This post will be updated to accommodate today's updates.... TypingTopic where to get concepts and design ideas for any logo(behance, creativemarket, graphicsriver etc) Ok I had to chip this in as a matter of necessity because I knw many of us are new entries in the design world. Many top graphics designers I have met have developed their creative thinking to a point where their works looks like magic to novices. But they did not just develop these skills or mental alertness,it has been years of experience with different projects. Hence it is necessary for you to know how to fire up your creative minds so you don't end up doing wacky jobs. One way that works for me is to read designs from different designers and reprpduce designs every day. I must say that the hardest part of your job, will be how to come up with ideas, unique ones at that. But with continuous research and practice, you can begin to awaken your creative capabilities. That is why I have decided to give you this tip which will assist you in coming up with ideas for your project. As time goes on when these ideas stick to your medulla, you can begin to come up with yours too. There is crime in plagiarizing designs..but there isn't one in combining visual elements from two or three designs to make up your own. Where to get ideas from When you have a logo / banner / stationery(Bizness card and letterhead) Make a search on the following sites Shutterstock.com creativemarket.com graphicsriver 99designs behance Most of these sites have premade templates for sale, most of which are unique stuffs....So instead of buying, since you hve a tool that can reproduce these designs why not just save samples from there and reproduce them. Sometimes when you are out looking for logo ideas for a company, just type the industry, or Alphabet and you see thousands of ideas come up. You can combine one or two elements and you have your own design which you can reproduce with the software Apart from the above-mentioned sites...google houses links to lots of resources offered by graphics designers particularly for stationary designs PREPARE YOURSELF TO BE CREATIVE - THESE WERE NOT MADE WITH PHOTOSHOP - WAIT FOR IT!!! WE WILL GET THEREAll typos and blunders are deeply regretted More update coming soon....I've got to finish up something

HOPEFULLY, videos will start rolling in from tomorrow after today's tutorial. Please, can someone suggest a good video recording software for the Video tutorials. Thanks we meet here by 4pm |
fratermathy:Well said bro well said.. just that people prefer to be blinded by the realities of the present than the future...I don't see how MMM changes the world (as they say) when it eventually will shut down as every ponzi scheme. People are becoming less productive...No one wants to work again this is not just the right course. May God help us. |

This one is a construction company...So a building icon was used....Not so obvious but detailed... You can see the shapes that makes it up So shapes Shapes Shapes ...How to form shapes and manipulated fonts is what you need to master in logo design. The colors and gradients are easy hurdles to cross once you master the act of creating any form of shapes using the pencil.skew and slice tools
|
The miileage logo M was converted to shape then sliced into two The curves were inserted from the middle using the pencil tool. Gotham Bold and Light font. Notice the combination of bold and light
|
bestspoke:THE SHAPES THATMAKE UP THE YAK LOGO The gear was formed using the pencil tool, then the inner curve. The Y was converted to shape and the lower part was sliced off before inserting it t the gear Font used -- Gotham Bold

Time to spice up the tutorial with some practical images (Make e no too boring with texts) 3---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> What makes up a logo,(shapes, topography, trends etc) What really makes a logo are the shapes and the font used. These two things can make or mar your design. especially fonts.(I am a font freak, I search for top quality fonts everytime, If its worth it I buy from behance. I want to show you How logos are built with 4 practical examples from my portfolio.Raw files are gone with my old pc when I was burgled. So I just re-designed 4 of them within now 2hours I want to practically dismantle the elements of the logo so you can have a clearer understanding of the magic behind them. Shapes ,Shapes and curves are what makes an iconic logo Once you know how to handle the pencil tool , you can practically form anything you sketched. or reproduce a custom logo you found on creativemarket/graphicsriver even shutterstock. Just save them and retrace. out. Now Look at the full preview of the 4 logos I just designed.

For the sake of coordination. This post will be modified to contain batches of today's lesson.(simply refresh every 15 to 30mins) Thanks all for your interest. This year, hustle must pay! You can read tutorials from your mobile , but remember to put things into practice on your pc. (1)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> Types of logos for branding We all know what a logo is, it is simply the visual identity of any company, business or startup. Your logo is what represents a company on different platforms, online,on billboards,on paper etc. Mere seeing a logo, everybody can recognise the company from afar. Logos can be of different types Symbols or icons/mascotte-- icons are used to represent the company (windows, apple, mtn etc) Topography/wordmarks -logos may exist as full topography texts too with custom fonts(Google,Yahoo, pinterest logos) Combination Marks - combining the 2 above/below (UBA has letter and icon by the side,Tony Elumelu Foundation(word and logo) Letter / Initial / Emblems - coining out a logo using the letters that make up a company name (Tony Elemelu(TE) , Electonic Arts(EA) Each logo type has its peculiar application depending on the industry and company name. Fashion, organizations, mobile apps, websites, brands, churches etc all have their peculiarity. Read more online and study as many logos as possible ,see the categories and industry they fall into. As a designer, it si your job to use discretion to judge which category to use for the design (2) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> Their applications and colors. Letter / Initial / Emblems Case study http://footprint2africa.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/NBC.jpg The above link(open in new tab) contains Nigerian Broadcasting commisions logo It has a rather lengthy name ,hence the designer decided to use an emblem/innitial in the design to form NBC ,Notice the colors combination and tagline placement(some companies like putting their motto underneath their logos,it's not always applicable) So in essence monograms, abbreviations are better off and easy to identify when the company name is long e.g NASA versus the National Aeronautics and Space Administration? UBA ,NLC etc you may decide to twist the fonts(you will learn how to do that later) so it does'nt stay ordinary even though you dey use innitial(plain english don tire me ) .check NASA LOGO, check NBC logo ,check VISA logo Symbols or icons/mascotte (Apple icon comes to mind) The biggest thing to consider when deciding to go with a pictorial mark is what image to choose. This is something that will stick with your company its entire existence. You need to think about the broader implications of the image you choose so as to reflect a deeper meaning...you need to be creative about this one.. check twitter logo....Perhaps there is a bird that sings by tweeting, that mught have being the designers thought check KFC ...the icon of the owner check firstbank logo ... I don't know why they've used elephant icon sha Apple - apple icon is obvious dangote , guiness all have icons with deeper meaning....If you are creative enough, you can form one for your next client but while we have complex icons...we can have simple and creative icons with great meaning s attached...each...UBA ,QUICKTELLER It depends on creativity. Please note the current trend is driving towards simplicity and classiness, so don't stress to much looking for complex icons. I will leave you to do more research(This is just a guide) Keep this link in mind https://99designs.com/blog/tips/types-of-logos/ 3---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> What makes up a logo,(shapes, topography, trends etc) Typing..... |
