Finally caught up....phew! the way these pages fly though..... Warning......Long write up below. So I had the privilege of meeting with part of the most beautiful minds we have here on NL. And it was fun all the way. I learnt, saw and gained a lot yesterday and I am thankful I had the opportunity to meet with you all. A little intro on those I met...... Singlefade - pretty lady she is but she forgot my cloth. Gave Lero tough time which was enjoyable to watch. Jamean - Taller and more beautiful than she looks in pictures. She made sure we all got something to munch on. And the friends she brought along were hilarious. Wonderful people too. Naanxie - Our very own Miss portable, pretty looking lady. Late comer but we all forgave her well mostly especially the guys.*tongue out* Anu - The lady with a melodious voice, easy to talk to. It was nice meeting you and if you get to see this you should visit here more often. Lero - is as tall as they say he is,with a baritone voice to go with it . Funny and Interesting to talk to. Tolutweety - He is adorable and has a dual personality. One minute it is fun,the other minute he is life coach and mentor. it was nice watching him switch to both modes. Lovely guy, lovely personality. David- Our area father, known by many accepted by all. A charmer that one. Good teacher too. Ferdybaba/TrendyPrince - is definitely a prince and a good looking one too. If your spec is TDH,please grab and don't let go. Adonye - The boss and Don. Very funny individual, enjoyable to listen to and pleasing to the eyes too. Cutetonye - Our very own 'UGO BOSS' Even while introducing himself you can feel that the ego has landed. Another beautiful personality. IamTosin - Introduced a the game which we all had fun playing. Has a cute baby face but we know say all na wash. Baddo lomo. Eldeevee - Baba be forming calm/gentle guy. Good looking too. Thanks for the extra **** it was appreciated. ilori930 - Nice and easy going young man who had to rush off but we forgive you...lol. Hope the intro was a success and biko bia when are we doing ke gi na? Obyno1010(doubt if I got that right) - Finally came out of his hiding place to come have fun. I think I should get paid....whayasay? it was lovely seeing you. Mambani - hope I didn't murder your mind moniker...lol. It was nice talking to you too and plix if you are traveling next time tell me I want 2 travel too. Thanx. And all other people whose name I can't seem to remember but your faces I can never forget. You all had an impact on me yesterday and it was lovely to hang out and sometimes watch you all. For those who missed out, I was like you last year but you can be like me this year. There is always another time for us to share these memories again with The Almighty by our side. **Catwalks out on wobbly legs** |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Things I Learnt During Interviews No One Will Tell You. by beau49: 11:20am On Dec 27, 2015 |
rationalmind: STRUCTURE YOUR ANSWERS, PREPARE BULLET AND DETAILED RESPONSES
I once read the diary of a joblander. Beau49 I think. She talked about preparing so hard for an interview with stanbic ibtc. It suddenly occurred to me just as she's preparing hard, others are equally preparing hard and interviewers won't take everybody. So it all boils down to who has the best response. In my experience, the detailed one is, the better.
What do I mean?
While I was being interviewed, A question came up. Rationalmind, tell us about your project in school.
I could have said, The tittle of my project is the design and construction of a 5kva voltage regulator. Incorporated in my design were four relays, a microcontroller.........
This was how I answered.
"You'll agree with me that in Nigeria, voltage fluctuation is a very common phenomenon. This voltage fluctuation results in conditions known as over voltage and under voltage. Over voltage occurs when the voltage level goes above the nominal voltage range which is 220-240V and under voltage is the reverse.
These voltage anomalies damage our household appliances and as such, a device that regulates voltage comes as a relief. As a result, I set out to design and construct a 5KVa voltage regulator also known as stabilizer. Incorporated in my design were four relays......" The interviewers obviously were pleased with my response.
You'll agree with me if two applicants were to be asked that question and they had the same project topic, the second will most likely get the job.
Another important thing is to prepare bullet responses. Have at least bullet responses to, why do u want to work for us? Where do you see yourself in five years time? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What do you know about this company?
I had bullet responses to all those before going in and was praying they ask one of them. Luckily, I was asked where I see myself in 5 years time.
By the time I finished, one of the interviewers asked if I wanted to be a governor? I asked him why?
He told me my answer was more of a brilliant manifesto and I should consider politics.
Another told his fellow panelists, "this guy really needs this job" he came very prepared
In my mind, I was like, you guys should thank your stars you only asked one of the questions I was hoping you'll ask. At that point, I knew the battle was won and it wasn't much of a surprise when two weeks later, I got a mail stating
You are one of 7 candidates selected based on your......
And before I end this, yes, I unleashed my passion weapon. Told them my love for telecoms made me volunteer to work in a telecoms firm without pay .
Follow all these hidden lessons especially the ones on passion, detailed and bullet responses and you're close to landing your dream job. This is beautiful....who wouldn't want to have someone like you as an employee. I am grateful you took a little from my experience. I am praying from here on out the sky would be your starting point. Congrats dear.....I am patiently waiting for one-tenth. |

In mine I included all that you mention above.
It all depends on the recruiter and what they want.
Why not try and make your cv two pages? The second page doesn't necessarily have to be a full page. If you have no experience add NYSC experience there. |

anitank: Actually my company takes care of my transportation and housing, and the country is tax free. So you're pretty much only paying for feeding which is not even expensive. You don't have to also spend much on clothing cos you wear uniforms Oh! Now I understand you better. Which country is that? Because I doubt if such a coy exists in Nigeria and at the same time still pay one well. |

Very easy.... Once it is night time whether or not he is ready to sleep,he should go and lie down on the bed. Even if she is there or not. He should do that as much as he can and without saying anything. Nobody will tell her to shift base and I doubt the wife would allow her to sleep on the same bed with you. Nonsensetical..... |
