Politics › Peter Obi Proposes Five-year Presidential Tenure For Each Geopolitical Zone by Benwallt(op): 6:50pm On Nov 06, 2023 |
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has presented a proposal for a five-year presidential tenure for each of Nigeria's six geopolitical zones as reported by Channels Television.
Obi's proposal comes in response to a recent suggestion by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to establish a six-year single term for the presidency.
Obi disagrees with Abubakar's proposal for a six-year single term, arguing instead for a five-year tenure with a 30-year rotation system among the geopolitical zones. He believes that such a system would lead to a more equitable and representative government.
In addition to proposing a five-year presidential tenure, Obi also advocates for a quasi-system that would allow elected leaders to participate in the legislature. He also believes that leaders should be accountable to the public through regular question-and-answer sessions.
Obi's proposals are aimed at addressing the issue of political representation and accountability in Nigeria. He believes that his proposed system would lead to a more equitable and representative government that is more responsive to the needs of the Nigerian people. |

DeLaRue: Coming from Lagos, vehicular traffic drops dramatically after Ibadan. Between Ibadan and Osun, the highway is not busy at all.
Between Osun and Ondo State, there are so few cars on the highway, that you wonder if people don't travel between these states.
Even if you travel from Lagos via Lagos - Benin expressway, that expressway, which is supposed to be one of the busiest roads in Nigeria is not busy at all despite linking to Benin, the South South, and South East.
And once you cross into Ondo state from Ore, you can count the number of vehicles between Ore and Ondo city. Ondo city to Akure is also not busy at all.
So how in the world did politicians determine that any city/town after Ibadan in the SW needs rail. To carry what exactly
Did the people tell you rail is their priority
Deceitful, misplaced, illogical, ill informed and fraudulent priorities.
It is no surprise the country is littered with uneconomical white elephant projects. The way you are foaming from all holes on this matter is epic |
