EducationThe Mass Exodus Of Male Teachers From Private Schools by Benjamin077(op): 7:57pm On Aug 26, 2025
Based on the current economic data and conditions in Nigeria, there are several significant challenges facing teachers, particularly men, in private schools. Here are the key economic factors that might lead some male teachers to consider leaving the profession:

Severe Economic Pressures
Low Wages vs. High Inflation: Many private schools pay monthly salaries as low as ₦25,000, which is below Nigeria's former minimum wage of ₦30,000. while the country faces severe inflation. Nigeria's inflation rate remains at 21.88% as of July 2025 Nigeria Inflation Rate though it has decreased from previous highs of over 34%.

Inadequate Compensation: Research shows that teachers in Nigeria earn only 90 percent of GDP per capita Teacher pay in Africa: Evidence from 15 countries - making it one of the lowest teacher-to-GDP ratios in Africa. Even in better-paying private schools, salaries typically range from ₦150,000 to ₦300,000 Salary Structure of Private & Public Secondary School Teachers In Nigeria (2025) which may not keep pace with rising living costs.

Cost-of-Living Crisis
Nigeria is ranked as the 5th hardest hit African country by the cost-of-living crisis Cost of living crisis: Nigeria ranked 5th hardest hit African country with Nigerians still struggling under the cost-of-living crisis despite recent inflation drops Nigerians still groan under cost-of-living crisis amid inflation drop - Businessday NG. This particularly affects:

Housing costs in urban areas
Transportation expenses
Food and basic necessities

Healthcare and education for their own families
Gender-Specific Considerations for Male Teachers
Men often face additional societal pressure as primary breadwinners, making the low teaching salaries particularly challenging when they need to.

Support extended families
Meet traditional expectations of financial provision
Plan for major life events like marriage and home ownership
Provide for children's education and healthcare

Teacher Shortage Crisis
Teacher scarcity is already hitting private schools as the cost-of-living crisis worsens Teacher scarcity hits private schools in Nigeria as cost-of-living crisis worsens indicating that many educators are indeed leaving the profession for better-paying opportunities in other sectors or countries.

While teaching remains a noble profession with intrinsic rewards, the harsh economic realities in Nigeria have created genuine financial hardships that force difficult career decisions. However, it's worth noting that some private schools do offer competitive packages, and the education sector remains crucial for Nigeria's development. Teachers considering career changes might also explore opportunities in educational technology, corporate training, or international schools that offer better compensation packages.

PoliticsHow Do I Explain To The Younger Generation? A Throwback About The Good Old Days by Benjamin077(op): 5:08pm On Aug 01, 2025
How do I explain to the younger generation that in the year 2005, the cost of transportation from Ajangbadi to Okokomaiko was just N10 (ten naira)?

How do I explain that in 2006, the cost of IELTS exam was just N15,000?

How do I explain that in 2006 while still living with my grandma, my pocket money was just N50, and that amount could cover transportation to and back from work and lunch.

How do I explain that in 2013, I bought a brand new Laserjet printer, model Laserjet P2035 for N31,000?

How do I explain this to this generation that in 2014, that I bought a Tiger 2.5KVA generator for N32,000

How do I explain that in November 2014, I bought a 50-Kg bag of imported rice hits N10,000 at the Mile 12 market in Lagos.

Hw do I explain that the exchange rate for dollar to naira in 2015 was $1 = N197

How do I explain that a litre of fuel was sold for N65 in 20111, and was increased to N87 in January 2012.

Whenever I remember how inflation has skyrocketed and crippled the Nigeria economy, rendering the value of money useless. I weep for this country.

How our leaders both past and present had done nothing about the adverse of inflation and devaluation of the naira. it saddens my heart.

What do you remember in the past that was so cheap that you can afford, that is now too expensive that you can no longer afford?

CareerMy Advice For Aspiring Content Creators by Benjamin077(op): 8:00am On Jul 25, 2025
In the past few months or recent years, content creation has been the new trend, the easiest way to earn money online, yet complicated and mostly misunderstood by most people.

Over 90% of young people want to become content creators and earn massively from platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, twitter etc. but its not as easy as they think.

So here is my advice for them

1. Know your niche:
What kind of content do you want to create?
What can you teach? What are your gifts? Simply put create a niche for yourself and start building it.

2. Create original content:
Don't just copy other people's post, rather create your own content.

3. Be intentional about what you do:
Content creation is not an easy task. so be intentional about it and create a posting guide and schedule.

4. Follow other content creators:
You need to follow other content creators and learn from them.

5. Engage in post, comment and chat:
Any content creator you see having engagement in their post is a massive engager too.

They really worked for it, they didn't just receive it.👌🏽
Many people really want engagement in their post but the problem is that most of them find it difficult to engage with others .
Always learn to engage massively with other creators for you to be receiving massive engagement too.
You can't receive if you don't give , that's how it is, there is no two ways about it✌🏽✌🏽

6. Content creation takes time before it yields result:
Be patient and let your page grow, it takes time. Content creation is not an overnight success.

Nairaland GeneralWhere Is The Discipline, Passion & Hunger For Study? by Benjamin077(op): 5:05pm On May 08, 2025
Back in the days, as a teenager who is seeking admission into the university, I read my books; I studied very hard, I attended tutorial classes and was punctual too.

I knew my future depended on the admission into the university and I don't need anyone to remind me or force me to study my books so I studied very hard. Pleaded with my parents to buy past questions for me and studied them diligently.

As a teenager, all I think about was how to get admission into the University and I knew that my future depended on that admission.
But today, what we see is the opposite, you have to force teenagers to read their book, you have to beg them as if you are the one seeking admission into the university and not them.

Everywhere they go, they carry their phones with them and keep pressing their phones even in tutorial classes.
So, you are forced to ask, "Does this child really want this admission? does he/she really want to enter the university?
"
Now how do they want to achieve that? how do they expect to gain admission into the university without studying?

Thank God for JAMB, let JAMB continue to teach them a lesson that success isn't achieved on a platter, it comes with real hard work and the ability to sit down and study.

With the mass failure in this year 2025 UTME examinations, I hope many teenagers will come back to their senses and do away with their phones and start studying for examinations.

If you must gain admission into any tertiary institutions, then study your books and take your academics serious. Enough is enough of this nonchalant and lackadaisical attitude towards studying and reading for examination.
Thanks for reading

CareerWhy Are Nigerians These Gullible - Motivation by Benjamin077(op): 6:32pm On Aug 13, 2018
In a country like Nigeria where more than 80million people are living below the poverty line, yet there are large congregation of churches and preachers.

A country where millions can't afford three square meals, and thousands live in IDP camps, yet, you have churches and mosques everywhere.

5 out of 10 of the Richest Pastors in the world are from Nigeria and I ask "HOW COME THEY HAVE SO MUCH MONEY from the poor masses?

In a country where as a fresh graduate, you search endlessly for jobs and try to start a business, all to no avail, you end up becoming a pastor and ironically, your church grows rapidly within a short time.

Please don't see me as a critic, am only writing and speaking my heart,

Must we all be spiritual to live successfully?

My friend recently asked a question on his blog? Which is

Between being SPIRITUAL and INTELLIGENCE, which one takes you closer to your goal and guarantee success?

I have seen lots of people that are Spiritual but not intelligent and I have also met lot of highly intelligent people but not spiritual?

So I really want to know, does been spiritual guarantee your success than being intelligent?

Why do most people seek to be spiritual? To get closer to God and start a church rather working on their intelligence and creativity?

Well, in a gullible population like Africa especially Nigeria, a man will just wake up and start a church all because he know that some people won't work on their intelligence and creative ability which is hidden inside of them.

My dear reader, you are highly intelligent and a creative genuis, why not wake up your dormant creative ability rather that having someone manipulate you all in the name of been spiritual and seeking for God's blessing. When God has blessed you already.

YES, THE POTENTIAL FOR GREATNESS IS IN YOU!!!

DON'T ABADON IT ALL IN QUEST OF SEEKING DIVINE ENCOUNTER!!!

Nairaland GeneralCommon Mistake People Make When Writing Thier Newyear Resolutions by Benjamin077(op): 1:27pm On Jan 08, 2013
Today, we shall be taking a close look at the common mistake people make when writing thier newyear resolutions and that is they fail to put time limit and deadlines to each goals and objectives.

If you had written your newyear resolution, then be more specific as to when you are to achieve each goal.

An example, instead of writing "I want to be good at playing the keyboard" or "I want to start learning GSM engineering" or "This year l would rent a new apartment"
Rather what you should write is, this, "By June, l should have been good at playing the keyboard" or "By April 31st, l should have completed my G.S.M engineering course" or "By September 1st, l should be in my new apartment having made all payments.

In writing your newyear resolutions this way, you would be more focused in achieving it and you wont rest esp when d date is drawing close.

So today, whatever goals you are setting, whatever you want to achieve, write d date by d side or underneath.
I pray that you achieve all your dreams and goals this year and reamin on top. Amen.
