The 2006 census was alleged to be marred with irregularities, and even if we are to go by it result, it does not in anyway suggest that the Yoruba population is higher than that of the Igbos. If anything, the result suggests that Yoruba has a little bit of catching up to do.

In that census, majority of SW states population may be majorly Yoruba but considerable percentage is Igbos that can not be overlooked. 10-20% can be safely assumed to be of Igbos population in SW state leaving out Lagos state that Igbos population should be around 40%.

In the same vein, the SE states are not even that bad. Imo and Anambra are far higher than Osun and Ogun. These are states that Igbos make up 95-97% of the population. In the list of the first 5 states, I can even see Rivers that Igbos have close to 35%.

Concerning voters registration, put political apathy into consideration and you will realise that an average Igbo values commerce to politics, sadly (even though this is gradually changing).
