The prophet then gave a final warning: "Your Excellency, I'll advise you to keep quiet and work hard to gain the people's trust if you want to win the next election – or even help President Tinubu win votes. Fighting Peter Obi is a waste of time."

The report also noted that efforts are underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The original preliminary reports say engines might have been starved of fuel shortly after take off. No pilot was mentioned as the cause. Besides, if the captain was suicidal enough to turned off the fuel switch, First Officer has an independent switch(es) he/she can turn on to supply the fuel and keep the flight flying. US President Donald Trump has repeated his call on Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree on a ceasefire with Ukraine within 50 days, warning of tariffs and sanctions otherwise.

Trump on Monday announced plans to send more weapons to Ukraine through NATO member countries, and threatened severe tariffs if Moscow does not make a deal with Kyiv within his time limit.

The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday morning, departed London, the United Kingdom, for Daura, Katsina State, ahead of a state burial.

PUNCH Online reports that the body of the late president was conveyed on a Nigerian Air Force craft.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is, leading a high-level Federal Government delegation to finalise documentation and logistical arrangements for the repatriation of the ex-president’s remains.

On Monday, the federal government said that President Bola Tinubu will receive the former President’s remains in Katsina ahead of his final interment in Daura, Katsina State.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja.

According to Idris, the body of the former president, who died on Sunday in a London hospital, is expected to arrive in Nigeria by noon on Tuesday

"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will personally receive the remains of the former President in Katsina.

"Upon arrival in Katsina, a brief military ceremony will be held at the airport before the body is moved to Daura.


The Jana’iza (funeral prayer) will take place thereafter, followed by interment at the late President’s residence,” Idris said

The minister said as part of national mourning, Tinubu has directed that condolence registers be opened across all Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies, as well as at Nigerian embassies and missions abroad.

He said another register is to be opened at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Idris also noted that world leaders have continued to send in condolence messages.

“The condolences coming in from Heads of State and Governments across the globe are a testament to the global stature and legacy of President Muhammadu Buhari,” he said

To ensure what he described as a “dignified and well-coordinated programme,” Idris said the President has constituted an Inter-Ministerial Committee chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.

The committee will work in collaboration with the Katsina State Government and the Buhari family.

The minister further announced that 25 members of the Federal Executive Council have been directed to proceed to Katsina for the burial rites and to remain in Daura for the Third-Day prayers scheduled for Wednesday.

The remains of the ex-leader, who died aged 82 in London on Sunday following a prolonged illness, will reach Nigeria on Tuesday, with his burial taking place later the same day, according to Dikko Umaru Radda.

Preparations for the burial were under way in Daura on Monday, while the country’s Vice President Kashim Shettima was in London organising the repatriation of Buhari’s body.

Buhari, who first ruled the country as a military leader between 1984 and 1985, served consecutive presidential terms between 2015 and 2023. He was the first opposition politician to be voted into power since the country’s return to civilian rule.

The self-described “converted democrat” is being remembered by many as a central figure in his country’s democratic evolution. However, some critics have also noted his failure to improve Nigeria’s economy or its security during his presidency.

Paying tribute to his predecessor on Sunday, President Bola Tinubu called him “a patriot, a soldier, a statesman”.

“He stood firm through the most turbulent times, leading with quiet strength, profound integrity, and an unshakable belief in Nigeria’s potential,” Tinubu wrote in a post on X.

"He championed discipline in public service, confronted corruption head-on and placed the country above personal interest at every turn.”

Tinubu added that all national flags would fly at half-mast for seven days from Sunday, and said Buhari would be accorded full-state honours.

Radda also paid his respects to the former president, describing him as “the embodiment of the common man’s aspirations”.

Ibrahim Babangida, a former military ruler who ousted Buhari in a coup in 1985, also released a statement after his death was announced.

“We may not have agreed on everything — as brothers often don’t — but I never once doubted his sincerity or his patriotism,” Babangida said.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, Alexis Akwagyiram, managing editor at Semafor and a longtime observer of Nigerian politics, noted that Buhari was popular for his “personal brand of integrity and honesty”.

However, Akwagyiram also highlighted Buhari’s shortcomings on the economy and security, saying that insurgencies from groups such as Boko Haram had “proliferated under his tenure”.

A man identified as Allen Wogu, who claims to be the classmate of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has debunked the minister’s assertion that he made so much money early in life and was driving a Mercedes Benz car as a student at the University of Port Harcourt.

Wike who made the claims while speaking on a Channels Television program last week, had said allegations of corruptly enriching himself levelled against him by former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi were false as he was a self made man who started making money at a very young age.

Dismissing the allegations of corruption, Wike said he personally purchased his Rolls-Royce and did not receive it as a bribe or political favour, stressing that no contractor or associate gave him the vehicle.

I have a Rolls-Royce. So what? Nobody gave it to me. I bought it. People ask, ‘With what money?’ Let me tell you — I came from a comfortable background,” the FCT Minister had said.

He went on to state that his father was a general manager of several companies and that he enjoyed a decent lifestyle even as a student.

As a student, I was driving a Mercedes-Benz. So don’t let anyone tell you I suddenly became wealthy. I didn’t come from poverty,” he added.

But while puncturing Wike’s claims in a Facebook post on Thursday, Wogu said Wike lied about coming from a privileged background as he was a struggling student who could not even afford a bicycle not to talk of driving a Mercedes-Benz while studying political science and education in the late 1980s.

“The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. I wonder how someone who has classmates who, by God’s grace, are alive would come on national television and claim he was driving a Mercedes Benz car between 1986 and 1990 in the University of Port Harcourt, where he studied political science/education,” Wogu wrote in the post.
