komekn: Absolutely OUTSTANDING by Hoffenhiem.
However, Bayern have been winning this league almost year in year out, I indeed they have won it for the past 8 years consecutively.
That's essentially a one team wins all league.
There is no COMPARISON WHATSOEVER with the EPL on COMPETITIVNESS. Agreed, unreservedly. I just wanted to point out that it doesn't make EPL any special. Not saying EPL is not special, but Leicester defeating City is not a big deal. It's an upset, it's called upset for a reason, and it happens everywhere. City might be a big team, but Leicester aren't any small team either |

The way you people dey always see EPL as the fulcrum of everything is alarming. Mbappe should go and prove himself? Omo, Someone that single-handedly(in your words) won the World Cup for France. Someone that single-handedly took PSG to the UEFA Champions League final. Someone that single-handedly beat PSG to the league with AS Monaco. Someone that single-handedly took Monaco to the semi finals of UCL. That same someone should go and prove himself, where else is a bigger stage than UCL and World Cup, sir? Someone that is 21 years old and has all these achievements

komekn: But you are having to scrape the bottom of the historical pot to find examples.
However, it's not the pertinent point, which is that the EPL is so competitive that any team can beat anybody at anytime if you do not take each game seriously.
Now compare the complete dominance of Barca and Real in La Liga, Or Juventus in Seria A, or Bayern in the Bundesliga.
But l deviate, l was trying to explain the quality of the Championship in comparison to any other league second tier league. Watford got relegated with the more or less thier entire squad thet could not beat Sheffield Wednesday.
You have brought Huesca into the discussion. With thier budget they would struggle in league one. Thier main and number one striker Okazaki will.not get an EPL team. And will certainly struggle to get a good ambitious Championship team.
But you argue that money is irrelevant well at least some here. Whether you like it or not better players follow the BETA £££€€€€. Not a valid proposition. Small teams upset giants everywhere and everytime. That it's frequent in EPL would I need to be backed by stats, and not some hearsay. We watch EPL too, and we know what City and Pool have turned your teams into. I'd implore you, even if you wouldn't heed, to take a look at other leagues and see for yourself. PSG lost their first 2 matches this season, and needed an injury time winner to snatch a 1 - 0 win over Metz, whom according to you, is not fit enough to compete in League 2. Upsets happens everywhere, every league. And until proven, I don't believe, or rather, wouldn't accept it's more frequent in EPL. Back up this statement with prove sir, this once |

mowah: Not bad, not trying to be petty but Semi Ajayi would have been the perfect model instead of Samuel. Why? They use golden players for promoting jerseys. That's why Oshoala and Fati made the 5 players that promoted Barça's. Not because they're fine looking. Still I ask, why do you say so? |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by barackodam: 11:50am On Sep 20, 2020 |
wayodude: That example is frankly rubbish. A few years ago under Guardiola, Barcelona at their finest featuring the likes of Messi, Xavi, Iniesta lost 2 nil to new promoted and never seen since Hercules. Hercules went on to finish 19th and were of course relegated. Barcelona as usual went on to win the league.
That said, I think the championship is stronger than segunda liga or whatever the Spanish second division is called these days, though not by much. England have called up players from the championship from time to time. That's not what he's saying sir. He's saying that Championship is better than, is a better test of competition and and better strength than Serie A, that happens to be the number 3 rated league in Europe |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by barackodam: 11:45am On Sep 20, 2020 |
komekn: Not all leagues are the same.
And not all second tier league are the same.
Watford has just been relegated to the Championship and they have not lost up to 2/3 players.
But in their game against Sheffield Wednesday they were held to a draw. This is literally the same Watford that beat Liverpool 3-0 and 2-0 home and away.
Tell me a team that got relegated in La Liga that was able to beat Barcelona or Real or in the Bundesliga or Seria A. Mallorca beat Valencia and Real Madrid, who eventually won the league. They're in segunda now. Like we say, you don't seem to watch not know anything outside England. Watford didn't beat Liverpool home and away either, no one did |

Napoleon55: yes but I prefer my captain to play in epl and serie a than championship and saudi arabia You clearly don't understand what it means to be captain then. Being captain speaks about your influence in the team. It doesn't matter if you're playing in Japanese J3 league. How influential are you in the team? Can you say something and everyone will agree, based on respect? Now, tell me again, how you think Wilf will become captain |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by barackodam: 4:23am On Sep 20, 2020 |
komekn: La Liga has huge disparities in quality you have Barca and Real, then Sevilla and Athletico, then a group of 5/6 teams.
The rest are struggling for quality.
Consider that the most expensive player in the Leganes team is Omeruo who cost €5 million.
If you look at the Championship maybe the bottom end in general most teams will exceed that with players costing in excess of £10 million.
So being in lower level team in a top league does not equate to being a top quality player. However, a top performing player in the Championship will exceed £20 million.
So I do not think it is a step down in some regards a step up, If he does well he will be in the EPL.
In reality it puts a question mark on his quality, after a season in Seria A his value has not increased it seems and no other club in Seria A wants him. Quality football sir, that's the point. Not money. You're telling us from Ekong facing Ronaldo, Dybala, Ibrahimovic, Lukaku, Gómez week in week out, to facing your borough boys that can only pray to be ball boys in these teams is a step up? Do you even understand what it is to be defending against Ronaldo for 2 seasons? That's 4 matches? Then he should go and be facing dem Solanke and Pukki? Bros, fear God o. Fear God. I think we've gotten used to you hyping English whatever, but dey fear God while hyping them also. Facing Solanke that scored only 1 EPL goal last season is an upgrade to facing Ronaldo, 5 time balón d'or winner!!!
