I got one camry 2000 model over the weekend. Thanks to ur information I was able to get the Engine number but the number I got is 5S separated with a wide gap before a seven digit number. I want to know if 2000 model does not have FE as part of the prefix.

There was a thread about how to get the engine number for 2000/01 model camry. Sorry I cannot reference the thread now but I need some clearification. I got a 2000 model camry(4 Cylinder) over the weekend, having gone through the pain of getting the engine number I discover a number that starts with 5S with seven other digits separated by a very wide gap. But my worry is that FE that is expected to follow the 5S is not there. Please can anyone in the house confirm to me how many digits a 4 cylinder engine is suppose to have and weither it is mandatory to have 5S-FE for 4 cylinder engine.
