Why are this people so ignorant of millitary law.An officer under lawful duty cannot breach laws.Instead d person that issued d order will be held responsible. An order is an order.u dnt choose order to follow or d one to reject
A former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka on Tuesday said FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike took a fundamental misstep by verbally abusing a military officer on lawful duty.
In a viral video obtained by our correspondent, Wike was engaged in a tense exchange with an unidentified military officer at the Gaduwa District of the FCT.
The minister was seen accusing the military officer of unlawfully guarding a parcel of land allegedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff.
Wike who questioned the military’s claim to the property, also called the officer a fool.
However, in a statement titled ‘Minister Wike: Power, Process, and the Rule of Law’, Chidoka said Wike diminished the Federal Republic of Nigeria by verbally abusing an officer in uniform.
“Any law enforcement officer, in uniform or plain clothes, represents the President and the sovereignty of the Nigerian state. To abuse such an officer is to diminish the authority of the Republic itself.
Minister Nyesom Wike’s decision to personally enforce a directive at a disputed site was a fundamental misstep. In constitutional democracies, power operates through institutions not impulse.
Executive authority must be exercised or adjudicated through the courts, ministries, and lawful instruments of state, never through confrontation. No matter how justified a grievance, a minister cannot become an enforcer; that violates the very idea of ordered government.
In a democracy, ministers act through process, not presence. A formal communication to the Minister of Defence, whose office oversees the Armed Forces, would have sufficed. If the officers were on illegal duty, the established disciplinary systems would have addressed it.
When a minister trades words with a uniformed officer acting under orders — lawful or otherwise — it corrodes discipline and confuses hierarchy.
The officer’s duty is to obey the chain of command, not verbal instructions on a roadside; the minister’s duty is to act through lawful channels.
The Minister should apologise to the officer for using abusive language. It is not acceptable behaviour.
The conduct of the DSS protective details was equally unprofessional. Their responsibility was to extract their principal from a rancorous and potentially dangerous situation, not to escalate it.
Security officers must remember that their loyalty is to the state, not to personalities.
This episode is a cautionary tale: This episode demeans the dignity of the office of the Minister and undermines the image of disciplined governance”.
Well said...Wike should hav not been there. Communication to d military authorities was necessary .d boy go fire u bullet nothing go happen.Fear d calmness of navy officers...dem dey craze o

"We send money to the UN, we send money to other NGOs, and that money, U.S. taxpayer money, is being used to fund these Fulani militias... associated with, linked to, the same ideology as Boko Haram and ISIS. So, effectively, U.S. taxpayer money is being used to fund Boko Haram and ISIS... that's the reality, that's the fact."

shrinkchido: Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has congratulated the new Acting National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman.
Fayose, who urged the new national chairman to urgently bring peace and unity to the party, said there was no better time to have a new direction for the party than now.
Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, who is also the Sadaunan Takushara, emerged Acting National Chairman of the PDP, owing to the suspension of the Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum.
Reacting to the emergence of Abdulrahman Mohammed, Fayose said the PDP was in dire need of a new direction and the new Acting National Chairman should step in immediately to provide it.
"I congratulate the new chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman. I urge him to unite the party and restore confidence in its members.
"Most importantly, he should look into the shenanigans and injustice done in States like Ekiti and others with a view to correcting them in accordance with the party constitution and existing court pronouncements.
"He should also be a team player and ensure the emergence of a new National Working Committee through a valid National Convention, which should be done immediately after outstanding congresses are held in states and zones, and those done against court judgements are revisited," Fayose said.

Glimpsetv: Man Raises Alarm After Spotting Hundreds of Dangote Tankers, Sparks Monopoly Fears
A Nigerian man has raised concerns after recording hundreds of Dangote fuel tankers lined up on a highway. He claimed that the billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote, might be planning to dominate Nigeria’s petroleum industry.
According to reports, the new fleet of trucks owned by the Dangote Group runs on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Each truck is designed to transport refined fuel products such as petrol and diesel directly from the Dangote Refinery to filling stations across the country.
The company reportedly plans to deploy about 4,000 CNG-powered tankers in total. These trucks are not only fuel-efficient but also help reduce logistics costs when compared to diesel-powered vehicles.
This move, however, has stirred controversy among independent fuel marketers. Many believe it gives Dangote an unfair advantage that could lead to a monopoly in the petroleum distribution sector. Despite the criticism, Dangote Group insists that the decision is purely strategic and aimed at improving efficiency and cutting costs.
By handling its own logistics, Dangote is seeking to distribute fuel products directly — bypassing independent marketers who traditionally dominate the supply chain. This new system, which is expected to fully take off by August 2025, represents a major shift in Nigeria’s fuel distribution model.
With a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the Dangote Refinery is the largest in Africa and one of the biggest single-train refineries in the world. Its massive production scale has raised fears that it could control a significant share of the local market and influence fuel prices nationwide.
Industry groups such as the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) have warned that the move might cripple smaller marketers and cause job losses. The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has also clashed with the company over labor-related issues.
In response, Aliko Dangote has dismissed claims of monopoly, urging other investors to build their own refineries instead of “using the cry of monopoly to stall growth.”
The company also explained that its decision to invest in CNG-powered trucks and manage its own fuel distribution is a response to market challenges, including boycotts and what it described as “unfair competition” from fuel importation cartels.
Dangote further noted that over 30 refinery licenses have been issued to private companies in Nigeria — including BUA, Aradel, and Waltersmith — showing that the market remains open for competition.
He emphasized that the Dangote Refinery has transformed Nigeria into a net exporter of refined products, improving energy security and reducing dependence on imported fuels.
To promote transparency and broader ownership, Dangote also announced plans to list the refinery on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), allowing ordinary Nigerians to invest and own shares in the company.
WorkTheTalk: You don't mean it. Nigerians deserve the kind of leaders the have. This is the kind of reasoning that will continue to leave so many in poverty, while the political class keeps stealing their common wealth.
So Tinubu looting the treasury for the so - called fuel importation using his proxies is called checking Dangote's monopoly. The same Dangote that is exporting fuel to other African countries and the USA.
How come for decades the government couldn't manage the refineries to produce fuel for local consumption and export to check monopoly long before Dangote came on board? Isn't it crude oil they kept exporting, and importing fuel from time immemorial to keep stealing? It's so unfortunate.
Dont waste ur energy....frm d way this nigerians reason out of jealousy u can obviously see we deserve d leaders we get
AustineE1: Even without the coup scare,I think the changes are long overdue, the embarrassment caused Nigeria by the parade of shame going on in Zamfara and Katsina is enough for the president to change the service chiefs, how can terrorists move freely in these states with the cheap excuse of peace talk, who does that. Imagine brandishing assorted weapons and making social media video of their exploits while their admirers sing praises to them. You wouldn't know the damages this has caused Nigeria and how others now view Nigeria as a failed state. My only disagreement with the president on the changes,is that it could have been the entire security heads, including the inspector general of police, national security adviser etc
And yet d only service chief to reject that openly gets sacked.dont forget cds musa said jst last week its a bad move to make deals wit terrorists becos they never keep their end instead it should be complete annilation.
Willy2025: The President has the right to hire and fire. Apart from the coup rumour, the level of insecurity is getting worse every day with the terrorists and kidnappers getting bolder. It appears the military has lost the focus following the death of Gen Lagbaja. Bandits now celebrating openly, many troops and equipment lost to ISWAP attacks, bandits taken over Kogi and Kwara etc. The removal of the service chiefs is timely. I don't know why Egbetokun is still in office.
N yet d coas was promoted to cds.Lagbaja was a more active coas than this oloyede. If lagbaja was alive oloyeye for retire by d end of lagbaja tenure as he wont be appointed coas.cds on d other hand is a ceremonial position n doesnt really command d active rank n file. If tpain sees oloyede as cds material then in my opinion he lacks judgement
