The other option is apppoint the acclaimed best Coaches and Man Utd not qualifying for champions league. Foot ball is not a rocket science.

Carrick deserve a permanent role based on his performance same as Ole when he was employed as coach and qualifed Man Utd for consecutive Champions league for the 1st time since Alex.

All these hipsters fancy name coaches are almost guaranteed to fail at man united. Only World class coaches can succeed at Man utd or Former players who are young and just decent like Ole or Carrick. Madrid and Barca always do this Former young players or outright world class. Xavi, Arbeloa, Alonso, Zidane, Solari, Guardiola and Enrique. Or Long term Assistants at the club like the late former Barca coach. The trajectory is very clear now so many traditional clubs are following this method now. Look at inter with Chivu, Milan brought back Pioli, Juve have Spalleti, Napoli has Conte.

This is exactly my thought, Many coach that are consider world class has failed in Man Utd, There is no coach coming in that guarantees success.

Look at Arsenal for example, they failed and were constantly out of champions league with a coach consider to be world class after Wenger till they settle for Arteta after missing out on champions league for years.

I think Casemiro contract ends this season. Ugarte may be sold too. We will need 2 new midfielders. Dalot should not be first choice next season so yes we need a full back.

As for wingers, is it certain Barca will pay for Rashford? We also have Lacey. Ineos may not want to spend a lot. So maybe Lacey will just be promoted fully to the senior team

We also need a striker that can put fear in the mind of the opposition.

If you definition of success is winning the league only then yes Arteta too hasn't been a success at Arsenal.

Success usually varies depending on the team.

At the moment any coach that qualifies Man Utd to champions league every season would be said to be successful since we have not been qualifying consistently, in same vein Arteta is successful as he has returned Arsenal to challenging for trophies and consistent champions league football.
