I visited in 2004. I could remember there is a hut where it is written, you must off your clothes before stepping inside else be cursed. Did you get to see that?

Yes but didn't enter.

is that a trouser or a short; or is it convertible?

When next you want to embark on such adventure, I can accompany.

It's a trouser. I converted it to short for flexibility.

Okay.

pls dear pertaining to idanre hill.....pls I will like to ask you two questions... 1..how many days could someone spend on the hill....2..is praying acceptable there?

As a tourist it is advisable not to stay over on the mountain. About praying, you should be able to, as long as you made a good deal and agreement with your tour guide and not too long a prayer or so.

Do you know I have been going to this city for a long time and I have not being to Oke Idanre. I was told one goddess or something is living on the mountain and I don't want to have anything to do with this local voodoo in other not to alter one's destiny

And who told you they are no goddess around you down the mountain too? Climbing the mountain is just for fun and to learn about the culture and history of the people.

There's no way she made that climb with those shoes she's putting on. I'm a geologist, we do that shit in exploring for a living.

Oshey!! Geologist.

How exactly is it not possible

So I got on the mountain on wings shocked

Some of the villagers climb on barefoot or normal slippers.

Nice! visited a while back as a kid, almost 10years now! remember the experience like yesterday.

Oh how exasperated we were after we climbed the 660 steps that led up to the top of the hill.

Some sightings I'm not quite sure you mentioned

So there was this big scribbling like a giant's handwriting on the surface of one of the big rocks atop the hill, apparently it was called the handwriting of God which was conveniently believable to the villagers I guess, seeing as no one could have possibly maneuvered up that stone to scribble nothing, and with such big letterings too

A hut/house where no one goes with their faces to the front, so we had to go in rear wise. going in with your face to the front is considered a taboo

A vegetation, like a small patch of weed or grass said to have remained exactly the same since forever, said to be mystical.

The shrine though! it was both scary and interesting. The sculptures of their deities, especially the ones with disproportioned abnormal body parts, male sculpts with ridiculously huge organs and the female sculpts with oversized mammary glands. lol

Nice adventure cool

Did you get to where unreadable handwriting is. Did you meet a man living on the hill. Do they show you where they bury kings then. Do they show you where original oduduwa crown is. So many places to visit on idanre hill.

Yes, saw the old graveyards. So many...

I remember climbing the rocks here....

Or was it Olumo Rock ?

That feeling of tightness in the chest.... giddiness of low oxygen supply.

You look down and your eyes swim, wondering what sound your head will make crashing on those jagged rocks below undecided

But of course, the mountain climbing only happened in my mind

The OP you try eehh but your safety is my concern, not all glitters are gold. I suggest you ignore some of this private messages cuz Nigeria is something else now. talking with experience and like a typical security expert. all the best.

Sure, I understand you. I work with a tour company now that will put together trips for those that want to go, and I would be a tour guide alongside. But, I still get to do my own travel trips alone.

Sharon, Oranmiyan did not fight any war in Edo. It is not in any of our Chronicles in Edo.

It was a peaceful coming, even requested by Edo people. Such abound in history. George I of England was brought from Germany (being partly related to the Stuart Dynasty of England) through his mother Electress Sophia of Hanover.

In fact the palace of the Duke's daughter he married in Egor (a village then but now a Benin-City quarter) is still there with Ogiegor direct line Duke still in that palace.

Otherwise very good posts on travel generally.

You can try travel-blogging.

Travel Blogging...Thstd what I do.

And about your view...I quite understand your point. That's the Edo part of it and I don't dispute it. I stated clearly I narrated the Yoruba part specifically from the Tour Guide at the centre.
