Boko Haram militants attacked a platoon led by the son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, shooting him today. He sustained serious injuries to his legs and was being transported to the hospital at the time of this report.
Adeboye Obasanjo, an army engineer, was a Lieutenant Colonel at the 3rd Division in Jos, Plateau State.
He and his platoon were engaged with Boko Haram militants at Baza, which is the village of the General Officer Commanding of the 3rd division when the incident took place. The Lieutenant Agwu of the 234 battalion, GOC of the 3rd Division, Major Gen JS Zaruwa and Colonel Victor Ebhaleme who serves as the Brigade Commander of the 23rd Army brigade in Yola were all together advancing towards Michika when Boko Haram fighters unleashed the deadly attack on the soldiers.
Twenty four soldiers in the platoon were reportedly killed by the militants.
Apart from the dead soldiers, the army also lost an armored tank to the militants. As a result of the attack, the army has moved sensitive weapons from Mubi to the Brigade headquarters in Yola leaving Mubi vulnerable to attack. The town of Mubi has practically been deserted following the closure of schools and massive retreat of soldiers from the city.
The former president is currently traveling in Singapore according to family sources.

Most of the times we takeTOKUNBO CARSto Abuja from Lagos for sale. Three days ago, we sent some of our guys to deliver two cars to buyers in Abuja.
I was going to call these guys to find out where they were but their phones were not reachable for the whole day! I was worried and began to make contacts.
Thank God they have been able to reach an uncle before they collected all their phones and the uncle had also reached a lawyer.
These guys were arrested for no offense, they had all the papers intact! Unknown to the police men, the cars were more than two.
The third guy who had driven past the police men had called some people and later turned back.
He was also arrested and they collected his phone immediately, not knowing he had contacted people.
They were all taken to SARS police station somewhere in Dugbe.
We were able to trace them to the station, on getting there, we saw hell! They were furious and began to ask questions on how we got there.
The shouted, ”who called you, who called you”? To cut the long story short, we were able to take out our guys after parting with 80, 000 NGN.
The guys narrated their experience in the cell, many cell occupants who have been there for days without anyone looking for them are being killed and sold.
They said the boss usually come with people at night, point to two or three occupants an they would be driven away without being returned.
Our government needs to investigate this and take necessary action to avoid another ‘civilized’SOKA

In a recent release by Vanguard, Genevieve Nnaji tops the list of the top 10 richest celebrities in Nigeria. According to the list, the actress is said to be worth over N220 million. In the selection process, endorsement deals were the major criteria and Genevieve has signed many deals with multi-national companies in recent times including Etisalat, Amstel Malta, Range Rover Envogue and MUD Cosmetics.
Despite being missing from the Glo Ambassador list, Genevieve still knocks out big names like Iyanya in 2nd place at N151 by a whopping 69million in second place with N151 million, music group Psquare who came in third with N140million, Wizkid at number four with N101 million and D’banjwho occupied fifth place with N100million.

The Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Suleiman Abba NPM, mni, today, August 20, 2014 at Force Headquarters, Abuja, received the US Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, James F. Entwistle.
The US Ambassador congratulated the Ag. IGP on his new appointment as the Police Boss and thanked the Nigeria Police Force for its high level of co-operation and huge partnership with the US Embassy in Nigeria.
The Ambassador thereafter presented High tech Bomb disposal robots/equipment to the Nigeria Police Force. He also reassured the Ag. IGP that his country will continue to render relevant supports to the Force in the areas of training and security cooperation.
The IGP, while responding, appreciated the Ambassador’s courtesy visit and thanked the US government for assisting the Nigeria Police Force in areas of investigation, management of scene of crime as well as position of equipment.
Describing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) executed by the Nigeria Police Force and the US government recently as a huge partnership that will improve and modernize Police training in Nigeria, the IGP restated his commitment to continue to drive reforms and transformation of the Force in order to reposition the Force for better service delivery and promised that the newly donated equipment would be put to effective use.
