The Federal Government has commenced the
payment of about N23bn promotion arrears and
salary shortfall to civil servants.
The development was confirmed by the
Accountant General of the Federation, Alhaji Idris
Ahmed, in Abuja on Wednesday, who said
N13.2bn was for salary shortfall and N10bn for
promotion arrears.
“We cannot give money in bulk to
agencies. We will accept detailed information of
all those individual employees of government who
are in that category having names, banks and
account numbers and the amount that happens
to be in arrears as far as their salary payments
are concerned. After due verification, we will now
pay direct to the account of the employee. We
have started that already and money has been set
aside, N13.2bn for the salary shortfall and then
N10bn
monthly for promotion arrears.”

Expectation of cabinet reshuffle is responsible for the delay in the swearing in of two ministers confirmed by the Senate since May 3, Daily Trust learnt.
Kogi had been without representation in the cabinet since James Ocholi, Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, died in a road accident on March 6, 2016.
Amina Mohammed resigned as Minister of Environment on February 24, to take up a UN appointment as Deputy Secretary- General. Buhari nominated Stephen Ocheni and Suleiman Hassan from their respective states as replacements and forwarded their names to the Senate on March 28. They were confirmed on May 3.
There were speculations President Buhari would reshuffle the cabinet but this did not happen up to the time he departed for London on medical vacation about 50 days ago.
The general expectation has been that Acting President Yemi Osinbajo would swear in the ministers during any of the weekly cabinet meetings. The Acting President has not acted on this and his office has declined comment on the matter. A presidency source suggested Osinbajo may be waiting for the President to return to swear-in the two ministers and reshuffle the cabinet. According to him, “I think there is a plan to reshuffle the cabinet to re-jig the government and make it function better. This may be the reason for the delay in the inauguration of the two ministers-designate. “I don’t think there’s anything other than the absence of the president. I don’t know whether there is an arrangement between the president and the acting president on this. But if the two ministers are to occupy the position of their predecessors, the acting president would have sworn them in, “he said. When confronted by State House correspondents yesterday on why Osinbajo had not exercised some presidential powers in swearing in the two new ministers-designate, the Chairman of Progressive Governors Forum, Chief Rochas Okorocha, said, “Like I said before, there is absolutely no vacuum. You have an acting president who assumes all the powers of Mr President. So I do not know if there are reasons Mr Acting President has not acted on that. But he has the full powers of the president. “The Acting President can take any decision today and it will be binding on the nation because he is the acting president, he is not the vice president anymore. He sits in place of Mr. President and performs all the constitutional duties of Mr. President. But if he is taking his time for obvious reasons, that is understandable,” Okorocha said. “As acting president, you want to make sure things are in their rightful places before you take any decision, but there is no vacuum. There is no approval by acting president that was rejected by anybody. He summons meetings, calls for meetings, gives directives; he has enough powers for him to execute governmental functions,” he added.

Some of una sef... Se as d OP jus sensationalize d mata. MTN offices have done worse... D issue isn't peculiar to jus etisalat alone.. All of dem usually require a VALID NATIONAL ID and most especially ur manner of approach. I've done a sim swap after I forgot my sim where I travelled to by providing every single detail about d line. I didn't even have d sim pack anymore. I explained to dem my predicament and asked dem to check and confirm if any of d info I have given is wrong. Some of their agents can b overzealous atimes but ur conclusion is totally illogical. And for some ppls assertion dat dey are losing customers already is simply laughable.. I'll use an etisalat 1k sub over d same 1k sub on Glo or any other network at DAT any day...
Check the monthly user numbers released by NCC, etisalat is the last nd has lost over 4 million customers in 10 months

I went today to swap my 7 year old sim that stopped working, the people asked me for ID nd I provided them with 2 ID cards ( A federal University ID card nd My work ID card, Also an FG agency) only to be told that they can't accept them. I need a Drivers licence ( I don't own a car) or a Voters card ( I don't Vote) or an international Passport ( me that don't own a car, where will I get Passport). so I had to leave but luckily Airtel accepts FG IDs nd doesn't require you to own a car or vote for anyone first.

akpamuomenka:
Think about your region. If they can survive after the war, why not after leaving the north?. After your govnt sent Ghana packing, is Ghana not better than your country today?.

You are talking about how they will create jobs, How many jobs your govnt don create for you?.
Can you tell me one sector that is working perfectly in your country?. Advice your government on how to better your life and stop posting rubbish here. If war breaks out in the north, I am sure not only Igbos will die.
Nigeria may or may not have done anything for me is not issue, the issue is after only God Knows how i made it, u ask me to sacrifice it alll, then u need to convince me beyond doubt that it is worth it nd you can only do that by proving that i wont end back the way i so hard work to leave
PoliticsRe: Kaduna Declaration :IPOB Should Makd Its Stand Known by bappahman(op): 12:39pm On Jun 08, 2017
I for one want to see biafra, i believe the fastest way is to have a many Igbos supporting biafra as possible, this can be achieved by educating igbos outside the South East on the TRUE benefits nd policies that will help them recover potential losses nd i know that is their no 1 concern, with that settled Igbos will speak as on nd biafra will be a reality

Have you asked the people giving the 'marching orders' if they agree to creation of Biafra and the disintegration of Nigeria?

How can someone be giving 'marching orders' but there is no where to march to?
A potential government should be on ground educating its ppl,, some if not most of Igbos in northern states are not so sure of what is the plan for them, are they to sacrifice their life savings for biafra nd return as destitutes, IPOB needs to be up md doing informing them nd not insulting us
PoliticsRe: Kaduna Declaration :IPOB Should Makd Its Stand Known by bappahman(op): 12:22pm On Jun 08, 2017
IPOB by now should be able to present it economic blue print, so as to put the minds of it citizens leaving outside the South East at rest knowing fully what to expect , this will help a great deal in the speedy realization of Biafra

Most Northern universities, polytechnics nd Hospital have reasonable number of biafrans, we will miss them but where will they work in biafra or will they stay on a contract staffs with less pay?

Based on post on nairaland during the 2015 elections we were made to believe that kano alone hosts over 2 million biafrans, i just pray that oga kanu has a plan that can create or provide space for over 1 million kano biafrand that will be returning from kana alone, i know some wont
