President Bola Tinubu has arrived in the Republic of Türkiye for a state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between both countries.
The President landed at the Ankara Esenboğan Airport at 9:05 p.m. local time on Monday, the State House media office said in a statement.
He was received by a Turkish government delegation led by the Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had in a statement on Sunday said the visit would focus on exploring further areas of cooperation in security, education, social development, innovation, and aviation.
According to Onanuga, both countries will engage in strategic political and diplomatic discussions on shared values in finance, communication, trade, and investment during the visit.
The agenda will include meetings between high-ranking officials of both nations and the signing of memoranda of understanding in scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media and communications, military cooperation, and protocol, among others.A business forum will also bring together investors from both countries to explore areas of mutual interest.The Presidency said Tinubu’s visit marks a reciprocal gesture following Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s official visit to Nigeria from October 19 to 20, 2021.
Members of the President’s entourage participating in the bilateral discussions include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi; Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa; and Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Jimi Benson.
Others are the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mohammed Mohammed.
