CareerRe: Any Hope For Oracle Professionals In Nigeria? by Bams95(op): 1:06pm On Sep 27, 2012
benJAVA: Im one of the very people that always advice people to know the environment and economy of Nigeria before narrowing their skill to a limited career as a DBA in Nigeria, Nigeria need a multi-skilled expert, see my dear Oracle DB and SQL Server are built to have a professional to look after them, with large amount of data, that very few company required in Nigeria. I simply use MySQL for my back-end either with Java,.NET or PHP because non of my client can afford to pay an extra DBA, may be tomorrow things might change. So learn other things to support your DBA skill.
okay.so like what other courses do you think will be relevant to combine with database knowledge?

bolof2000: Being an Oracle DBA is beyond having Few certifications in Oracle.Yes,there are companies that are using Oracle, enough on ground, and i believe,if u can administer Oracle DB,u should be able to work around and DB software. My company implements quite few projects for some companies in Nigeria and mostly Oracle DB has been used.
.I will advise you get the Job before relocating just in case u are relocating to Nigeria.
thanks for ur reply.am in Nigeria, infact in Lagos.its not only the fact that i have OCP CERTIFICATE,i can use the oracle database effectively.i can use the various tools such as PL/SQL,SQL,RMAN.I can do various database administration tasks.but the problem is its just difficult to get an Oracle job.i would love to work as an oracle person but most companies prefer to employ people that have worked in an oracle environment before.I am even ready to work FREE(without salary) just to get the experience.

CareerAny Hope For Oracle Professionals In Nigeria? by Bams95(op): 9:27am On Sep 26, 2012
Please people,
what hope do oracle DBAs have in getting jobs in Nigeria?
Is there any prospect in being an oracle DBA?
Are companies in Nigeria really using Oracle at the moment?
and what hope for the inexperienced oracle professionals in Nigeria, because it seems the
very few jobs that are available are for oracle DBAs with years of experience.

please i need your contributions.

you can install 11g instead.and if what u realy need is the 10g,then i will advise u to create another partition on ur hard disk and install linux on it so that you can install oracle 10g on the linux os.believe me,oracle on linux is the IN THING now.if you dont want to do all these, then look for oracle 11g and install on ur windows platform.but believe me,you av not started ur journey in Oracle if u av not moved into Linux or solaris platform.gud luck bro

BusinessRe: Guys, Let's Talk Business by Bams95: 10:59pm On Sep 09, 2012
Pacemaker: You don't have to be a graphic guy to do this, all you need is a website and the software that will help you customize your product. Contact local printers first and also tee shirt retailers or what ever goods you would like to sell before venturing into this. The software is a little bit expensive, you can get them for $400 or more.
thanks for the info
BusinessRe: Guys, Let's Talk Business by Bams95: 1:22pm On Sep 09, 2012
Pacemaker: As a business planner, think about the common man and what they would not do without daily e.g brushing their teeth everyday or dressing up for work, school or night life. Here in the states,it is difficult to compete because anything you intended doing has been done by uncountable individuals. Nigeria and Africa in general has room for growth and that is why most American and European citizens are flocking our continent to take advantage of those loopholes. Think about customized online printing of promotional items, Apparel and greeting cards. How it works is; you set up your own website, where individuals and organization can go on and customize a tee shirt, cup and other gift items t their own taste. Company's like Coca Cola or MTN can easily go on your website, upload their logo and write what ever they wish to write on a promotional product and then save and pay for it.All you have to do is receive the order and outsource it to a local printing shop where they will print the custom designs on the product Coca Cola or MTN paid for. Sometimes company's do promotion on new product, they may need tee shirts that will be given out for free that has their logo and the product name that they are promoting, insteading of them going through the hassles of looking for who to print those tee shirt, all they have to do is upload their own design on your wbesite, save it on what ever product they wish to purchase, it maybe tee shirt, umbrella or cups and then make payment. Before engaging yoursekf in such biz, look for a local printer that is willing to accept a minimum order from you and also strike a deal with a local trader that deals on tee shirts, plastics and what ever item you which to have on your site.
pacemaker, great idea, but do i need to be a graphic designer to succeed in this business.

whats your business if she had vibra.tor with her?you all have things you do in hidden places.that she came to lagos with vibra.tor does not mean she died as a sinner.do u know if God was so merciful to her that she was able to repent when she discovered she had no chance of making it alive. You are not her CREATOR.so stop judging her.
