PoliticsAPC Vows To Win 2019 Elections, Says Nigerians Have No Option by Bashliveon(op): 11:44am On Sep 17, 2017
By Omeiza Ajayi
ABUJA – The ruling All Progressives Congress APC has expressed deep confidence in its ability to make a clean sweep of the 2019 general elections and retain the presidency, boasting of its growing membership which it now puts at 15.2 million.

“I make bold to say that there is no other option before Nigerians other than the APC. We inflicted a very big injury on the former ruling party in 2015. During the campaigns, we realised our own method benefitted us because our manner of campaign was devoid of any hate speech. Theirs was full of hate speech and Nigerians clearly saw the difference.
“The APC currently has 15.2 million members. The eyes of Nigerians are open. They know who is sincere about things. Nigerians know which party to choose when elections come in 2019. So I can assure you we are very confident in 2019 for a re-election” Sen. Shuaibu said.
He made the disclosures when he received the Deputy Director of the Research Office, International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), Dong Weihua at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja. Weihua led a Chinese delegation on a working visit to the APC.
Shuaibu who was responding to questions by the leader of the Chinese delegation on the APC’s re-election chances in 2019 said during the 2015 election campaign, the APC ran an issue-based campaign and focussed on three core areas, namely; the fight against corruption, stabilizing the economy and restoration of peace and security in the country.
He said despite the rot met on ground when the APC took over government in 2015, the current administration has quickly addressed itself to clearing the rot and delivering on election promises made to Nigerians during the campaigns.
“After we took over as a government, we brought out to the open for Nigerians to see the amount of damage done to the Nigerian economy, to every fabric of the Nigerian society. Impunity became a culture. Corruption was an accepted norm. That was how we found this country. We promised Nigerians that we will fix the economy, ensure security of lives and property and fight corruption no matter who is involved”, he said.
Citing ongoing projects particularly in the transport and power sectors, He told the Chinese delegation that the current administration is implementing projects to make the country business-friendly and improve the economy.
“Our entire infrastructure as at when we started this democratic dispensation in 1999 had decayed so much that they did not require fixing by way of repair, they were so decayed that they required replacement… For businesses also, the infrastructure necessary for businesses was also absent because there was no electricity. Our transportation system was so bad that we had to extend our hands to advanced countries to help us fix our infrastructure. Nigerians today I assure you are happy that things have started moving in the right direction.
He also said the current administration has rebuilt the country’s image in the international arena and entrenched the culture of democracy in the country.
“The current administration is giving people their right to vote and ensuring that their votes also count. We have also ensured the right of people to say their views, even though people in some cases have abused freedom of speech, such as hate speech, people making statements that undermine the authority of the state, sovereignty of Nigeria and unity of the country. We assure you that these challenges are not insurmountable, we will overcome them because government will within the limits established by law be able to bring everything under control and ensure that Nigeria as a country continue as one”, he said.
Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Director of the Research Office, IDCPC, Dong Weihua who spoke through an interpreter said the Communist Party of China puts great emphasis on international exchanges with foreign political parties.
“We emphasize on political parties because we believe that parties are the source of decision making, they represent people’s will and also leads public opinion, therefore we will like to communicate and share with foreign political parties. Both APC and CPC are the ruling parties of their respective countries, I believe that we should have more opportunities to communicate and meet up, because i believe this will help promote not only the bi-lateral relationship of our two countries but also China-Africa cooperation as a whole.”
She disclosed that on October 18 the Communist Party of China will convene its 19th congress.
“This is an important political event in china. In that congress, the party will reflect on the achievements it has made in the last five years. It will also set out strategies and policies for the next five years regarding social, economic affairs as well as party building.” She said.
Responding, the APC Deputy National Chairman (North) said the Party was ready to collaborate with the Communist Party of China.
“I feel very happy that the Communist Party of China is consulting with the APC. And I feel some level of collaboration could be created between our two political parties, being the ruling parties in our respective countries. There are so many areas through which we can enrich parties and our people through the exchanges as you rightly put it”.

Politics"Meet With Nnamdi Kanu" - Obasanjo Tells Buhari by Bashliveon(op): 8:30pm On Sep 15, 2017
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to dialogue with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, to curb the secessionist agitations instead of the deployment of soldiers to the South-East.

Obasanjo said this during an interview with Newsweek Magazine.

Ironically, Kanu, had in the past called Obasanjo an “evil man”.

The former President said, “I don’t see anything wrong in that (Buhari meeting with Kanu). I would not object to that; if anything, I would encourage it.

“I would want to meet Kanu myself and talk to people like him, people of his age, (and ask) ‘What are your worries?’ Not only from the South-East but from all parts of Nigeria.”

Obasanjo, who led the final offensive that brought the civil war to an end in 1970, said he had seen too many wars and it was time for Nigeria to move on.

He said he believed that enough dialogue had not been done by both the government and several groups.

The former President, however, said secession was not the answer.

“Those who fought in the war in Biafra will not want to fight any other war. I fought in that war and it was an unfortunate war and I said I have fought one war too many in Nigeria; I don’t want to see another.

“The heavy boot is not the solution. I believe also whatever may be the frustration of any youth in any part of Nigeria; I believe secession is not the solution.”

The former president, who was also military head of state from 1976–1979, said economic development in the country was the only way to solve the various agitations across the country.

Some Igbo leaders have complained that President Buhari, who hails from northern Nigeria, has prioritized the development of other parts of the country to their detriment.

“We need to satisfy the youth in job creation, in wealth creation, in giving them a better, fulfilled life, in giving them hope for the future. There’s no easy way out,” he said.

Hnnn... WISDOM IS ALL THAT IS NEEDED HERE...
PMB SHOULD APPLY WISDOM.....
There was no need for a heavy deployment of soliders to armless people...
Correcting the errors made in appointments would have gone a long way in cooling things...
How many people would u want to kill in dt
crowd? Catalonia has being on their independence agitations, they even had a National which Nigeria played against few years ago. Yet there are no phython dance or bloodshed..
In my opinion, PMB should humbly call for a refreshment or restructuring and then apply some delay tactics like correcting the one sided appointments. Hoped 2019 will be der and he steps down

Politics[BREAKING] Ekiti 2018: Fayose’s Deputy Emerges PDP Governorship Candidate by Bashliveon(op): 4:48pm On Sep 06, 2017
Kamarudeen Ogundele, Ado Ekiti
Ekiti State Deputy Governor , Prof . Kolapo Olusola , has emerged as the consensus candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2018 governorship election .
Olusola emerged from the list of strong contenders for the governorship ticket as the “most preferred candidate” at a meeting held on Wednesday by party bigwigs in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital.
The meeting was attended by serving and former members of the PDP State Working Committee, members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly , chieftains of the party at the 16 local governments and 177 wards , as well as chairmen and members of Boards and Parastatals , among others .
Olusola , an indigene of Ikere Ekiti, which is the second largest town in Ekiti, was adopted before the commencement of a retreat organised for members to sensitise them ahead of the 2018 election .
The adoption of the deputy governor , who is a Professor of Building Technology from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile -Ife , Osun State , was the major decision reached at the party’ s stakeholders ’ meeting.
The communique issued at the end of the meeting read, “After due consultation, without prejudice to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 ( as amended) , we formally endorse His Excellency, Prof . Kolapo Olusola (the current deputy governor ) , from Ekiti South Senatorial District , as our preferred aspirant /candidate. ”
Those who signed the communique are Anifowose Mustapha for councillors; Alhaji Amuda Sunmonu for Ward chairmen; Mr. Femi Bamisile for Local Government Party Chairmen; Dapo Olagunju for Association of Local Government Chairmen; Senator Bode Ola for Chairmen of Boards and Parastatals ; Dr. Modupe Alade (Secretary to the State Government ) for State Executive Council ; Speaker Kolawole Oluwawole for EKHA and the State Chairman of the party, Chief Gboyega Oguntuase .
Speaking with journalists after the adoption, Oguntuase said the party organs would abide by the decision taken by the stakeholders in the overall interest of the party and the entire people of Ekiti State .
He, however, said the adoption would not preclude any member of the party who is interested in the governorship ticket from contesting.
He added that open and transparent primary election would be held in accordance with the rules of the party.
Chairman of Forum of Ward Chairmen, Alhaji Amuda Sunmonu, also hailed the decision to adopt Olusola , maintaining that “Wherever Governor Fayose goes, we will follow him.”
Also speaking on behalf of councillors, Mustapha said all the 177 councillors in the state were solidly behind the governor and that “the decision of the party’s stakeholders remained binding on all of us. ”
The SSG described the deputy governor as a competent and loyal member of Governor Ayodele Fayose ’s political family , adding that his adoption was a reward for loyalty , dedication and commitment.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday ended an amnesty that protected from deportation 800,000 people brought to the United States illegally as minors.
“I am here today to announce that the program known as DACA that was effectuated under the Obama Administration is being rescinded,” Trump’s attorney general Jeff Sessions said.
Sessions argued the amnesty put in place by former president Barack Obama was unconstitutional and “denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same illegal aliens to take those jobs.”
