That was the case with NITEL and the first private telcos- MTN, Econet- up to the time that Glo joined and crashed the price. That is what competition through private enterprise does. Something that governments can't do by running ruining businesses as they close out opportunities that should be exploited for greater option/choice and discourage efficiency drives.
Long term lease of the land & property of Ikogosi and other potentially touristic places will promote competition, change values and give travel enthusiasts like you plenty of opportunities to make enough money from your passion.
How about thathuh

How many of such places in Canada, UK, US etc are run by their federal, state or local governments?
Are these not the places where Ekiti people and other Nigerians are running o because we have all made our own country a messhuh
When the state government finally gets some sense they will privatise it and make better money therefrom instead of giving out subventions to cronies who see it as their own way of getting a part of the national cake.

Hmmm... I see your point. But still comes down to bad government. If the government were to be efficient and see the value in tourism there would be no reason to privatise it.

Remember, when you privatise the prices go up and now becomes places only the elites and probably average Nigerians would have access too. Which shouldn't be so.

Do you have an idea of how much it cost per night for their hotel? thats if they have any, would it be a nice place for a simple honey moon?
Depends on what you call fun. If it's a cool place you looking for it's okay for honeymoon. Price from 12500 per night.

How much would it cost to lodge at the resort? I'm always scared of visiting such places because it's Nigeria, anything can happen to you.
The least is about 12,500. Comes lesser if you are booking more than one at a time.

This space has been really awesome, I met incredible people . So I am thinking of putting together a "Nairaland smile award" grin for the best contributors to Nairaland; like "top writers" of the year.

The winners are crowd sourced from us here and suggested too. To kick this off, here is two of my choices for best contributors.

Two of the best interactive and quality contents on travel. I have bookmarked places because of those two.

Drop suggestions below , I will review their topics and if they are good , will short list them. Winners would be announced Dec/Jan. I got a few sunrises for em.
Just seeing this.. Thanks for the mention smiley

The resort now houses a bar, swimming pool, trail walk(not too safe) and a beautiful garden.

Best time to visit to have that serene peaceful feeling happens to be between February-April, but to have that fun and exciting feeling, public holidays would be better.

Gate fee stands at 500Naira if you are paying as an individual but comes cheaper in group. But then you get to skip that if you would be lodging at the resor

A giant looking tree then stands alone representing the husband of the women. The people believe, despite these women's differences they can still co-exist and live peacefully only because they still have great respect for their husband.

However in 1952, the spring was brought to limelight by Rev. John S. McGee after he had heard magical tales of it’s existence from the Ikogosi people. He later went on to put the place in good use, building camps and places for relaxation.

And by December 22, 1973, a guest house was opened by the government to receive visitors in the camp. The resort have experienced good face-lift ever since then from the state government but more can still be done especially the trails.

The warm water became the troublesome wife while the cold water became the gentle and peace loving wife.

Same goes for the tale of two trees growing from the same source at the meeting point of the springs. While the rough looking one is the troublesome wife the smooth one is the peaceful wife.

This merging of warm and cold water is the first of its kind in the world.

Now, that’s unique.
.
According to myth the people believe the warm and cold water were the wives of a man, who after much rivalry and fights turned into springs through magical means.

Well, life happened and I lost my blog accessibility somehow, somehow. lipsrsealed

But here we go: smiley

I visited this site in February with some few friends.

The Beautiful Ikogosi spring, located in Ekiti west local government area of Ekiti state, Nigeria.

Easily accessed either through Efon Alaye-Ipole Iloro road or from the city centre and state capital, Ado-Ekiti.

The Ikogosi Warm Spring, unarguably one of the most visited tourist destination in the country unique features comes from it's naturally occurring nature's bliss, of warm and cold spring flowing side by side to form a confluence, with each still maintaining its thermal properties.
