I sponsored my spouse, and it took roughly a year. AVO is peculiarly known to have a timeline of one year minimum for spousal sponsorship.
For the documents required, you need to study the application package with your spouse, so many proofs and supporting documents are required to prove that your relationship is genuine.
I submitted random photographs, including few of our wedding pictures, evidence of on going communication (WhatsApp/emails/Facebook messages), evidence of my trips to Nigeria, copies of my entry and exit stamps on my passport, wedding program and invitation card, evidence of financial support, letters from friends and family members, evidence of joint bank account, I can't remember all again.
You can apply for a visit visa, while spousal sponsorship application is on, but AVO rarely grants such visas.
Ensure that you read through the application package, because changes are made from time to time, and if you make any mistakes, the application is returned to your spouse in Canada, till the error is fixed.
Thanks so much for this sir

Good day everyone. Please I'll like opinion on this. I just got married to my husband here in Nigeria. My husband is Canadian and I am Nigerian. He is planning to sponsor me to Canada as his wife (spousal sponsorship). I just want to know if anyone had a successful application and how long exactly before cic gave them visa? Did anyone had to wait for a year? And also I would like to know what documents were required exactly. I have done change of name and looking forward to getting a new international passport.
And also I've been denied visiting him before we got married I will therefore like to know if I can apply for visit while the application for spousal sponsorship is ongoing?

a friend of mine got married to a Nigerian - Canadian, he applied for spousal sponsorship months ago. Last I heard, his file has been moved to Accra, though he resides in Japan. I could find out from him what docs he sent and the latest update.

I think your marriage gives you a better shot for a visiting visa now, and the two applications can run concurrently.
Thanks so much for this

Don't say that dear a lot of people have gotten fun funding with low GRE score it is just that you need to research schools. I am a testimony of it, my GRE score was abysmal I have 281 and I secure a GTA with full funding. You can actually sit for another GRE while preparing for the GRE also make research for schools that will find you with the GRE scores you have now
b

I wrote GMAT twice while seeking to do a STEM score in my first interview and got no funding. After being denied the Visa I changed my my school, applied to my undergraduate course of study and got Full tuition waiver tho I wrote Toefl sha. So low score doesnt matter. My new school didnt even need my GMAT as GRE was needed for my course of study but later waver for me

Please don’t use your credit card for cash transactions as the interest accumulates daily until you pay in full. It’s not $22.99 but 22.99% on the amount (average daily balance actually) and there’s also a flat fee for cash advances. Not worth it pls, use a debit card for cash transactions

Why fort mac?
Fortunately the cost of living has greatly reduced aftee the downturn and the fire incident. Despite that, Fort mc is still not doing bad. It's a good city and there are lots of Nigerians with family currently living in the city.

I don't know much about business ideas but to kill boredome is not hard. Just like you, I am a Lagosian. I was born and bred in Lagos, Mushin to be precise.

- First thing will be to get involved in the community via volunteering. Volunteering is part of life in Canada and a good way to meet good people. The importance of volunteerism will be emphasized at your oath ceremony on becoming a Canadian.

- Get involveed in community sports for kids. You will get to meet other parents through that means.

- Go on a road trip to Banff and Jasper atleast once a year. If you are more adventurous, you can extend the road trip to BC.

- Visit Drumheller to check out fossils.

-Join parapos - members usually have events like naming ceremony, house warming, birthday parties etc lined up for the year.

- Get involved in church or mosque activities. Take the kids to playground. You will meets other parents here too.

- Get involved in social clubs at work.

^^^^^^Those are the ways I have been able to overcome boredom. I have visiting Quebec and Ontario with the family on my bucket list for next year.

That is a good plan. You would have a good coverage of Central to Southern Alberta, while anyone thinking of Central to Nothern Alberta can also launch from Edmonton.
Please I need advise about living in Fort Mc Murray with hubby. Do you think it's a nice city to start a family and also being someone who has lived in Lagos all her life, how can one kill boredom, what business ideas also as I heard it's a small city.

Hi love. I attend TAMUC. Business Analytics department. It's an amazing school. Amazing beyond words. I had plans of changing schools. But I decided otherwise.
You won't regret TAMUC. The only challenge is the transportation issue. First thing you do as soon as you arrive is to get a car.

I started spring this year. And I work as a graduate assistant. I earn about $1100 working 20 hours a week. And i also pay instate tuition. I am also expecting 2 scholarships later this year.
Cost of living in commerce is less than 500 dollars a month. And if you don't want to live in commerce, you can always live in Dallas and shuttle.

I promise you would love it here.

Take care and good luck❤

And currently because my school delayed my transcript for more than 3months I couldn't get any GA positions any chances I would be able to get when I get to sch? Or would u advise I shift my admission to Spring if that's possible? What do u think pls.

Smiling....

Tanx senorita. I'l glad someone finally got my point. It's all about percentage. I was speaking personally, but those jimmies misunderstood me. I can't spend more than 10% on a want. 10% of what I have is what I allot to my wants. 50% to my needs. If my cash asset is 2m, 10% is 200,000, so yea, I can spend 200,000 on my wants. But if I'm on my way to buying my wants and my loved ones tell me they are yet to pay their school fees, I'd be an insensitive person if I went on to stil buy my wants.

My needs come equal to my loved ones' needs. Loved ones' needs, come before my wants. My wants come before my loved ones' wants.
Just so you know that what is a want to you might be a need to others. Be informed. Ur calculation/policy is okay but spending 90% of what I have as opposed to ur 10% means too things either it's a Top priority need to me or I am not prudent in spending. And how do u even know if buying that phone is 2% of his income. Pls let's be realistic and keep our judgemental thoughts to ourselves... BTW Need an iPhone 6 phone
maybe a naija used or a UK used. Pls indicate if u have any for sale. Thanks
