[b]According to the US Bureau of Economic Analysis, there were 9% less domestic and foreign autos sold in the U.S. in July 2016 than in July 2015, a trend that has been evident since mid-2015. On a dollar value basis, according to the US Census Bureau, Retail Trade of Auto and Other Motor Vehicles in July came in virtually even with last year (at +0.2%) and the general trajectory has been toward softening conditions since the beginning of this year. Together, these two trends combine to paint a bleak picture of the state of the Auto industry. However, this is not a surprise to those that have been paying close attention to the leading indicators of the automobile industry, which since mid-2015 have been pointing toward softness in late 2015 and the first half of 2016. However, the good news is that the same leading indicators that provided foresight into today’s conditions have been trending generally higher over the last three months (YoY basis), suggesting that this softness may begin to mitigate around the fourth quarter of this year or in early 2017. As auto manufacturers ask themselves whether the impending loss of business in the fall season will be offset by potential gains over the holiday season, some of the key leading economic factors to be considered in gauging the strength of the auto industry are as follows:[/b]

When Nissan switched the Pathfinder from body-on-frame to unibody platform in 2013, it made the transition from technical SUV classification to the growing car-based crossover category, but neglected to take its signature styling with it. According to the person who recorded the video, the driver of a $250K McLaren MP4-12C drove through a stop sign and caused a young skater to fall off his skateboard.
