Source: www.lindaikeji..nl/2014/09/tb-joshua-releases-new-footage-of.html?m=1 Just received this article from freelance journalist, Ihechukwu Njoku. He wrote it. Apparently there's new footage showing the building collapse that killed 115 people. Find it below... Maintaining his controversial stand that the tragic collapse of a building at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) was an ‘attack’, T.B. Joshua has released new security footage of the incident through Emmanuel TV’s official YouTube channel. The new footage from a security camera stationed in the church premises shows the bottom of the building as people walk innocently around the environment. Suddenly, a huge plume of smoke is seen coming from the side of the building, bystanders running for dear life as the collapse occurs in mere seconds. A still picture at the end of the shocking footage shows the extent of the disaster with ‘floors piled on top of each other’. Through a Facebook post, the embattled cleric reiterated that, while co-operating with the ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal collapse, “The church views this tragedy as part of an attack on The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations.” The SCOAN had earlier warned media not to pre-empt the investigation with ‘unconfirmed stories’ that ‘give the impression the collapse was due to structural failure’.

https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/168652-breaking-ekiti-shuts-all-state-courts-indefinitely-after-pro-fayose-thugs-attack-judge.html Authorities in Ekiti State on Thursday ordered the immediate closure of all state courts there after political thugs backing the governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose, descended on a court, attacking a judge and other staff. The assailants attacked Justice John Adeyeye, beating him up and ripping his clothes for being allegedly rude to Mr. Fayose. The pandemonium that ensued scuttled the Ekiti State Governorship Election petition Tribunal sitting billed for the day at the High court, Ado-Ekiti, as judicial workers abandoned their duty post and ran for safety, witnesses and the state judiciary authority said. The state Chief Judge, A. Daramola, ordered all state courts to remain closed until adequate security measures are in place, a statement signed by the Chief Registrar, Obafemi Fasanmi, said. “The chief judge has noted with increasing concern the spate of attacks perpetrated by political thugs and their persistent presence in the premises of the high court Ado Ekiti in the past few days,” the statement said. The attack on the court was the second of the week after thugs stormed another court in Ado Ekiti on Monday and attacked the judge, O. Ogunyemi, the statement added. “The sitting was disrupted and taken over. The judge was ferried to safety by police after he was threatened by the militants,” it said. The registrar said police officers who were at the court on Thursday did nothing to stop the second attack. “On Thursday, another set of thugs invaded the premises of a court presided over by J.O Adedeye by beating up and tearing his suit while police on guard looked unconcerned and uninterested as judges, magistrates, and other members of staff had to run for their lives while court properties were damaged. “The court room of the Hon. Chief Judge was not spared the orgy in the orgy of assault and destruction as members of staff attached to his office were beaten up and his court record book torn into pieces by these political thugs who also invaded and disrupted proceedings at the election petition tribunal within the High Court premises in Ado Ekiti,” the statement said. Witnesses had earlier told PREMIUM TIMES how pro-Fayose thugs besieged the court premises as early as 6a.m. Justice Adeyeye of High Court 3, who was miffed by the huge number of the thugs as they surged towards the court premises had approached Mr. Fayose and urged him to prevail on “his supporters” to keep a safe distance from the court premises, the witnesses said. An enraged Mr. Fayose was said to have shouted the judge down. Immediately, thugs numbering about 20 pounced on Justice Adeyeye, beat him up and tore his clothes, while his co-workers scampered and shouted for help. Justice Adeyeye was taken away for medical attention at a private hospital in Ado-Ekiti. Barbaric attack Meanwhile, a non –governmental organisation, Society for the Protection of Law and Justice, has described as barbaric Monday’s attack on judges, lawyers and workers at the court. The group said a situation where judicial workers were assaulted in the courtroom and premises, in the course of their work, “is most condemnable”. The group in the statement signed by its General Secretary, Peter Adebayo, said a situation where political violence is carried out in a court premises is anarchy at its peak, a development he said constitutes a serious threat to the nascent democracy. The group called on relevant judicial bodies and security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation into the crisis and ensure that perpetrators are brought to book. On allegations that some legal practitioners and policemen also aided the attack, the group said such officers should be punished if found to be culpable. The statement reads in part, “The society condemns in strong terms Monday’s attack on judges, judicial workers and litigants at the High Court, Ado-Ekiti. “That attack on the temple of justice is hooliganism carried too far. It is an ill wind that will not do anyone any good. And all lovers of peace, democracy and development in the country should rise in unison to condemn this barbaric act. “Every decent society is governed by rules and laws and the court is to interpret such laws. And there are several provisions in the law to address any seeming case of injustice instead of resorting to self-help. “We will advise all parties in the case to allow peace reign in the state and present their cases as responsible as possible, just as we warn politicians live by examples.”

Source: www.punchng.com/news/three-feared-dead-in-benin-building-collapse/ Residents of Uzama Street, Off Oliha Quartres, in Egor Local Government of Edo State, were on Friday thrown into mourning when a section of a building located on the street collapsed, killing no fewer than three persons. Our correspondent gathered that the building, operated by a popular pentecostal church in Benin, caved in when some youths in the area, hired by the management of the church, were carrying out a demolition exercise in order to create more space in the church compound. One of the hired youths, who survived the incident disclosed that the owner of the building hired him for N3,000 per day. He told The PUNCH under condition of anonymity that, although nine of them were hired by the owner of the building, five of his colleagues were breaking the pillars of the building before tragedy struck. He said that other survivors were taken to an undisclosed hospital in critical condition. He explained that the building, which collapsed at about 1pm, housed some officials of the church, who fled as soon as the incident occurred for fear of being lynched by angry youths in the area. “The owner of Christ Chosen Church Deliverance Centre told us to demolish the building because they wanted more space in the compound. But some of us went out to eat because we were hungry. “As we were eating, many people rushed to where we were coming from. We thought it was a fire outbreak. But when we got there, we discovered that the building has collapsed. “We were nine in number but four of my colleagues were in the building before it collapsed. Two were brought out alive with injuries. One died and two others are still inside. “We have already demolished the upper part of the building and wanted to break the pillars of the lower parts, so that the building would fall. It was when one of us started work that the building fell,” he said. One of the victims(Credits: Alexander Okere) A teenager, Osazu, suspected to be a relative to one of the victims who was said to have been brought out of the debris dead told our correspondent that he was alerted that the building where his brother, Orosa, aged 26, was working had collapsed. “It was when I came back to rest after work that my brother came to tell me that the building where my brother went to collapsed. I don’t know if he is still alive because people are just telling me what happened,” he said. Another resident attributed the collapse to greed on the part of the owner. “How much is a crane to demolish the building? When I was passing, I wondered why a big church like this cannot hire a crane for N65,000 per day to do a neat job. Some crowd of angry youths in the area were seen destroying the church auditorium, while a vehicle operated by the church was set ablaze. A vehicle belonging to the church set ablaze by angry youths(Credits: Alexander Okere) However, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Folusho Adebanjo, who visited the scene of the collapsed and confirmed the incident, told The PUNCH that one, out of the five persons working in the building died. “One is unfortunately dead. There are rumours that we still have like two people there. “Of course, there is absolute calm there now. Some policemen were also seen trying to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

Source: www.theguardian.com/world/2014/sep/19/florida-shooting-six-children-among-eight-dead-say-reports Thursday 18 September 201422.30 EDT A grandfather shot and killed his daughter and six grandchildren at his Florida home on Thursday before turning his gun on himself, law enforcement officials in Floridasaid. The children’s ages ranged from three months to 10 years, Gilchrist County sheriff Robert Schultz said at a press conference in Bell, a small town in central Florida about 30 miles west of Gainesville. Schultz named the killer as Don C Spirit, 51, a town resident who called 911 at about 4pm making threats against his family and himself. He was alive when the first sheriff’s deputy arrived at the house, Schultz said, but killed himself soon after. The Orlando Sentinel reportedthat in 2001 a man named Don C Spirit accidentally shot and killed his eight-year-old son Kyle with a high powered rifle in a hunting accident. Florida Department of Corrections records show he was released from jail in 2006 after serving three years for firearms offences relating to that incident. At the press conference on Thursday, Schultz said there was an interaction between Spirit and the deputy, but that it was believed the seven victims were already dead by the time the officer arrived. The deputy then searched the building and found “multiple victims with apparent gunshot wounds”, he added. “When he called 911, he said enough to alarm us to get someone there, and we needed to get there in a hurry. “We’re asking for prayers for this community and the families involved. This is a small county. We’re all family here. We will continue to be family and we will work through this.”
