LiteratureTha Wounded Heart, Episode 3 by BeigJawnson(op): 9:34am On Sep 08, 2020
As we all knelt down, Mrs Adepoju started lashing us with strokes of cane and raining curses as usual.
She ended her course of curses by shouting with her ugly voice, if you useless children like, don't do my assignment. First thing tomorrow morning, all assignments should be on my table. She went out mubbling words with bitterness.

Students flared up, some were saying, how they wish they have a mysterious power and get her killed, some saying they wish they had guns and get her killed. I and my thoughts, saying in my mind, why is this woman like this? Right from SS1, She always tell me, I can't become somebody in life now again with her curses and yet our class teacher. God I must become somebody in life.

How am I going to get this assignment done, my mind filled with thoughts upon thoughts. School closes for that day. After afternoon assembly, every other students on their way to their various houses.
I and Quadri went to tha school library to get tha assignments done, we solved all mathematical problems she gave us. Quadri was tha one teaching me to tha best of his knowledge. We both went to our various homes.

Next day in school, we had our subjects till it was mathematics period after break time, when break time ended, all students in my class in sober mood.

Few minutes later, this tall dark slender woman, appeared in a white T-shirt and blue trousers. Class captain roared as usual, ALL STAND GREET! we all echoed, good afternoon ma. She replied, sit down. Now corrections on our assignments, she solved tha mathematical problems on tha board, she beckoned on tha class captain to distribute our books to us, out of 10 sums, I got nil. I looked at Quadri's face, he too was in sober.
After class captain finished distributing our books, Mrs Adepoju shouted, if you score all tha sums raise you hands. Nobody came out, she said again, if you score 9, come out. Nobody, till she mentioned 5, our class captain raised his hand, she said to him, okay come outside, stay over there, he did. She said again if you score 4, come out. Some students came out. 3! 2!! 1!!! come outside, she said again, all other students came out, except I and Quadri.

Mrs Adepoju bursted into laugh, I know you can't make it in life, you these two useless children. How do you want to make it life when you don't know mathematics. Before we knew it, she came towards where we sitted, told us to kneel down, serious lashing fell on us. This day was horrible. Curses going on! She kept saying, you can become something in life if you dont know mathematics. You cant and I am sure.

That first term in school was horrible, second term too was another term with curses upon curses from this same teacher, Mrs Adepoju.

You will never become something in life! You will never be somebody!! Your parents are just wasting their money!!! All these were echoing in my mind. I bursted into a shout, I will make it in life! I will become somebody in life in Jesus name. Never knew when Quadri was at my side, I heard a sounding Amen! I was shocked. Hey Quadri! How are you? I asked, he replied I am fine, I know it is that woman that you are thinking of. We will make it in life. I replied, Amen. Well Quadri, you know I wasn't like this dull when it comes to maths when we were in JSS? He replied yes.
Even me too I wasn't too dull, why now? I think we need to focus cos one thing that I do think about what that witch, referring to Mrs Adepoju use to say is, how can you make it in life, when you don't know mathematics. I said, yes that it true. Now for us to make it in life, we must know maths. Quadri, you are right.

Some weeks later, West Africa Examinations time table is out, All SS3 students going to check and see tha time table in tha school library.

Days later, Examination is set, SS3 students all going into tha school hall to have their general subject, Mathematics. We were all sitted, invigilators on set, make sure you are not caught with any malpractice! One of tha invigilators shouted from tha front.
Examination going on, Mrs Adepoju came in, and started again, with a low voice while moving from row to row, saying I know some of you are blockheads, that don't know maths, how can you make it in life? You can't pass! This woman again! I will be somebody in life, this mathematics, I must pass, having that thoughts in my mind while solving my sums.

With weeks gone, final exams done and ended. I am out of this college. Bye bye to this school, I was shouting on top of my voice, with joy in my heart flowing like a river.

Two years after I finished from secondary school, I was admitted into university. I studied medicine and I graduated.
On my graduation day, my dad, mom and my siblings made efforts to be there on my convocation day. Merriment everywhere. It was a happy day, we took several photographs. Suddenly that old ugly voice echoed in my head.

LiteratureTha Wounded Heart, Episode 2 by BeigJawnson(op):
So as my dad roared congratulations with his deep voice, we were astonished that what could it be, Honey! Congratulations for what? My mom asked, Peju has been admitted into Lagos State University, my dad replied. My sister Peju heard, she left what she was doing in tha kitchen with happiness in her heart. So dad I am finally admitted, she shouted halleluyah, my dad said yes you are admitted, my friend, professor Abayomi just called me to tell me now. Professor Abayomi was tha one helping Peju with her admission into tha university.

A month later, Peju is going to her university, we were all happy but seeing dad, driving Peju to motor park, I was sad. No more play mate. I will be tha one at home. Now tha remaining days left in my school long holidays will be bored and lonely.

Few days later, school resumed, I am now in SS3. I was very happy to see my friends again in school, however one thing spoilt my mood on that very day of resumption in school. Our mathematics teacher Mrs Adepoju was our class teacher, class SS3A, oh my goodness! This woman again, this woman who always rain curses on me if I fail her tests? Now my class teacher? I was having this thought in my mind, I heard a VOICE calling me, TJ! TJ!! Quadri, a friend of mine calling me, he sat next to me, he said have you heard that Mrs Adepoju is now our class teacher? I replied that witch? I was in tha thought of how are we going to cope with her especially when she is now our class teacher. She caused many wounds in my heart those days we were in SS1, now my class teacher.

Few minutes, later Mrs Adepoju entered tha class, she came with a long cane and student register, calling out names. She started her curses again by saying, I know most of you won't pass your exams when tha time reach. And I don't think many of you can become somebody in future. You these idiots, I know all of you too well, right from SS1.

One student at tha back, shouted Haaaaa! Who shouted Haaaaa! She roared with her ugly voice, no one answered, she asked again, who shouted Haaaaa! Nobody answered we all kept mute. She was angered, she shouted, everybody on your knees. We all knelt down, on tha first day of resumption in school, my heart is getting wounded by this same woman again, that thinking down in my mind, as I was thinking, lashes of her long cain, landed on me, I shouted it is not me Ma! She continued flogging me, flogged tha next student, continued her flogging till she finished flogging us. While she was flooging us, she was raining curses on us. This wounded my heart alot, she got flared. And walk away out of tha class with anger and bitterness.

Now she is gone, we were returning her curses back to her and her generations. Students at tha back, kept mumbling words with bitterness in their hearts. Noise all over tha class.

School closed for that day, I got home bittered. My mom asked Tunji what is it? I told her, is it not that same Mrs Adepoju I have been telling you about, she knows nothing but to rain curses. My mom looked at me, she said in a gentle voice. My son no curse shall prevail over you, you are a child of God. And God will surely protect his children from any curse. After saying that, she told me my launch is ready. I never hesitated, I pulled my uniform, went straight to bathroom and have a cool shower, I was refreshed, I went into tha kitchen to pick my food. I ate and got myself some rest.

Next day in school. After tha assembly, every student all went into their various classes, we had our normal daily routine of studies according to time table.

Now time for break, we were about going for break, Mrs Adepoju bursted into tha class, I said in my mind, but this is break time. However we don't have maths today? We spent our break time for mathematics class. She gave us an assignment, oh my goodness! What again? As I was having that thought, she called me, Andrews! Come and solve number one question of these sums I give as assignments. I don't too like mathematics, tha woman teaching us is another problem. How am I going to solve this? That running in my mind, I went to tha board, I didn't know what to write. All of a sudden I felt a big lash on my back, with a loud voice, blockhead! I know you won't know it.

Oh my goodness! I am into trouble, this witch again. She followed me with lashes I ran out of tha class. You this blockhead, I know you can't become somebody in your life, you do fail my tests since when you were in SS1, you just got to SS3 through a narrow escape.
As she was coming towards me, she wanted to fall cos of her high heel shoes, a student bursted into laugh, who is that unfortunate student that laugh there? No response. She turned to me and as for you Andrews, I will see how you will become somebody in life, you don't know anything. You this blockhead.

I rejected her curses as usual. All of a sudden, she shouted, come inside! Stupid boy! and if you like stay outside. She faced tha class and said since you useless people can't show me that person that laughed. All of you kneel down wherever you are.

LiteratureTha Wounded Heart, Episode 1 by BeigJawnson(op): 11:29am On Sep 06, 2020
My name is Tunji Andrews, I came from a family of five, two boys and three girls, I am tha last born. My dad hails from ondo state and my mother from ekiti. We are christains, my dad and mom are devoted Christians. They don't joke with church or things pertaining to church.

While growing up as tha last born in tha family, it was so nice cos I was pampered by my mom, all cares she showered on me. Anytime I offend my brothers and sisters, I do ran to my mom for rescue. Growing up is so much fun to me.

Years later, as I was growing up, our elder brother who is tha first born, gained admission into tha university, we were all happy, but later felt sad, because he will be much missed. Two years later, two of my sisters gained admission into tha university, tha second born got her own into Obafemi Awolowo University, same university were our elder brother got his own admission and tha other sister of mine, tha third born, got hers into Federal University of Technology Akure ( also known as FUTA) in ondo state, same state we lived in.

There were joy in tha family, but they will be greatly missed as well, instantly my dad called my elder brother on phone, he told him, your sister is coming and you are aware of her admission into your school, take care of her well. I heard my brother's voice, lightly on dad's phone, saying daddy don't worry, everything is in God's hand. And my dad replied, always remember tha son of whom you are, son. He replied, okay daddy.

Days later, my sisters were preparing to go to their various universities, after everything, my mom asked them, hope you girls didn't forget anything, they both echoed, no ma, we are good. Then my mom roared, daddy! your daughters are ready, and my dad replied okay, I am coming give me few seconds, I am almost done. My dad came out, are you set? My mom answered, they are set daddy. My dad started to admonish them, saying to them that, always remember God in everything you do, remember tha daughters of whom you are and always be prayful. Come home when you have nothing doing in schools after exams, my sisters echoed, we will sir.

Meanwhile, I and my other sister, tha fourth born, we were both in tha same mood, mood of which we will miss these two people again in tha family. My dad approached tha door, my sisters followed him to his car, one grey toyota corolla, they opened tha door and all tha three entered, my dad started his car engine, waited for some seconds then zoom, off they go. As they were going we were waving at them. And they too waving at us.

After some hours, my dad came back, hooting tha car horn, I quickly ran to tha gate and opened for him, he drove in. My mom in tha kitchen with my sister, as my dad and I entered, we heard my mom's voice, Peju do quick, your daddy is back he will be hungry by now, Peju replied, okay ma, I am almost done. My dad sat on tha couch, picked up tha remote, he roared, una welldone ooo, I done come back, my mom replied, daddy welcome sir, and hope you make sure they boarded before leaving tha motor park? He roared, yes mommy o. My mom replied, honey! Your food will soon be ready. Okay ooo make una do quick, my dad replied while watching news.

Few minutes later food is ready, table is set. We gathered to devour, but before devouring, my dad prayed. After devouring I picked tha whole empty plates on tha table and my sister (peju) followed me to tha kitchen to wash tha plates.

We were done with washing of tha plates, I left my sister (peju) in tha kitchen, she was doing tha cleaning of tha whole kitchen. I sat in tha palour opposite my dad and my mom, dad watching tha news and inside of me, why cant this news finish on time so that I can watch my favorite movies, my mom on tha left hand side sitting next to my dad on tha couch, was busy with her knife cutting a big water melon in a big tray, both her and and my dad love water melon.

As tha news was over, my dad tuned tha TV to see another channels to see if there was any channel talking news or having a political discussion, my dad is a political analyst. As he didn't see any interesting program to watch he dropped tha remote, as he stood up, his phone rang, he picked tha call. Hello my friend, how are you sir? my dad said, and tha voice coming faintly to my ears as I listened intently to tha conversation, I struggled to hear with my ears but I could not, as my dad ended tha conversation, he roared, CONGRATULATIONS.
