I think one of the most difficult thing todo is to marry another tribe which is 'differ' from your own tribe. I always wonder (imagine) how people who marry another tribe do cope in marriage when it comes to communication(s). I know English is our official language but there are some communications we do in our local language which make communications sweet and interesting. Over to you fellow nairalanders. what do you think about this? |

MY STATE AT 50 Fellow Homo Saphien, Some seven years after this country's independence, a party representative was sent to a newly-created state, two states away from his own state, to boost his party's followers. Upon getting there, he noticed that majority of people in the state's capital were religious; whose world envolved around it-all-happens-as-God- wishes attitude, who never betray their words etc seeing this weaknesses, he made sure he got their confidence, then he godified himself as their ONLY option to a paradise always promised by politicians. Yes, opponents rose along the way, but this political guru always knew how he deal with them. Other politicians' efforts were futile as he never made them gain ground in the state, only God knows how he went about it. Oh, I remember that he later dumped his political party for another newly-formed party in the 'earliest' 2000s, he created one, too; for his daughter, if my memory serves me right, but that is another story for another day. After some 35 years of dictating who becomes governor the state, he made his own son one. The first few years of the son's reign was good, I learned he made a bakery for the state, I learned that he was made The Best Governor in West Africa - or is it in Nigeria? Well, people have been pointing fingers at some citizens of remote parts of the state as the reason why this man's recommendations get voted in; I am less concern about that, all I know is that they keep get voted in! The man was praised as the state's father of Democracy till death, and his son is enjoying the same grace, if not greater. I wonder if nobody has ever told them about their bad governance, poor state of the state, unfulfilled political manifestoes, amidst others - I have turned political apathetic, anyway. Oh, least I forget, the achievements so far, you want to ask? The state is still 'borrowing' electricity from a neighbouring state; the roads becoming graves, consuming innocent lives everyday; state- owned businesses have been converted to their own; there has been poor educational system; no projects ever got done completely; corruption has become a legal trade; there has been no water (I never remembered seeing any state-owned tap pour water forth since I was a kid). What else to write for the shameful state of this state? Let me gossip, I learned the present governor was stoned during the second term campaign by some agricultural citizen of the state. Well, the state served the father, they are serving the son, and the son is promising his own son to the governor seat in the next election, to make him the youngest governor in the West Africa. So the whole thing would be a 'grand-father-son-grandson' affair. God be thanked. I am only responsible for what I write, not for what you understand.
