The ones you're replying are not novices or kids that don't know how long it takes to make the first real profit. Everyone knows this. Everyone will tell you this when you try out any business.

If you're in Nigeria, and you operate a business that the employees can rip you off and steal from, you'll make massive losses. There's no escaping that.

Employees in Nigeria will steal from you. That's a fact! It's funny when people say this won't always happen. It's because they don't own a business here.

If you're operating a farm and you're not monitoring it every single day, sorry is your case. For example employees literally break eggs into bottles to smuggle out of the farm. Now, of what use will these broken eggs be to them financially? There's just that terrible mentality that we have in this country. Some of the thefts won't even make sense to you.

Someone like you comes off as a straightforward, simple person. It's people like you I pity the most when it comes to getting into certain businesses.
I have another uncle that owns a very big farm. I swear if i dey lie make i die, i went to buy 2 crates from the farm, they do not know me from adams and this people asked me to buy 1 more crate and dey would dash me the 4th crate.

i messaged my uncle to ask if his farm was doing a promo, he said he's been making losses and was thinking about closing it and focusing on the piggery. Imagine your staff doing promo without your notice. cheesy

This thread is in line with the Guy that said he was confused if he should Japa to Canada or UK at age over 40.

I noticed that some people were advising him to invest in Nigeria, some said Farm, others mentioned different options. Firstly, investing in Nigeria as a Medium Scale entrepreneur is the worst thing you can do to yourself in Nigeria, especially as a new business owner. Maybe different, if you are expanding from Small Scale.

Know this "95% of your employees are out there to scam you, including family members, with the exception of God fearing Mums". Years ago i worked with my late Multi-Billionaire uncle. I was shock when i noticed that by 7am, he was at work and he was the last to always close. I asked him that Baba i thought that at this stage your money should be working for you. I thought the managers should be the one reporting to him. Uncle said if he should do that, he would be finished completely. He wanted to travel for his Son wedding in the US, he said he couldn't. i then offered to help.

What my eyes saw within that period. They never knew i was a spying on them. Every single supplier was connected on returns, including his nephew was involved in the scam. Fuel stations that they buy petroleum products from also had agents working with the staff. It was pathetic. In my opinion you can only successfully do business if you are small scale (Kiosk, small shops, Akara seller, bread, provisions) or you are a very big business with a clear cut out business plan of national effects (Line managers responsible for monitoring).

Medium scale business can never succeed here. No be curse. We are not different from our leaders, we are inherently wicked. I am beginning to think that the black race is cursed. If you have money and you have never been into business, Japa is a better option. I remember when my Mum wanted me to Japa after University some 14 years ago, I didn't because i had a good job, a car and was living in Surulere. When i got married, i discovered that life ain't bed of roses, despite my wife bringing something to the table. I still realised that i couldn't give my children the kind of life my parents gave me. In 2004 at SS3, my parents were paying school fees worth 250k per term for my secondary school. I can't dare send my kids to same school and this is 2023. Had to Japa and i ain't regretting.

This is a response to this thread.

Those of you advising the OP to setup a business are wicked. The most useless place to do business is in Nigeria.

95% of Nigeria employee are out there to beat the system.

Kai where do i start from.. My personal experience or helping different family members and acting like i was an ordinary staff in the midst of their real staff.

If there's an opportunity to kill you, they will.

At OP if you have 50 million, investing in Nigeria would turn it to 200k in less than 2 yrs. I swear on my life.

Investing in Nigeria only favors the very poor, (Small Scale) kiosk, akara fryer or small shops, Or the Billionaires (Large Scale) Business.

i am sure you are within the Medium Scale. You will fail.

Japa Pleaseeeeeee. UK would give you rubbish job opportunities. Canada is better.

Awo stands alone. His achievements are unlikely to be repeated any time soon.

The type of politicians we have had since 1999 are of a different breed. Majority of them are greedy, gluttonous, and fantastically self-oriented.

Tinubu is the most accomplished politician in Nigeria in the past 20 years. But he falls into the category I described above.

Same as Mr Atiku, Fashola, Obi etc. Most of the current politicians really.

The worst are the supposed youths amongst them. One would think that they will be different

I agree.

He is a great leader. But he is not what we need right now as president.
What options do we have ? I need someone who understands the group and wouldn’t be seen as a regional leader. The country generally wouldn’t accept Obi for now. His approach for scrutinising everything will also make things slow.

We need someone who can appoint competent people at the helms of affairs. And most importantly and all inclusive leader. That’s why other regions can boastfully win his his state without intimidation.

Can any other region in the country allow a non indigene win elections in their place ?

Considering his influence in Lagos, the number of Men he built, his influence in the region, a maker of Presidents. A freedom fighter as a youth. His all inclusive style and his friendship to all region. A master strategist. Succeeded where Awolowo failed.

Can we name him the Greatest SW leader?

I believe that he’s greater than Awolowo especially now that he is almost declared as the President Elect.

Its the Nigerian way.

When Tinubu is declared the winner, everyone that voted for the APC deserves everything bad thats coming to them. Expect higher insecurity, more looting, increase in extreme multi-dimensional poverty (already at 133 million more than 60% of Nigeria population), and much more.
Tinubu is by far the best.. So painful that y’all will keep trooping to his Lagos to become nuisances..

Hopefully Lagos State tightens its law against sabotages like your people.
