BREAKING NEWS: KOGI STATE ASSEMBLY ALLEGEDLY SUSPENDS OKENE COUNCIL CHAIRMAN

Kogi State House of Assembly has suspended the Chairman Okene Local Government Area, Abdulrazak Muhammed Yusuf with immediate effect.

This followed a report from the Department of State Security Services which passed through the office of the Governor to the House alleging that the suspended chairman used his position as council chairman to carry out undue arrest, intimidate and torture any one against his oziogu clan and faith.

The Speaker, Prince Mathew Kolawole who read the letter on Tuesday Plenary said the Council Chairman would remain suspended until the investigations are completed.

Prince Kolawole directed the Vice Chairman of the Local Government to immediately take over the affairs of the council.

He also directed the house committee on Local Government to carryout an independent investigation and report back to the house.

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has commended the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HPPADC) for rising to the occasion of managing the ecological menace caused by the operation of dams and other hydroelectric power activities in the power-producing areas of the country.

He gave the commendation chairing a Stakeholders meeting on the dissemination of report on the outcome of needs assessment exercise conducted by the Commission, in collaboration with its technical partner, New Approach, on Thursday.

Governor Bello who was represented by his Deputy, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja at the meeting appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for ensuring the Commission takes off in full swing under his Leadership.

Remarking on other identified areas, Chief Onoja contended that the Governor Bello-led administration has prioritized the Health Sector courtesy of his rapid Health Infrastructural Programs, complemented by ongoing efforts aimed at repositioning the Primary Healthcare Centers in rural areas.

This topic could be for another blog, but just know the approach that I advocate for is a fully independent one where you’re in control of every aspect of your career and creative output.

The downside of pursuing music as an independent is that it’s not easy, and it takes a lot of work. Not only are you responsible for the creative, but you also need to run the business side while being in charge of your own artist development. It can be overwhelming, but I hope this blog will be a good starting point for you and serve as a road map for laying the foundation of your path towards a career in music.


1. Make sure you have a way to make a living (day job)

In popular culture, we romanticize the idea of leaving everything behind and head to the big city to pursue our passion. Unfortunately, more often than not, it’s more fantasy than reality.

It’s probably not smart to drop everything and try to make a living off music right off the bat. If you’re financially well off or have built up a strong following through another industry then maybe this doesn’t apply. But for the rest of you, your priority should be to do something that pays the bills to keep you afloat while you do music on the side.

Some might like the idea of going all-in without a backup plan because they feel the pressure to survive will help motivate them to make it to do music full-time. Hey, it’s your life, but not what I would personally advocate.

Investigators question border agents about dramatic horse patrol photos

U.S. Border Patrol personnel on the scene where dramatic images showed agents on horseback confronting groups of mostly Haitian migrants are being interviewed this week as part of an internal investigation, a law enforcement official and another source familiar with the matter told ABC News.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection launched the review following public outcry over the appearance that agents were using excessively aggressive tactics against vulnerable migrants.

It's unclear how many subjects of the investigation have been identified at this point, but the law enforcement official who spoke to ABC News said most of the interviews scheduled this week involve potential witnesses.

At least two agents were placed on administrative duties following the incident. CBP confirmed the agents involved remain on administrative detail and the horse patrol unit is still suspended from operating in the city of Del Rio, which includes a narrow strip of the international bridge where a Haitian group gathered in September.

Progress updates on any related investigation have largely been kept to a small group of principals. Some at the highest ranks of CBP are out of the loop with the goal of ensuring an independent process.
