become the president is not as loud as in the western part. History don't lie. |
All may not be well within the camp of Nigeria’s main opposition party, APC, as its governors are now at loggerheads with the leadership of the party over a premature power sharing formula being pushed by the national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. This development, which apparently is a fall out from the way and manner the running mate of APC Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari was picked has thrown up fresh challenges for the party. The National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun whose position appears to have been hijacked, has been making frantic efforts to bring all the warring groups to a reconciliation table. However, the party appears to have split into pro and anti-Tinubu forces as the governors, especially those from the north have roundly rejected Tinubu’s formula in which he demanded juicy government positions as condition to give full financial backing to Buhari’s campaign since he was not allowed to emerge as Vice President. The governors, who have been holding series of meetings in Abuja on the matter are said to be angry that Tinubu was still pushing for other strategic positions, being eyed by some of them, even after the Vice Presidential slot was conceded to him. The former Lagos state governor, is said to have met Buhari and requested that in addition to the Vice President slot, he should be allowed to produce the Speaker of the House of Representatives, which he has reserved for one of his friends from the South South even without consulting the APC governors from the area. Tinubu was said to have also demanded that he be allowed to produce key ministers as well as the review of oil licenses to incorporate his interest. Also, there are apprehensions that APC governors from the South south, north central and South East, namely Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state, Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state, Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State, Ahmed Abdulfatah of Kwara state and their Imo counterpart, Rochas Okorocha may have been schemed out following fears that they will secretly work in favour of President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general election. Sources within the party confirmed that these governors are being closely monitored adding that the appointment of Amaechi to lead Buhari’s campaign was to put him under check. In Tinubu’s watch list also is Lagos state governor Babatunde Fashola who has been schemed out following his perceived disloyalty for challenging Tinubu’s choice in the APC Lagos state governorship primaries. Tinubu’s demands have not gone down well with APC governors and other key party stakeholders from the north as they interpret them as outright greed and move to appropriate the party for his personal gains. In the current power play, the three former PDP governors who left for the APC appear to have completely lost out as none of them or their followers have been accommodated in the power sharing so far at the party and government levels. The governors were said to have met with Buhari on the matter during which they demanded that the Presidential candidate take his rightful position as the leader of the party and cut Tinubu to size before it becomes too late especially as Tinubu is perceived by the public as the “leprous finger” in the APC. Sources privy to the meeting said the governors made it clear to Buhari that they did not leave the PDP to become subservient to Tinubu, who they noted was not sure of delivering Lagos state in the Presidential election. The internal wrangling have degenerated into a cold war that led to the shelving of series of events lined up by the party last week. A party source who, pleaded anonymity confirmed that there are disagreements in the ranks but noted that they will be settled amicably |

A man who said, only last year, that ”an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north”? A man who said, in 2001, that he wants to ”spread sharia throughout the federation”? A man who said, in 2001, that muslims should only vote for muslims”? A man who said, in 2001, that ”why should christians be concerned when muslims cut off their limbs under sharia”?. A man who said, in 2001, that ”after all the limbs that are being cut off are muslim ones and not christian so why should the christians bother about it”? This is the man that some Nigerians are clamouring for to be their President? May God open their eyes and protect them from themselves. May He grant them wisdom and discernment. |
