Hello everyone! I'm a 2017 batch A serving Corp member currently doing my one year mandatory National Youth Service in RIVERS state I can see you all are so happy and anxious to go serve your country, which of course is a privilege. The thread is buzzing with comments as you all cannot wait to go experience the much talked about NYSC orientation camp. But believe me that you'll never know what is called rest the moment you step your foot into the orientation camps until you have completed your three weeks orientation programme, the compulsory early morning, afternoon and evening drills will even make most of you desert this thread. ![]() For those posted to Rivers state, the soldiers in Nonwa Gbam-Tai Orientation camp here in Rivers state are very friendly and can be so annoying the same time, Lol. They can make you all sit under the hot sun for as long as they want at the slightest provocation Also, be ready to attend the boring SAED lectures from the second week of your stay at the orientation camp. I can categorically tell you all that it is one of the most boring lectures you will ever attend in your entire lives . I can remember during my time in one of those boring SAED lectures, you all need to see the way yours faithfully was battling with sleep in the hall, to make the whole thing worse, I was seated in front . I didn't know NYSC camp was like this, else I for no come, that was all I kept on saying until the lecture ended for that day.Anyway, this isn't to scare you guys but to inform you all as to what you'll get when you get to camp. I'll advise you guys to come to camp with at least 25k, whether or not you'll eat from the camp kitchen. I for one, I spent close to 30k despite the fact that I took food from the camp kitchen everyday, but you know man has got to visit Mammy na .And also, please don't make more than 5 copies of each documents, you won't be needing more than 2 of each for your registration in camp, don't let anyone deceive you. Na sango go kill those guys wey advise me to make 15 copies each, I did not use up to 3 copies of each of my documents all through my stay in camp ![]() I don't wanna bore you guys too much, for those posted to Rivers state, feel free to holla me for directions to Nomwa Gbam Tai orientation camp . |
Seun Lalasticlala Freiburger r231 Please help move this to the front-page to get better contributions. Thanks! |
ebukahandsome:It is saddening sir, I wish Seun will do something about it. Let every member of this forum that engages in such activity be handed a life ban, at least that will go a long way in curbing the menace. We all must come together and collectively do something about it otherwise it may consume us someday. |
Good day fellow nairalanders! Firstly, let me start by commending Seun Osewa for his brilliant idea in creating this platform. As we all know, Nairaland since its inception as an online public forum has created an opportunity and a level ground for both the young and old, rich and poor irrespective of their background, religious and political affiliation to air their views on matters bothering on on our personal affairs and general welfare as a nation. So far, I must say it has achieved its purpose by helping to bring about oneness amongst Nigerians. On the contrary, I think Nairaland is gradually losing its relevance as of recent. I've carefully observed a saddening development amongst some members of this great forum which is what I want to talk about, it is about the issue of TRIBALISM. I think I do not necessarily need to stress or emphasise what tribalism is as most of us here are quite conversant with the word. This issue of tribalism has so much eaten deep into some members of this forum that they cannot reason and see beyond their nose. Yesterday two threads made it to the front-page, one was about a Nigerian who was caught while attempting to rob an apartment in India and the other was about another Nigerian who was killed extrajudicially in Johannesburg, South Africa. A video emerged of the Nigerian who was caught while attempting to rob an apartment in India, in the video the Nigerian was seen tied to a light pole and gruesomely beaten with sticks until he became unconscious and at the point of death. As usual, one would expect every right and sane citizen of Nigeria to condemn the act as his captors could have simply handed him over to the police. Rather than condemn the act, a microscopic few decided to take it upon themselves and used the opportunity to engage in a tribal war and call each other names like Igbos, afonjas and so on leaving the real issue unaddressed. Same thing happened in the case of the other Nigerian killed in South Africa, instead of condemning the SA police, some members of this forum were busy trying to pin the victim to a particular tribe of this country and projecting them in bad light. To add pepper to injury, the youths who are supposedly the leaders of tomorrow are the ones championing the course. Such a pity Situations like this leaves one to wonder why our leaders don't take us serious in this country, when all we do is fight ourselves and call each other names instead of holding our leaders accountable for their gross incompetencies and inactions. This behavior of ours will not take us anywhere, I think it is high time we all look past our religious beliefs and ethnic differences and come to live together as one Nigerians, I also think it is high time Seun and the other moderators of this forum had done something about this issue bedevilling us that if left unattended could hamper the unity of this great country. We all should remember that there can be no development where there is little or no peace and there can be no peace where there's a high level of intolerance for one another. Nigeria is ours to build. God bless Nairaland, God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. PS: I'm not much of a writer so pardon my errors. Seun, Lalasticlala, Mynd44, freiburger, r231. Lalasticlala, Seun and Mynd44... |

fbtowner:You were actually making sense until you got to this point. You really sounded so dumb , you know that, don't you![]() |
bjhaid:@Bolded 1 I can't say for now if Private PPAs use Corp members anyhow or not as you've said because I'm yet to resume mine, I was posted to a Private secondary school within Port Harcourt city in Obio/Akpor LGA. @Bolded 2 The principal of my PPA agreed to be paying all corpers posted to the school 10k monthly, so I can say for now that my PPA pays more than 7k. @Bolded 3 That is not true, I was given a self contained accommodation which is not within the school compound neither is it very close to the school. My accommodation is a 15mins walk from the school, though it is two to a room but I think that is fair enough. So people brace up. The journey isn't as tough as people make it seem, cheers! Feel free to mention me if you have any questions regarding The NYSC Orientation Camp in Nonwa Gbam, Tai LGA of Rivers state. I rep ObioAkpor, PH metropolis. |
Valmesk:Thanks bro! |

For those having issues accessing the NYSC portal, you can access it using Opera Mini or Google Chrome browser. I think the problem of not being able to access it arises from using your phone's default browser. Cheers! |

Copied from NYSC official Facebook page. ATTENTION PROSPECTIVE PCM OFFICIAL... This is to inform all 2017 Batch A Prospective Corps Members Posted to Cross River State that the Orientation Venue has been changed to Cross River State College of Education, Akamkpa, Cross River State. You are therefore requested to Re-print your call-up letters. |
This information is for those of you that have been posted to my state, Edo state for your service year, it is not to scare you but just to inform you beforehand of what you should be expecting... Please do well to come along with your mosquito nets as the NYSC orientation camp in Okada is not a nice place to behold ooo, else those mosquitoes there are gonna use you guys for suya . Trust me, their dilapidated Halls of residence is nothing to write home about. I wonder if the NYSC state coordinator is doing anything to see that the standard of living there is enhanced. The NYSC Orientation Camp there is more or less of a dungeon , it is no better off than Kirikiri Maximum Prison, the only difference is that you're allowed to move about. They're currently using Okada secondary school there as their temporary site for the time being.Take this piece of advice from me as someone who's been there and have seen it all. Okada is my Village and I have firsthand info about the NYSC orientation camp there. Cheers! |
GoldGerry:Really?? And I did not make copies of it o
