With 24 points from 20 games it's fair to say that Arsenal have struggled this season. The squad is in need of a major overhaul, but unfortunately, that won't be possible until the end of the season.
For now, Mikel Arteta can look to bolster a few areas of his squad - particularly his side's midfield and defence considering how easy it has been for teams to break into Arsenal's 18-yard-area this season.
Arsenal at the moment are in need of a new centre-back, a new defensive midfielder and a new attacking midfielder - here's a look at the players they could sign to fill those roles in January.

The likes of Shkodran Mustafi, David Luiz and Sokratis have been unreliable this season.
All three players have struggled to make significant contributions to Arsenal's defence, to a point where Arteta should be looking towards a complete defensive overhaul once the summer transfer window opens up.
For now, though, the Gunners are unlikely to be able to bring in multiple defenders due to budget restrictions and player availability.

There was panic at a Lagos Hotel last night when the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, got stuck inside the elevator in the Hotel.

The monarch alongside his wife, Olori Prophetess Naomi and other members of his entourage had gone to see the Queen Moremi stage play. When they arrived the hotel lobby, they were made to use the lift to get to the hall where the play was to take place. However, when they entered the elevator with their entourage which reports claim were over 20, it got stuck shortly after the doors were closed.

There was panic at the hotel as the king and his entourage were stuck for almost 30minutes.

They were however evacuated from the basement of the hotel.

Hackers have launched a new ‘sextortion’ scam in which they terrify victims by claiming to have recorded them watching porn.

The racket involves sending people an email which says malware has been installed on their computer, allowing cyber-crooks to capture footage of their intimate solo moments. Victims are then asked to hand over cash in order to prevent the criminals releasing a video of the smutty scene to all their friends and family members.

This scam is known as sextortion and is designed to fleece people out of money. But email spam protections are becoming better at blocking these con-tricks and preventing victims from being swindled.

Now scammers have devised a new way of bypassing security mechanisms: writing the emails in Russian or other languages and then asking their target to run the text through Google Translate. ‘The last time you visited a pornographic website with young teens, you downloaded and installed automatically spy software that I created,’ reads a recent sextortion email obtained and translated by Bleeping Computer. ‘ My program turned on your camera and recorded the act of your indignation and the video that you observed during the indignation. ‘I have a video file with your masturbation and a file with all your contacts on my hard drive.’ Victims are then asked to hand over roughly £700 in Bitcoin within 72 hours to stop the video being sent to their contacts and told: ‘Next time close your cameras, someone can watch this! ‘Limit yourself once a month if you cannot completely switch to NoFap.’ Of course, the whole thing is a scam. There is no video and therefore no reason to hand over the money. Last year, swindlers threatened to release Powerpoint presentations built entirely from pictures of porn-watchers’ moments of ‘joy’.

Smut-watchers were also asked to fork out cash to stop this dirty dossier being sent to friends, family and even work colleagues or professional contacts. Victims were told to hand over hundreds of pounds or face the possibility of the world’s most embarrassing Powerpoint slides being released for everyone to gawp at. ‘I looked at the sites that you regularly visit and I was shocked by what I saw,’ the digital criminals said in...

It may be a fantasy series, but The Witcher isn't going after Game of Thrones' crown. The Netflix production, which premiered today on Netflix, stars Henry Cavill as monster hunter Geralt of Rivia. While comparisons to the wildly popular HBO series are inevitable, Cavill stressed that The Witcher is a much different show that just happens to be in the same basic genre.

"I think comparisons are always going to be made and it's fun," said the Justice League star while promoting the show, via Entertainment Tonight. Targeted screening aimed at men with a higher genetic risk of prostate cancer could prevent nearly one in six deaths associated with the disease, research claims.

Based on computer simulations, scientists say that this method could also minimise unnecessary treatments for harmless tumours.

Around 130 new prostate cancer cases are diagnosed in the UK every day, with more than 10,000 men a year dying from the disease. At present, there is no national screening programme for this disease in the UK.

A blood test known as Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA), which detects proteins in the prostate gland, can be used to evaluate a patient’s risk of getting the disease, but it does not accurately distinguish between dangerous cancers from harmless ones. This, the researchers say, can lead to both unnecessary operations and missed cancers that are harmful.

The founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet TB Joshua might have predicted the current impeachment ordeal of the US President Donald Trump, after a 2016 video of the cleric emerged.

Arsenal are increasingly confident of appointing Mikel Arteta as their next manager this week after holding late-night talks with the Spaniard on Sunday, sources have told Metro.co.uk.

Senior figures from the Gunners, including managing director Vinai Venkatesham and contract negotiator Huss Fahmy, were seen leaving Arteta’s Manchester residence early on Monday morning following City’s 3-0 win against the Gunners on Sunday afternoon.

Metro.co.uk revealed on Saturday that City expected an approach from the Gunners following Sunday’s clash at the Emirates and the club had already given Arteta permission to speak to his former side about an exit from the Eithad.

The meeting at Arteta’s house lasted around two-and-a-half-hours, where he was given promises about the club’s budget, updates on contract renewals and assurances over the board’s expectations in the short-term.

Arteta had been one of a number of candidates to replace Unai Emery a fortnight ago but he’s now the leading contender and the Spaniard has made it clear that he’s willing to put reservations over taking the job in mid-season to one side in order to accept his ‘dream job’.

A Nigerian National Daily, Punch has shared a notice which gave off its stand on the alleged lawlessness witnessed in President Buhari's administration.

In a notice titled "Buhari's lawlessness: Our Stand", Punch stated that it will "henceforth prefix Buhari’s name with his rank as a military dictator in the 80s 'Major General' and refer to his administration as a regime until they purge themselves of their insufferable contempt for the rule of law."

The national daily reiterated that it will not adopt the self-defeating attitude of many Nigerians looking the other way after each violation of rights and attacks on the citizens, the courts, the press and civic society, including self-determination groups lawfully exercising their inalienable rights to peaceful dissent.

It alleged that this administration's actions and assaults on the courts, disobedience of court orders and arbitrary detention of citizens reflect its true character of the martial culture. The SSS and Police were called out by Punch who also accused the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed of vigorously pressing for anti-hate speech laws to restrict social media even after being harassed by the SSS and accused of “loitering" in 2014.

The notice reads in full;
“As a symbolic demonstration of our protest against autocracy and military-style repression, PUNCH (all our print newspapers, The PUNCH, Saturday PUNCH, Sunday PUNCH, PUNCH Sports Extra, and digital platforms, most especially Punchng.com) will henceforth prefix Buhari’s name with his rank as a military dictator in the 80s, Major General, and refer to his administration as a regime, until they purge themselves of their insufferable contempt for the rule of law.”
The entire country and a global audience are rightly scandalised by the unfolding saga over Omoyele Sowore and the unruliness of the SSS and the government; but it is only a pattern, a reflection of the serial disregard of the Buhari regime for human rights and its battering of other arms of government and our democratic institutions. PUNCH views this tendency and its recent escalation with serious concern, knowing as the great thinker, Edmund Burke, said that “the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Nigeria had trod a path, a veritable obstacle course, where repression, especially under military jackboots, was a malignant presence and this attracted heroic resistance by ordinary people, civil society groups and the press. But Nigerians have lately become lethargic, divided by ethnic and sectarian sentiments and weakened by widespread poverty brought on by a rapacious political class and bad governance.
PUNCH will not adopt the self-defeating attitude of many Nigerians looking the other way after each violation of rights and attacks on the citizens, the courts, the press and civic society, including self-determination groups lawfully exercising their inalienable rights to peaceful dissent. This regime’s actions and assaults on the courts, disobedience of court orders and arbitrary detention of citizens reflect its true character of the martial culture. Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) ran a ham-fisted military junta in 1984/85 and old habits obviously run deep. Until he and his repressive regime purge themselves of their martial tendency therefore, PUNCH will not be a party to falsely adorning it with a democratic robe, hence our decision to label it for what it is – an autocratic military-style regime run by Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).
Sowore’s travails are symptomatic: having ignored court orders granting him bail, the SSS, after much pressure following 125 days in captivity, released him only to stage a GESTAPO-style raid on the court where the journalist was standing trial. The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim el-Zakzakky and his wife have spent over three years in detention in violation of court orders granting them bail and ordering their release. A former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, has been held in detention since 2015 in defiance of several court orders, including one by the ECOWAS appellate court that declared his continued incarceration illegal. Under Buhari, the SSS has become a monstrous and repressive secret police, acting often with impunity. Buhari bears responsibility for the state of repression because, as president, he can stop it today.
But the SSS is not alone. The Nigeria Police, whose notoriety predates Buhari’s second coming, has continued its serial abuse of human rights and is ever available to officials who routinely deploy police officers from the mundane abuse of sirens in traffic to arbitrary arrest and torture of victims. The police and military fail to understand that peaceful agitation and the right to associate are fundamental rights.
This situation is eerily familiar: as military head of state, Buhari’s appointee who headed the National Security Organisation, as the SSS was then known, Lawal Rafindadi, unleashed a reign of terror on Nigerians, featuring arbitrary arrests and torture in cells described by inmates as chambers of horror. Under the infamous Decree 2, agents had pre-signed detention papers, court orders were ignored and ouster clauses were inserted in decrees, while the press was specifically targeted with the infamous Decree 4 under which Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabor were jailed.
Returning as an elected president, Buhari has followed the same template, appointing Lawal Daura as Director-General of the SSS, who re-enacted the Rafindadi playbook by his treatment of Dasuki and el-Zakzakky, among others, raided the homes of judges and twice deployed armed SSS heavies to foil the arrest of two former security chiefs by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Nigerian Navy authorities similarly ignored court orders to release Navy Captain Dada Labinjo, who they detained for over a year until his recent release on bail; Nigerian Army too detains suspects interminably on the grounds of being terrorism suspects.
Some governors have borrowed from this nefarious model, deploying security agents and perverting the law to punish critics and journalists. Critics, Dadiyata Idris and Stephen Kefas, have been arrested and arraigned. Agba Jalingo is facing a treason charge for offending the Cross River State Government. Jones Abiri, a local publisher in Bayelsa State, has been charged with terrorism while, in Delta State, two journalists are facing criminal defamation charges.
The regime’s Information and Culture Minister, Lai Mohammed, forgetting how, as opposition spokesman in 2014, he was harassed by the SSS and accused of “loitering,” has been vigorously pressing for anti-hate speech laws to restrict the social media. Abdullahi Sabi, a senator, along with others, has re-presented a hate-speech bill: their sole purpose is to insulate officials from criticism and compel unquestioned acceptance of Buhari’s draconian misrule.
Under the law, suspects cannot be held beyond 48 hours except by a court order. But the regime observes this in the breach. Yet, Nigeria is a signatory to the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, African Charter on Human and People’s Rights and the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment and other treaties guaranteeing fundamental rights. The 1999 Constitution also spells out basic rights. But the regime chooses which rights or court orders to respect or obey. This is unacceptable. Critical segments of the society have been assaulted, silenced or compromised. It is time, as a Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, has strongly advocated, for civil society to rejuvenate itself and send the message to Buhari to “rein in his wild dogs of disobedience.” From the United States has come a message from the Department of State, two senators and Congress telling the Buhari regime to stop its shocking affront to the rule of law, reminding the General that “respect for the rule of law, judicial independence, political and media freedom, and due process are key tenets of democracy.”
Nigeria has had more than its fair share of draconian rulers, whether in military or civil garb, but none has succeeded in breaking our resilience and irrepressible spirit. This regime will not prove to be an exception. Nigeria, and Nigerians, will overcome. The strong desire of our people to enjoy the unfettered freedoms guaranteed by the constitution and the rule of law, including the freedom to speak freely and assemble peacefully, will again outlive, outlast and crush the spirit of despotism.
Buhari can still redeem himself and his out-of-control security agents and reclaim his past facade of tolerance. When Daura brazenly inserted himself in politics by recklessly sending armed masked SSS enforcers to besiege the National Assembly, as acting President, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo promptly sacked him and had him arrested. Buhari should similarly distance himself and his regime from the lawlessness and impunity of the current SSS DG, Yusuf Bichi, by dismissing him, ordering the release of all victims of illegal detention and compelling obedience to court orders. The SSS has not been efficient in the war against terror; it should perform its primary duty to safeguard the country. As a product of statute, its loyalty should be to the country, not to temporary occupiers of public office.
The regime’s repression cannot succeed but will further polarise the society and weaken national cohesion. The Nigerian Bar Association has vowed to defend the sanctity of judicial authority, while Soyinka has warned that disregard for court orders could beget desperation and civil disobedience. Nigerians need to stop their supine acquiescence to oppression and learn to stand up for their rights as many are doing around the world, using all peaceful and legal means, including the right to protest and of peaceful assembly. It is Dasuki, el-Zakzakky, Sowore and others today, who knows who is next if repression is not resisted?

A Lagos Division of the Federal High Court, on Thursday, sentenced a serving senator and ex-governor of Abia State, Orji Kalu, to 12 years in prison for N7.65 billion fraud.

Justice Mohammed Idris who delivered the sentence had earlier declared him guilty of the charge in the case that had been on for 12 years.

Mr Kalu was tried alongside his company, Slok Nigeria Limited, and Udeh Udeogu, who was Director of Finance and Accounts at the Abia State Government House during Mr Kalu’s tenure as governor.

In an amended 39 counts charge, they were accused by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of conspiring and diverting over N7 billion from the coffers of the state.

In one of the counts, the EFCC alleged that Mr Kalu, who was Abia State Governor between 1999 and 2007, “did procure Slok Nigeria Limited – a company solely owned by you and members of your family – to retain in its account, domiciled with the then Inland Bank Plc, Apapa branch, Lagos, an aggregate sum of N7,197,871,208.7 on your behalf.”

The prosecution claimed that the N7.1 billion “formed part of the funds illegally derived from the treasury of the Abia State Government and which was converted into several bank drafts before they were paid into the said company’s account.”

The prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, said the ex-governor violated Section 17(c) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2004, and was liable to be punished under Section 16 of the same Act.

Apart from the N7.1bn, which he was accused of laundering, the ex-governor and the other defendants were also accused of receiving a total of N460 million allegedly stolen from the Abia State Government treasury between July and December 2002.

The prosecutor said they breached Section 427 of the Criminal Code Act, Cap 77, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990.

The defendants had pleaded not guilty to all counts.

During the trial, the prosecution called 19 witnesses while the defendants testified on behalf of themselves .

Residents of Gloryland estate in Isheri Olofin are currently running for safety following a pipeline exploson in the area. Some vandals came to the area this morning to vandalize petroleum pipelines running through the area and an explosion ensued during the act. The fire is still burning at the moment.

Writer and Editor, Blessing Ofia-Inyinya Nwodo, who resides in the area, shared a video from the scene and wrote
Nigerians like to play with people's lives!!! They came to burst a pipeline of crude oil and it resulted in this. I woke up this morning and it sounded like the whole world was on fire, I looked outside the window and a wall of flame was racing towards us and people were running. I didn't know how I reached outside in my sleepwear and joined them. I nearly died of panic because because i had to hunt for keys to open the house and the fire was already close. There is a pipe of crude oil there and people come there to burst it at night. If this little mini forest wasn't here, we would all have been consumed. That man was burnt by the fire and as I'm writing this, he is dead. He was bathing in a river there. The person he came with couldn't make it out of the fire. I am told that this is not the first time this has happened. I know Nigeria is a piece of shit but my mother has lost a house before, she cannot lose one again, the pain will be too great. The relevant authorities whoever they are should come to the pipeline at Igando and do something about it.

A video which has gone viral on social media, captured the moment some members of Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) allegedly closed down shops owned by Nigerians in Kumasi, Ashanti Region's capital on Sunday December 1.

The Ghanaian traders accused Nigerian traders of violating section 27 of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Act 865, which stipulates that the sale of goods or provision of services in a market, petty trading or hawking or selling of goods in a stall at any place in the country must be reserved for Ghanaians.

Other services the Ghanaian traders claimed must be reserved for its citizens include;
-Operation of taxi or car hire service in an enterprise that has a fleet of less than twenty-five vehicles
-Operation of a beauty salon or a barbershop
-Printing of recharge scratch cards for the use of subscribers of telecommunication services
-Production of exercise books and other basic stationery
-Retail of finished pharmaceutical products
-Production and retail of sachet water.

The GUTA members insisted that Nigerians are violating the law by using the ECOWAS protocol which allows the free movement of goods and citizens of the sub-region to trade and do any kind of business in any place, as backup.

Wife of one the Nigerian traders who were victims of the incident, said "Ghanaian traders at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Ghana closed the Nigerian traders shops on Sunday 1st December. The Nigerians refused to be intimidated, came on Monday morning and broke down all the pad locks the Ghanaians used to lock the shops...then fight started with Ghanaians bringing out alot of dangerous weapon, and Nigerians facing then with full force before. Ghana police was able to control the situation.
Ghanaians want the Nigerian traders to leave their market...it is not fair as we also have alot of Ghanaians trading in Nigeria without issues."

Dino Melaye has released another song after his defeat in last Saturday, November 30th rerun election in the Kogi West Senatorial district election.

Dino who is well known for his hit song, Ajeku Iya, shared a video of himself singing the new song just as he tweeted that congratulating the winner of the election, APC's Smart Adeyemi, is like congratulating an "armed robber" after an operation.

Dino maintains that the election was rigged in favour of APC.

Earlier this week, a viral video of a new bleaching procedure surfaced online and it got Nigerians talking.

In the video of a lady was inside a tub filled with water-like substance; maybe bleaching chemicals, while her skin was being peeled by another lady, supposedly a skin expert.

The video triggered heavy backlashes and negative reactions from Nigerians who felt that ladies are beginning to take their quest for a ‘lighter’ skin to a whole new level.

The owner of the spa/beauty home has been revealed. Apparently she is displeased with Nigerians for the heavy backlash that came her way and that of her client after her procedure made it way online.

She lashed at other self acclaimed beauty expert and ladies sliding to her DM asking her for the secret behind the procedure. She threatened to expose them if they don’t delete themselves from her page.

Stressing further, she said her client wanted instant bleaching, which she sourced for and made sure she delivered it to her client as she wanted it. So she doesn’t get why she is being criticized.

A woman has been arrested by the Edo State Police Command for allegedly killing her husband by squeezing his male member until he passed out.

The suspect, whose name has been given as Eki Ekhator, reportedly got into a quarrel with her husband after accusing him of infidelity when he got home late.

According to reports, it was usual for the woman to get into a fight with her husband whenever he returns home late.

On that fateful day, the deceased slapped his wife when their usual quarrel began and she responded by reaching for his trousers to squeeze his penis and testicles until he collapsed at their home in Ukhiri community, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Edo State.

The man was later confirmed dead at the hospital.

When the woman was arrested, she blamed her actions on the devil.

Men of the Homicide Department in the Edo State Police Command are said to be investigating the incident.

A member representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dachung Bago has said that ‘Yahoo yahoo’ boys in Nigeria make more money through cybercrime activities.

The lawmaker who is a member of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on the increasing incidents of SIM swap fraud in his reaction to EFCC’s revelation of how bank officials collude with cybercriminals wondered at the sophistication with which cybercriminals operates.

while asking the anti-graft agency to double effort in tackling the menace of fraud, Bago lamented that yahoo boys are way ahead in cybercrime and transferring huge sums of money from Bank account illegally.

He lashed at Nigerians for always accusing politicians, insisting that Yahoo boys makes more money cheaply and illegally than politicians.

“A single yahoo boy can transfer huge sums of money equal to the budget of a state at a go.

“They sit down with their laptop transferring money illegally from a bank customer to their own, while politicians cannot have money up to a monthly allocation of a local government in four years. ”

The lawmaker urged the EFCC not to spare anyone caught in cybercrime activities, noting that cybercrime laws were sufficient to deal with culprits.

The Federal High Court in Lagos has made an order for suspected Internet fraudster, Ismaila Mustapha, alias Mompha, to be remanded in the prison custody.



Justice Mohammed Liman made the remand order on Monday shortly after Mompha was arraigned before him on 14 counts bordering on fraud, money laundering and running a foreign exchange business without the authorisation of the Central Bank of Nigeria.



In the charges against him, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission alleged that Mompha procured one Ismalob Global Investment Limited and retained in its bank account an aggregate of N32.9bn between 2015 and 2018.



The EFCC said Mompha “ought to have reasonably known that the money formed part of proceeds of unlawful act, to wit: fraud.”



Among other things, the Internet celebrity was also accused of negotiating foreign exchange transactions of various sums with various persons when he was not an authorised seller appointed by the CBN.



The prosecuting counsel for the EFCC, Rotimi Oyedepo, said Mompha acted contrary to sections 5 and 29(1)(c) of the Foreign Exchange Monitoring and Miscellaneous (Provision) Act Cap F34 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 and he was liable to be punished under Section 29(2) of the same Act.



When the charges were read to him, however, Mompha pleaded ‘not guilty.’



While praying for a date for commencement of trial, the prosecution urged Justice Liman to order that the defendant be remanded in the prison custody.



The defence counsel, Mr. Gboyega Oyewole (SAN), said he was not opposed to the application for trial date, but said he had already filed a bail application for his client and had also served same on the prosecution.



The prosecution confirmed that it had been served with the bail application but said it required time to read and respond to it.



Justice Liman adjourned till Friday, November 29, to take arguments on the bail application and for trial to commence.



Meanwhile, the prosecution applied that the judge issue summonses on some of its listed witnesses, including the Director of Trade and Exchange Department at the CBN, Ahmed Umar; and Enu Matthew of the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering, Ministry of Trade, among others.
