Politics › We Are Ready For Reconcilliation, Sheriff-led PDP Says.. by BeeBeeOoh(op): 5:13pm On Oct 06, 2016 |
Abuja – The Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction of the PDP says it is ready to reconcile with the Ahmed Markafi-led faction.
Prof. Wale Oladipo, National Secretary of the Sheriff factihe disclosure while addressing newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.
Oladipo said some eminent Nigerians, some of whom were apolitical, had been meeting with the feuding parties with a view to resolving the lingering crisis.
He said both Sheriff and Markafi attended a peace meeting initiated by these Nigerians, adding that an agreement was reached for an amicable resolution of the crisis.
“The two leaders have agreed that a 24- man committee of committed PDP leaders and members from all over the country will be formed to chart the way forward for our party.
“This is with a view to bringing this unnecessary crisis to a stop and making sure that our party comes out of it stronger.
“Sheriff is out of the country, as soon as he comes back, himself and Makarfi will put this committee together.
“This committee will be mandated to quickly come up with a template and make PDP what it used to be with the restored vision of its founding fathers.
“We are working to selecting the 12 members that will join the other 12 to form the committee to resolve the crisis,” Oladipo said.
Oladipo disclosed that Sheriff was in touch with his National Working Committee on the peace move from his base abroad.
“He is speaking with us and the names are being compiled; we will talk with the other side before we make anything public.
“I can assure you that we are ready,” he said.
He said that the party would ensure that there would be timeline for the peace move, adding that it would be flexible and realistic.
“It will be realistic and flexible because we want a holistic solution that can withstand the test of time,” Oladipo said. On the date for the inauguration of the peace committee, Oladipo said that both Sheriff and Makarfi would meet and decide that.
On the Edo election, he said the party would engage legal means to contest the outcome of the governorship poll. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/10/ready-reconciliation-sheriff-led-pdp/

Politics › 22 Top Federal Officials Sacked Over Budget Padding by BeeBeeOoh(op): 12:23pm On Oct 06, 2016 |
A total of 184 civil servants were disciplined for their different roles in the padding of the 2016 budget.
This was contained in Buhari’s authorised biography, ‘Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenges of Leadership in Nigeria’, written by Prof. John Paden and presented to the public on Monday.
Of the 184, Paden said 22 top officials were dismissed from service.
He said the President viewed the padding as an attempt to scuttle his administration’s innovations, hence his decision to wield the big stick against the culprits.
The author wrote, “Buhari himself was frustrated by earlier padding of the budget by bureaucrats in some of the ministries.
“This was interpreted by the Buhari team as an attempt to scuttle the innovations proposed by the President by inflating their costs.
“When Buhari found out, he was reported to be angry and ordered a purge of the ministries involved from the Director-General down.
“Twenty-two top officials were dismissed, including the budget director. In all, 184 civil servants were disciplined.”
He added that even after the budget had been adjusted downward by the National Assembly, the country would still have to borrow $3.5bn, as a result of the drop in oil prices.
In February, Buhari had while addressing the Nigerian community in Saudi Arabia, vowed that all those involved in the padding of the 2016 national budget, which led to the discrepancies in the document, would face severe punishment.
He had said the alterations, which he described as embarrassing and disappointing, made the document, being debated in the National Assembly at that time, completely different from what was prepared by the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.
Describing those responsible for the distortion of the budget proposals as entrenched interests, the President had said since he had been holding public offices, he had never heard about budget padding before the incident.
Buhari had added, “The culprits will not go unpunished. I have been a military governor, petroleum minister, military Head of State and headed the Petroleum Trust Fund.
“Never had I heard the words budget padding. Our Minister of Budget and National Planning did a great job with his team.
“The minister became almost half his size during the time, working night and day to get the budget ready, only for some people to pad it.
“What he gave us was not what was finally being debated. It is very embarrassing and disappointing. We will not allow those who did it to go unpunished.”
Reaffirming his government’s zero tolerance for corruption, Buhari said the war against corruption was a monumental task that he was determined to tackle successfully. http://punchng.com/22-top-federal-officials-sacked-budget-padding/

Peter Obi is a human, he has his own flaws, he is bound to do mistakes & nobody will be crucified if he/she finds fault in Peter Obi, but please, it would be a great pleasure if you could point out those fault of Obi's so that would see. And after that, tell us your state of origin so we could start from there also. #shalom |

mrvitalis: U likes just have bad perception about this government and wont dee anything good in County
Is there a prospect of oil in the places being drilled..?? Yhe ans is yes.. So why should we leave our resources
What will be bad if we produce 10 million barrels per day and it still only country 20% of our earnings as a country
U really don't know what diversification is and how it works We are talking about making Nigeria non oil dependent country, but u still cheer this administration for wasting money they would have channelled into agriculture making it an enabling environment for farmers. What do we get in return, removal of subsidy on fertilizer & handing it over to retired generals. What sort of diversification is that?? Please Stop Being An Enemy Of Nigeria..U likes just have bad perception about this government and wont dee anything good in County Bro, Buhari is the architect of his own problems, he knows the right thing to do but chose to do other wise. So don't try to make other people take the blame.. NB: Patriotism Is Not Cheering Your Country In Regression, It's About Making Them Sit Tight When You Noticed They Are Deviating. But, you & your ilk would rather die than to castigate this government & anybody that criticizes them is automatically a wailer or IPad yoot Happy Recession Once More |
