Femolacaster:Don't mind them... ![]() They keep consoling themselves with that cocck and bull story. Oranmiyan is even reported in some history books to be Oduduwa's grandson. They are quick to mock our folklore that Oduduwa came from the sky. Whereas, every right thinking person knows that he actually came from the middle east just like other Yorubas. Oduduwa was so named by the Yoruba people he met at Ife. ![]() |

2dugged:That coccck and bull Ekaladerhan story is a one-sided story that only Binis will tell to console themselves till the world comes to an end. The 2-sided story both Yorubas and Binis will continue to tell is that Oduduwa sent Oranmiyan to establish an Obaship dynasty in Benin. Oduduwa, an arab, came from the middle east. That's all! |
2dugged:Of course, that story is mere folklore. Oduduwa came from the middle east where we Yorubas came from ab initio. Yorubas were expelled from the middle east because of idolatry. Many Yoruba words have arab origins e.g adura (dua) i.e. prayer, alejo (alhaji/alhaja) i.e. visitor/stranger, barika (barka) i.e. congrats etc |
Omeny:Different strokes for different folks. The fact that our Obas like to flex doesnt take anything away from them. If the Oba of Benin decides to keep himself in bondage/house-arrest all his life, it's none of our business. That doesnt add to his status as Oranmiyan's great great .... grandson or make his a demigod. |
Omeny:Late Oba Erediauwa also visited late Oba Sijuade shortly after Oba Erediauwa ascended the throne. Oba Sijuade never returned the visit! The new Ooni is just a fun-loving fellow coupled with the fact that his wife is Bini with Ife ancestry though. |
BornStunner1:Yoruba are 'tiffs' indeed! You better go back to school. Olodo! |
BornStunner1:Another long drivel. I'll try to address some point though. @bolded Ogun - how can that of Bini origin? Many Yoruba names start/end with Ogun e.g Olaogun, Adeogun, Ogunsanya etc How many Bini names have Ogun in them? You well so? Olokun - Olu okun - god/goddess of the waters(sea) Okun is the Yoruba word for sea/beach Olu is the Yoruba word for king/head/god Are you telling me that Olu and Okun are also Bini words with similar translation? Are you maddd? Ifa (I dont care what you Binis call it) is Yoruba traditional religion. Is the language used to run Ifa Yoruba or Bini? Are all the orisas(gods) Yoruba or Bini? Are the panegyrics (ogede) Yoruba or Bini? Are there Bini versions of Fadeyi oloro and Abija? Na wa o. Na so u dull reach? Sango(I dont care what you Binis call it) was the first Alaafin of Oyo. He used to plait his hair in honour of his wife(Oya) and spit fire. All these are well-documented history. How come it now has to do with the Binis? You guys are quite pathetic. Orunmila is 100% Yoruba Ayelala is ogboni paraphernalia. Or is ogboni - a modern day Yoruba cult - of Bini origin again? O ga o. The rest of the of your post is unadressable rubbish. |
Congratulations to the new Oba of Benin. Wishing him a most successful reign on the throne. That said, I have noticed that quite a number of Binis have been in a state of hysteria since the beginning of final coronation activities earlier in the week which has eventually climaxed in the coronation of the new Oba today. I find it difficult to come to terms with the fact that Binis cannot celebrate their Oba and tradition without reference to Yorubas albeit rudely/derogatorily. Since the beginning of the week, I have come across several stupiddd/senseless posts from Binis which I couldnt properly respond to because of time. Hence, I have decided to create this thread and address all such posts with the aim of bringing back their posters from their current state of delusion/hysteria to reality vis-a-vis Yoruba/Benin history. Thank you. BornStunner1:Late Oba Erediauwa visited late Oba Sijuade shortly after he (Oba Erediauwa) ascended the throne. I dont think Oba Sijuade ever returned the visit. The fact that the new Ooni is a young, free-minded,outgoing, wealthy entrepreneur and in-law of the Binis does not take anything away from the fact that his throne predated that of the Binis. I'd have been surprised if he didnt attend the event. Ekaladerhan bulllshiiit will forever remain a one-sided story told by the Binis. ![]() The only 2-sided story told by both Yorubas and Binis is that Oduduwa sent Oranmiyan his son to rule Bini and establish a dynasty which has endured till date. ![]() From your post, we can also infer that the Emir of Kano is also inferior to the Oba of Benin. What rubbish! In essence, your post gives you out a semi-literate folk. ![]() As regards stealing of artifacts, the Oonis current wife's forefather migrated to Benin from Ife to teach the Binis artistry. Fact! |

ThumbzTNA:Are you a dullaaard? Who can be more Afonja than the governor of Kwara state? |
alabashop:You got it wrong. We used power well when we had it. Obasanjo empowered Yoruba businessmen when he held sway. Yorubas took over major FG companies in the name of privatisation. Also, Lagos is good enough as it is. Giving it a special status will make it a 'no man's land' which we Yorubas dont want. |

After all said and done, Yorubas backing GEJ for a second term in 2015 would have led to an almost irreparable political suicide for us. Hence, agreeing with Tinubu to support PMB was the best choice for us at the time. Below are my reasons: 1. Yorubas had truncated the turn of the north by being at the fore front of GEJ's emergence as Ag. President which strengthened him to run in 2011. Obasanjo, Wole Soyinka and Tunde Bakare's SNG led the struggle majorly. Only Obasanjo was allowed to see ailing YarAdua at the time. Shortly after seeing him, he called for his resignation. That did the magic. ![]() 2. Yorubas backed GEJ in the 2011 polls against PMB's CPC to contribute very significantly to his emergence as president in 2011. ![]() 3. GEJ on assuming power decided to give appointments due to Yorubas to either Northerners or Igbos as 'jara' thereby scheming the Yorubas out almost completely. By so doing, GEJ was trying to warm himself into the heart of the northerners with the Igbos and his SS people already in his bag. He wanted to be the 'good boy' of the north. ![]() 4. Had GEJ won a second term, Yoruba marginalisation would have worsened especially as he spent a fortune trying to woo Yorubas to back him in the run off to the 2015 elections. ![]() 5. GEJ would have handed power to a Northerner/Igbo joint ticket for President/VP in 2019 leaving the Yorubas to scramble for the remaining positions in the order of precedence. Yorubas may have ended up with Deputy Senate President/Deputy Speaker. Quite pathetic! ![]() 6. With the northerners getting power from GEJ, a Yoruba presidency would have been farfetched. The tendency would be to look towards GEJ's region or the Igbos when the northerners are done with their tenure. ![]() 7. As is stands under PMB, Yorubas are closer to the presidency than ever. Unlike the Igbos that are desperately hoping have the Vice Presidency someday, Yorubas believe that the only alternative to an independent/semi independent Yoruba nation is the presidency. Hence, we do all within our power to achieve it including backing a PMB in 2015. ![]() 8. For the first time in the nation's history, one ethnic nationality is holding nos 2 (VP), 3 (Senate President) and 6 (Deputy Speaker). In addition, we also have the House Leader and Senate Chief Whip position. This could never have happened if GEJ had won a second term. ![]() 9. In terms of appointments, there is no denying the fact that PMB has largely favoured the north. Nevertheless, I dont think GEJ would have appointed a Yoruba man as CDS, Chairman FIRS, Chairman NPA, JAMB Registrar etc ![]() Or can you imagine GEJ giving Yorubas slush ministerial portfolios as finance, power, works, housing, health, communication, information, solid minerals in one fell swoop? ![]() Even OBJ wasnt that adventurous. ![]() 10. Tinubu may have been schemed out. But as I always say, Tinubu is not equivalent to Yoruba. The general Yoruba populace gains whether Tinubu loses out or not. Where one Yoruba man loses, another gains. ![]() 11. In conclusion, Tinubu did the right thing in rallying Yorubas to support PMB in 2015. That thing/driving force that ensures Yorubas have the edge in the south pushed him to do what he did. He may be having regrets now. But we Yorubas are all the more better off with his decision. ![]() Technically, there are only three tribes in Nigeria: Yoruba, Hausa/Fulani and others(led by the Igbos). Nigeria may be in a terrible state at the moment but the crisis will soon be over...Enough said... ![]() PS: I have referred to the Igbos severally in this piece because they seem to be at the forefront of those taking Panadol for Tinubu/Yoruba's headache. If they had about half of what Yorubas currently have in this dispensation, they would be worshipping PMB up and down - bad economy or not. Okurounmu's statement is out of the bitterness and grudge he has for Tinubu. It is nowhere near reality. ![]() |

paulchucks:I trust you yEasterners to spin it one way or other. Nevertheless, I salute your courage to visit the thread and post a comment. Most of your fellow yEasterners have simply viewed the thread and left in shame because it has basically ruined their day. I can never fathom why Igbos fear the Fulanis so much. Is it because of the civil war? Take note, in this power tussle between Yorubas and Hausa/Fulanis, the general Yoruba populace never loses. What an envious, pathetic and bitter bunch, you yEasterners! |

PMB is just an error of a president. He is day in day out proving to be duller and more clueless than GEJ. What a choice we Nigerians had to make! |

I'm not surprised... I know the Sai Buhari zombies and fanatics will call for Aisha's head. Should anything happen to Aisha, the outcome wont be funny. Nevertheless, whatever comes out of this, Aisha Buhari remains a heroine with her footprints being left in the sands of time. |
