Nwankwo Kanu is possibly the best teen talent Nigeria ever produced. Emphasis on "teen". His heart surgery derail his career |

LordAdam16: seconded
what are carrick's objectives for next season, if he is retained?
top 4, ucl qf, a domestic cup final
is that really beyond carrick's abilities? i don't think so.
in fairness, i think many are shaky on carrick because those objectives i outlined earlier are not the dream milestones for the club so maybe that's fine for next season but can carrick take the club to the top?
and in spite of the excellent results that is still an open question
so why keep him for another top 4 maybe ucl knockout finish if we can get an enrique or some other manager who everyone would expect to have a higher ceiling
finally, i think this is a nice problem to have and i'd circle back to your opening sentence
he has earned the managerial spot for another year at least
perhaps, let's do things the easy way give him the job because he has earned it rather than get bogged down by hypotheticals
-Lord The other option is apppoint the acclaimed best Coaches and Man Utd not qualifying for champions league. Foot ball is not a rocket science. Carrick deserve a permanent role based on his performance same as Ole when he was employed as coach and qualifed Man Utd for consecutive Champions league for the 1st time since Alex. The honest truth is man utd is far from contesting for titles. There are a lot of coaches without any specific style and they only play to the team strength example Ancellotti. Appointing a coach and signing of players are gamble which you dont know which will improve the team. Carrick shoud only be relieved of Man Utd top job when performance of the team drop abysmally. |

nitrogen: This! No time to waste time. Give him 3-5 players, give him a year contract. If he messes up with no hope of getting the boys back on track, sack him and get another manager. Simple! Top teams don’t look for longevity of managers. Same thought as you, only manager that have proven themselves in a club deserve long term contract of 3-5, any other coach should be a rolling contract |

Oasis007:

......congratulations to Manchester United. Special congratulation to Carrick, he actually is doing well but I ain't convinced he is the right man for job.
He has luck on his side. He allows players much freedom on the pitch than Amorim. He sees them as friends not as tools.
.......well, that ain't gonna win us any trophy. This is more a de javu. We had it even better when OGS was called upon to rescue us.
Thank you Carrick! You forever a Legend, but let me advise you - DON'T ACCEPT THE JOB PERMANENTLY!
If however you get the job as a permanent Manager, be rest assured of my full support though it only last while you are doing great for the club. Make he accept the job and immediately the luck has run off, he should be sacked. |

Jamiuokolaa: I agree 100%
Gone are the days when you would have Ancelotti, Hiddink, etc..all available at once.
The way top managers take disappear in the last 10 years eh.
Carrick still appears to be a better option to them Glasner, Southgate, Mckenna etc that have been linked with us in recent times.
Perhaps, management should offer him a one year rolling contract for next season. Not sure he would decline the offer. He has repeatedly said he loves the job.
As they say..."When the desirable is not available, the available becomes desirable". A one year rolling contract is the ideal currently until he proves himself worthy. I dont have confidence in any coach until there start delivery, the only coach i trust is Pep and he is unavailable |

Critical players we need are 2 Quality Central Midfielder, 1 top left back and a top and proven Striker.
We need 4 quality signing without selling any player apart from Casemiro depature and players on loan. Ugarte can be useful for FA cup and carling cup.
Sesko is an effective replacement for a top striker. |

It would be a ridiculous outcome for all the graft of this season to collapse if we get knocked out in one yeye Champions League playoff The top 5 English are guarantee Champions league football next season, It could be 6, if Nottingham wins the Europa or Aston villa drop out of the top 5 and win the Europa. |

Caveatemptor: Manchester Utd went to a hostile away ground and came away with a massive three points and fans are still complaining? Maybe it would be satisfying if United played well and lost the three points at stake. With a make shift Defence and fragile midfield expecting man utd to attack is like asking the team to commit suicide. All this bullshit about we lost to small team which big team do not lose to small team in the league. Fergie also loses a lost of match to smaller tea |

CapitalCee: Excellent. All these hipsters fancy name coaches are almost guaranteed to fail at man united. Only World class coaches can succeed at Man utd or Former players who are young and just decent like Ole or Carrick. Madrid and Barca always do this Former young players or outright world class. Xavi, Arbeloa, Alonso, Zidane, Solari, Guardiola and Enrique. Or Long term Assistants at the club like the late former Barca coach. The trajectory is very clear now so many traditional clubs are following this method now. Look at inter with Chivu, Milan brought back Pioli, Juve have Spalleti, Napoli has Conte. This is exactly my thought, Many coach that are consider world class has failed in Man Utd, There is no coach coming in that guarantees success. Look at Arsenal for example, they failed and were constantly out of champions league with a coach consider to be world class after Wenger till they settle for Arteta after missing out on champions league for years. |

But regardless of what you say about that team, they qualified despite Africa having 5 slots how do you now compare with a team that couldnt get one of 9 slots playing from a group in Rwanda Lesotho Zimbabwe Benin SouthAfrica
Cape verde dey qualify, This Nigeria no fit . They even gave us a bye removed points from some teams to give us a chance
You know say on the norms we finished 3rd in our group before they started removing points and sneaked into 2nd, yet we coulnt beat Congo who outplayed us This is very funny, Point were only deducted from South Africa and they finished 1st so how did we finished 3rd |

As for wingers, is it certain Barca will pay for Rashford? We also have Lacey. Ineos may not want to spend a lot. So maybe Lacey will just be promoted fully to the senior team We also need a striker that can put fear in the mind of the opposition. |

Trevor012: If you definition of success is winning the league only then yes Arteta too hasn't been a success at Arsenal. Success usually varies depending on the team. At the moment any coach that qualifies Man Utd to champions league every season would be said to be successful since we have not been qualifying consistently, in same vein Arteta is successful as he has returned Arsenal to challenging for trophies and consistent champions league football. |

nani667: The problem is the standards of this club has dropped too much... Fans are now okay with mediocrity.
Chelsea sacked managers until they eventually got it right..back then people were saying the chelsea players were throwing the managers under the bus, but eventually the started winning trophies. I don't understand this 'give the manager time', 'back the manager' nonsense. If a manager is obviously shite, sack him. Finishing in 15th position with that Man Utd team is enough grounds for sacking and Jail time, but bottling the Europa league final in the manner that he did, to a terrible Tottenham team, is inexcusable.
And Garnacho was right to be upset, now coupled with all the damage he has done we will also lose Garnacho because of the Fraud.
