PoliticsRe: PDP Will Rule Nigeria For Next 60years – Patience Jonathan by Barselonia(op): 9:50pm On Mar 03, 2015
PoliticsPDP Will Rule Nigeria For Next 60years – Patience Jonathan by Barselonia(op):
She said that Nigerian women had got their
fare share and attention in Jonathan’s
administration by holding about 50 per cent
of the posts. “The president has fulfilled all
the promises he has made to Nigerian
women in 2011 and he will do more if re-
elected,” she said.

The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has declared that
the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) will continue to rule
Nigeria for the next 60 years. Jonathan, represented by the
Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Maina, spoke at
the party’s women rally in Sokoto on Tuesday.
She said that Nigerian women had got their fare share and
attention in Jonathan’s administration by holding about 50
per cent of the posts. “The president has fulfilled all the
promises he has made to Nigerian women in 2011 and he
will do more if re-elected,” she said.
The first lady also said that the president had 13 women in
his cabinet, and had empowered women in a myriad of
ways. She further said that the president was also working
tirelessly to curb the menace of insurgency.
While commending women in the state for their sustained
support to the PDP, She urged them collect their Permanent
Voter Cards (PVCs). “Your PVCs are your power which will
help you to cast your votes for the PDP candidates at all
levels,” she said.
This, she said, would ensure that women were not
disenfranchised to vote. The first lady also called on
mothers in the state not to allow their children to be used to
cause a breach of the peace before, during and after the
general elections.
Meanwhile the first lady has started the distribution of
some empowerment materials to women in the state. The
materials included 1,200 bags of rice, 5,000 wrappers,
5,000 bundles of guinea brocade, 800 women wears, 2,000
rubber mats, 800 children’s wears and 800 blankets.

PoliticsPresidency May Remove Jega This week by Barselonia(op): 7:16am On Mar 02, 2015
“Once Prof. Jega is removed, Mr. President
will nominate a new chairman who will
declare that INEC is not ready to use PVCs.
And once PVCs are removed, it will become
easier to carry out major rigging,” an INEC
source said.

SaharaReporters has learned that hawkish members of
President Goodluck Jonathan’s inner circle have convinced
him to move in an aggressive and decisive manner to
remove Attahiru Jega as the chairman of the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) this week.
Sources within INEC as well as the ruling Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) disclosed that, barring a last-
minute change of heart, President Jonathan will go ahead
this week to force Mr. Jega to embark on a terminal leave
prior to the end of his year in the middle of 2015.
Our sources said the decision to remove Mr. Jega would
open the door to appoint a new chairman, a national
commisoner of INEC, Amina Bala Zakari, who would be
open to jettisoning the use of permanent voters cards and
other anti-rigging technologies. “Once Prof. Jega is
removed, Mr. President will nominate a new chairman who
will declare that INEC is not ready to use PVCs. And once
PVCs are removed, it will become easier to carry out major
rigging,” an INEC source said.
He added that the Presidency had been able to use its
massive slush funds, sourced from deals in the oil and
energy sectors, to compromise a majority of INEC officials
in the states. Over the last four years, Petroleum Minister
Diezani Alison-Madueke has been stashing away funds
that President Jonathan is now using to bribe electoral
officials, traditional rulers, and even some members of the
civil society groups. One PDP insider told SaharaReporters
that Mr. Jonathan had distributed more than $200 million to
different groups since INEC postponed elections two weeks
ago.
Several sources said the removal of Mr. Jega is a major
part of a strategy developed by President Jonathan’s team
to ensure that they win the presidential and other elections
by hook or crook. The presidential election is now
scheduled for March 28 while governorship and legislative
polls will hold on April 11.
Two weeks ago, facing a groundswell of opposition and in
the face of rising unpopularity, the PDP and Mr. Jonathan
used a series of maneuvers to compel INEC to postpone
elections for six weeks. SaharaReporters had detailed plans
by Mr. Jonathan and his team to postpone elections in
order to slow the momentum of the All Progressives
Congress and its presidential candidate, Muhammadu
Buhari.
The Presidency knew that the APC and its presidential
candidate were short on campaign funds, said our sources.
In forcing the postponement, Mr. Jonathan and his inner
circle achieved a temporary crippling of the main
opposition party’s ability to continue to run political
campaigns and to sustain its electoral lead over the ruling
party.
An APC top official told SaharaReporters that the party was
truly short of funds. “The president and his people have
been putting aside public funds for a long time. They are
now sharing the money around the country, but Nigerians
are not fools. When the elections come, people will
remember that all that money was stolen from them,” he
said.
Prior to the postponement, some PDP officials had confided
in SaharaReporters that their party and Mr. Jonathan were
on the ropes and faced certain defeat. But following the
postponement, some of the same officials now wax
confidence, asserting that Mr. Jonathan and their party
would comfortably win the elections.
A PDP official told SaharaReporters that Mr. Jega’s
removal was a done deal. According to him, the hawks
around Mr. Jonathan, including Ms. Alison-Madueke,
Governor Olusegun Mimiko, Vice President Namadi Sambo,
and presidential aides Doyin Okupe and Femi Fani-Kayode,
believe that the PDP and Mr. Jonathan can weather the
storm of any fallout from the firing of the INEC chairman.
“They believe the APC, the world press, the US and EU will
make noise, but then everybody will eventually calm
down,” said the source. He added that the same situation
played out when President Jonathan removed Sanusi
Lamido Sanusi as the Governor of the Central Bank.
Our sources said Mr. Jega’s refusal to be compromised in
the conduct of this year’s elections had spelt his doom.
“Many RECs (resident electoral commissioners) are in the
party’s [PDP’s] pocket, but Professor Jega has refused
even to pick up the phone calls of those representing the
president. That’s why the decision has been reached to
push him out of the way,” one INEC source said. He added
that Mr. Jega knew that the eyes of the world were on him,
and had decided to run elections that are acknowledged as
credible.
Our sources added that, before and after Mr. Jega’s
removal, the PDP plans to launch a major campaign to
depict him as incompetent, corrupt, and a servant of the
APC. “His successor will come out and say that INEC’s
preparations for the elections are in a state of mess and
that further delay is needed to make proper preparations,”
he added.

PoliticsTinubu, His Cabal Pushing Buhari Too Much –fayose by Barselonia(op): 6:52am On Mar 02, 2015
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called on good Nigerians to appeal to the former governor of Lagos
State, Alhaji Bola Tinubu and his cabal to allow the All
Progressive Congress(APC) presidential
candidate,Maj.Gen.Mohammadu Buhari to attend properly
to his health.
The governor, who said he was worried that Tinubu and his
cabal were pushing Buhari too much because of their
selfish motive and parochial interests.
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public
Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka,in Ado Ekiti
Sunday, the governor said; “since last week Thursday, that
Buhari appeared for less than two hours at the Chatham
House where he said his doctors certified him fit and that he
was returning to Nigeria for the ‘final onslaught on the
PDP,’ he has simply disappeared from public glare.”
He queried; “Isn’t it strange that someone who is contesting
an election in 28 days time could afford to stay outside the
country for going to two weeks?
“Buhari confessed that he actually saw his doctors, why did
the APC cabal lie that he never visited any hospital, even
going to the ridiculous and criminal level of using pictures
taken in Abuja to authenticate claim that Buhari had a
television interview in London?
“Like I have maintained, the same cabal that were involved
in the Yar’Adua saga are also involved the packaging of
Buhari and Nigerians must save the man from these people,
who are only interested in using him to assume power.”
While maintaining that Buhari was not the candidate of the
north, Fayose asked; “shouldn’t it interest Nigerians,
especially the northerners that only Malam Nasir El-Rufai
was a notherner among those who attended the last
Thursday arrangee Chatham House event?
“During the APC primary, delegates from the North voted
for former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and Governor
Rabiu Kwankwaso. Only delegates controlled by Tinubu,
Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Senator Bukola Saraki voted
for Buhari.
“In appreciation of Tinubu’s role, Buhari gave him (Tinubu)
the sole right to choose his running mate, with Tinubu still
being rumoured to be interested in the Vice President
position that he gave his surrogate, Prof Yemi Osinbajo.
“Also, the APC confirmed yesterday that Buhari’s campaign
is being funded by Tinubu and Amaechi.
“All these point to the fact that Tinubu and his cabal have a
sinister agenda against the North, which they want to use
Buhari to achieve.
“Our leaders in the north should therefore intervene and free
Buhari from the APC cabal now because he needs to take
proper and adequate care of himself medically.”

PoliticsPDP Dissociates Self Fromekiti Rigging Scandal by Barselonia(op): 5:59pm On Mar 01, 2015
The leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party
has distanced itself from the ongoing controversy over
the Ekiti rigging tape in which some senior members of
the party were heard planning how to rig the
governorship election held in the state on June 16 last
year.
In the recording, Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose;
a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu
Obanikore Obanikoro, former Senator Iyiola Omisore
and other individuals were heard discussing with a
serving Brigadier General of the Nigerian Army, Aliyu
Momoh, on how to use the military to rig the election
in the state.
Most of the actors involved in the saga admitted there
was a meeting, but they all denied that rigging was
discussed.
In an exclusive interview with PREMIUM TIMES, the
spokesperson of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, said those
mentioned in the scandal did not carry out the alleged
rigging scheme on behalf of the party.
He said the party does not want to get involved in the
controversy triggered by the leaked recording and
would rather prefer that those mentioned in
connection with the matter respond individually.
He said the PDP as a party has never requested anyone
to rig on its behalf and will never be engaged in
electoral malpractices.
“Any tape whether real or imaginary can be concocted
in this digital world; we don’t know what is real and
what is not,” Mr Metuh said. “I also believe that the
actors in their personal capacity will be able to talk
about what really happened.
“As a political party, we have never engaged in
planning or getting involved in any conspiracy to rig
elections or alter the will of the people,” Mr. Metuh
said.
He also said the party has so far demonstrated
maturity in elections held in the last two years.
Mr. Metuh admitted that he had not listened to the
recording but wondered whether the tape was even
authentic at all.
“We had elections in five states in the last two years,
PDP won in only one state; how comes its just that one
that we won, that a tape is suddenly surfacing to say
we planned rigging.
“Why did we not plan rigging in Edo, Ondo, Anambra
and Osun? How comes the only one that we won is the
one they want to tarnish? It is a calculated attempt to
sway the minds of Nigerians that the PDP is not
capable of winning in a free and fair election.
“Our people are even raising the fact that we were
rigged out in Osun; but we are not engaged in
propaganda, we are not engaged in manufacturing
tapes, We won election in Ekiti state because of the
love of our party, and the massive support that our
gubernatorial candidate, Ayo Fayose, enjoys in the
entire state.
The PDP spokesperson said the Ekiti tape saga is just
another propaganda by the APC, saying if the APC is
sure of the authenticity of the tape, it should approach
the law courts to seek redress.
”In this era of campaign, where you have a lot of
propaganda, anybody with any concrete evidence can
go to either the law enforcement agencies or the law
courts to seek redress.
“For us, we are more involved in the campaign than
propaganda; our first thought actually is that it is
simply just propaganda, it is only the court that can
decide if on the matter of Ekiti election, just like the
tribunal and court of appeal have decided. If they think
there is fresh evidence, they can go to court,” he said.

All Progressives Congress party officials say their sources
in London states that Femi Fani-Kayode, the spokesman of the Goodluck Jonathan presidential campaign, is organizing a paid protest against Gen. Muhammadu
Buhari on Thursday when he appears for his Chatham
House engagement.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate is scheduled to speak at 10 a.m. local time on the subject, “Prospects for Democratic Consolidation in Africa:
Nigeria's Transition”.
Fani-Kayode’s mission is to create the impression that
Nigerians are happy with President Goodluck Jonathan, and embarrass Gen. Buhari before the international community.
The loquacious former Minister of Aviation, who was until
fairly recently a member of the APC, has made many
disparaging remarks about General Buhari since he emerged President Jonathan’s principal opponent and grew increasingly popular.

CareerWhat's Happening To Nigeria Police Force? by Barselonia(op): 8:17pm On Feb 25, 2015
Actually, I don't know Were to start this story But let me first ask, Is it really true that federal government have not paid Nigeria police for over 7 month now?

The rate at Which Nigeria police are complaining now is getting too much that they have to beginning drivers of any vehicle that pass through the checking point for peanuts ( not egunje oo ).

I almost encountered this police check point everyday that am going to work But what really bother me today was when a policeman was having a chat with my brother that this days if they catch any scapegoat, they collect anything collectables from him that he would feel like they are cutting his neck..

one policeman even said he don't care if he sees another job that would be paying him 30,000 and leave this their cursed job...
