Gucciqueen38 dear, sorry for the delay... Cadec007, heryoub 22, oya lezgo!

Twenty Two

Ali saw it coming and was prepared. So when his father, someone that had been in support of his marriage with Hadiza suddenly changed course and vehemently opposed it, it didn’t come as a surprise. It was the result of whatever talk he had had with that dunce. He was prepared for something like this. He stood his ground. Nothing or nobody on earth would separate him from his girl. He had invested too much to lose.

“Daddy, you will only separate us by killing me” he said with all the courage he could muster.

He had never faced his father this way before. Even as a rebel, he never raised his voice to him but this had to be done.

“And if you even think of harming her in any way…” he continued, shaking his head and narrowing his eyes.

He surely meant what he was saying

“… I know the most fatal way to hurt you.” He fired as he walked away.

Barnabas hated threats. No one threatened him and lived to plan it out but this was his son. There was more than one way to deal with a thwart but he simply couldn’t come up with one. He wondered what was so special about the girl.

“So it’s that slut over me? You are a bastard!” he asked Ali who was almost out of hearing distance. He heard him call Hadiza a slut and turned back to give the man a piece of his mind but he was not done.

“You dare walk out on me? Just make sure you never return. Consider yourself fatherless.” He continued scolding someone who was not convinced he had done something wrong. Instead, he expected an apology. Chief Barnabas didn’t know why he went on disturbing his lungs despite the boy’s apparent lack of acknowledgement for any wrongdoing, but it somehow made him feel good. The boy was spoilt. He wouldn’t survive on his own. If he shut him out a little, he would learn. He thought.

However, if he had said those things because he was boiling with anger, it could be safe to think Ali received them with an inferno of anger. He was furious that he called his fiancé a slut and more mad that he disowned him.

He paused at the door and turned to reply

“Thank you father. You just made my life a lot easier. Please never call me.” He turned again and stormed away.

Without delay, he took his stuffs and left town with Hadiza. He had to avoid his father all together. The sight of him alone, triggered waves of anger in him. Most importantly, he had to avoid any drama this new adventure of Jaye might create.

He saw questions all over Hadiza’s face, where are we going? Why are we going? And a lot more questions. She didn’t talk but Ali assumed it all up and answered the questions he though her worried face asking.

“We are going to Ilorin” He said to her but he actually meant to say ‘I need you to trust me right now.’

Hadiza really had no appetite for words. If she was, she would probably say ‘I heard you’ and may be some few more words but instead of chit chat, she just nodded. She was having a serious talk with herself, in her head. She was asking questions… many questions that she needed answers to. Was she a Cinderella? Why was her life the way it was? Why the person she loved didn’t love her back? Why the person that loved her was not getting support? Who was the mystery visitor? Should she free herself from all of this and start afresh? How would poor Ali take it?

She had not been able to answer those questions when Ali’s phone rang. His words to whoever the caller was directly spoke to Hadiza. His words answered the questions in her head with a firm, brave and reassuring tone.

“It’s ok. Just trust me, I’ll get everything under control and I promise you, you will not… never lose your man, neither will I lose my woman… never.”

“Thanks” Hadiza said, wondering how he knew what was going through her mind.

“He is such a wonderful guy.” She told herself.

Of course, Ali really didn’t know what was going through her mind less he could know what to say to relieve her. It was just a coincidence… a nice one.

It was Rihanat that called to report Jaye’s renewed efforts to reach Hadiza. He had again been to Barnabas & Son Limited where he learnt that she had been sacked. He later found out where she and Ali resided but it was too late. They had moved. Though, he couldn’t fathom where they could possibly go, he didn’t give up. He started keeping notes and drawing plans. It was one of these notes that Rihanat discovered and decided it was time to dig out her jettisoned old SIM and contact Ali. He had to know that Jaye’s interest in their whereabouts was a serious one so he had to buckle up and tighten his game.

The response she got from Ali didn’t go to only her, Hadiza used it too.

The warning came in handy. He had to make sure no one could trace them. To cover all tracks and make sure their trail went blank, Ali dropped the car they travelled in at a branch of his father’s company and took public transport. In Ilorin, they lodged with fake names.

Hadiza could only wonder why love had such a cruel twist to it. She abandoned her family because of someone who didn’t care a bit about her and now someone had to leave his home and all the comfort in it, to this modest guest house and its lowly standards just because of love. She pitied Ali. He was in love with someone whose heart would never be warm again.

She put in a more determined effort to know why exactly they had to be on the run anyways. Ali’s father used to treat her well before that visitor came. She had to know who the mystery guy was. He had brought this dispute between father and son to life. If that person had not come looking for her, things would not have happened this way.

She decided not to give Ali more problems. She would find out on her own. She started her findings from the receptionist who attended to him and luck was on her side or perhaps, one should thank the Jaye’s foresight.

He had dropped his name and phone number with the reception attendant when he went back and she told him she had been sacked. Someday perhaps, it could be needed to contact him. Having obtained the number and name, she was even angrier with Jaye. Why would he seek to destroy her by all means? He needed a strong warning but she would have to call him, when Ali was not around. Now is not the time to put more pressure on his mind, she concluded.

For optimal performance, a lot of zinc (for repair of DNA, Protection against free radicals, and regulation of hormones) is used by the prostate than any other body organ. Since it has been established that coconut flesh, milk, and water all have a huge deposit of zinc, the prostate needs a lot of it. Prostate cancer has been shown to be preventable with zinc intake.

Be that as it may, lets go to the story of the day. Akinwale14, how far?

Twenty One

Amidst all the venom in Jaye was a little spring of antidote juice. This juice swept all over him and gave him a renewed energy. He wore his old face, last seen over a year in Akwanga.

He knew it. He knew Hadiza would not be that cruel. He knew she was manipulated somehow. It was even good now that she had not married that fool.

He would act before she got into that perpetual trap. Act, and act fast. He had to tell her. But he knew he had to be smart about the whole process, Rihanat must not find out. He knew it was unfair to her but it was unfair to Hadiza as well.

He would give Rihanat the respect she deserved but now, the proposal would be put on hold till he sorted out Hadiza’s.

First he had to gather as much information as he could gather about Ali. It didn’t take him as much time as it did take him energy to find Barnabas & Sons Ltd where Hadiza worked.

He found the receptionist busy laughing when he got there. He thought someone he didn’t see must have said something funny.

“Good afternoon. I need to see someone. She works here. Her name is Hadiza… Hadiza Salisu.” He said to the lady and noticed the itch on the lady’s face as he mentioned Hadiza but it didn’t matter to him.

“Is she around?” he asked.

“Do you have an appointment?” she asked.

“No, but this is a rather pressing issue.” He replied, already losing his patience but what can a helpless man do? He chose to keep his cool.

She picked her phone and called Hadiza’s office.

“Hello ma, one Mr. Jaye is here asking for you… can he proceed to your office? …ok” “Please sit. She will soon be here.” She said pointing to the seats behind Jaye.

While he sat waiting for Hadiza, Chief Barnabas walked pass and noticed him.

“Good afternoon. What can we do for you?” he asked.

“I’m here to see Salisu Hadiza sir” he replied with a sparkle in his eyes.

The sparkle did not go unnoticed by the Chief. He saw the kind of fire he had always seen in Ali’s eyes but never in the girl’s eyes.

“You two are lovers, aren’t you?” the chief asked finally making sense of things.

Jaye heard the question but didn’t know when he responded in the affirmative. This could be Ali’s father. Had he not made a terrible mistake? He only could hope not.

The Chief got the solution to his puzzle.

“This is the idiot that that the idiot is in love with. So she prefers ‘this thing’ to my son.” he thought before proceeding.

“So what do you plan to do with her? Are you here to take her away?” chief asked him with keen interest.

Before he could answer the question, Ali came in and saw Jaye, his defeated or almost defeated rival talking with his daddy. The way he saw them deep in the conversation, he picked that something was amiss and feared that a great deal was going to get messed up if not already messed up unless he did something. He had to savage the situation.

He went straight to get Hadiza out of the building. Good enough for him, she was almost getting set to go see who was asking for her. She was closing the door when Ali took her hand and dragged her out the building through the rear exit.

The Chief who wanted to see the drama to the end ran out of patience waiting for Hadiza and ordered someone to go and get her but the messenger returned without her. Hadiza was not around and her office was locked.

Chief Barnabas concluded he had seen enough. He need not be told more to know what was going on here. She was only playing his son. Now, the act was all up. His mind was made. That cheap girl would never marry his son.

Adams sat and thought about his actions and their consequences. All that seemed perfect now appeared really skewed. He had become so distant and unfair to his friends. He was not really sure if he was really friends to his friends anymore.

With the things he had done, it became tough for him to even face himself. He helped Jaye lose the one he loved, Rihanat end up with someone who still loved another, he hid things from David as well.

Despite having people around him, he felt really alone in the world.

Things would have been better if he unloaded his heavy heart, no matter the consequence. He called David and told him everything he didn’t know but didn’t get what he wanted. David snapped and rejected him out rightly.

“What a serpent you are! Never, you talk to me again.” He shouted and ordered him out of his apartment.

It was at that moment that Adam realized he was truly alone. Rihanat got really mad at him. She could kill him if she had a gun. What Jaye had for him had been better left not narrated. He was so full of ultra venom. David was on a whole different level. He simply didn’t know him. He was never his friend.

However, David unsure if Hadiza would be able to handle the shock that’s if she believed any story, decided to play the entire truth down with Jaye so that Rainat could have soft landing.

“would Ali or what do they call him even let Hadiza be compromised?” he wondered and kept Rihanat out of the crime picture. It would not cool to see him lose on two fronts. If anything, Rihanat actually loved him. She only acted to get what she wanted and loved.

TWENTY

To effectively remove any stubborn attachment that might be lingering on Jaye’s mind, Adams visited Jaye with the wedding news.

“That Hadiza bitch is getting married already!” Adams announced as though it was own wedding.

He almost immediately regretted how he had gone about breaking the news. He felt stupid once again.“What if he asked me the source of the news?” he asked himself.

“The groom should just die on or before the day” Jaye said with genuine bitterness.

Why it was the groom he wished death for was not clear even to himself. Did he hate only the groom or he wanted the groom to die to break the bride’s heart? It did not matter anyways. He was just so bitter that Adams fear of how he got information became unnecessary.

“That’s harsh Jaye, why wish him death. After all you’ve moved on” Adams quizzed.

“No, it’s not. If the Idiot didn’t exist in the first place, I wouldn’t have lost Hadiza like that.” He said looking visibly upset.

“No you didn’t lose her, she left you. If she loved you, she would ignore everyone else no matter what. You waited for her because you loved her; she could have done the same.”

Jaye thought Adams kind of made sense. Yet, Jaye still wanted the groom dead.

“Even at that, he should die so that Hadiza will feel the pain.” He bitterly said.

“You need to grow up. What more do you want from God. I’ll die for a half of Rihanat.” Adams said as he sat and wrapped his arm around his embittered friend’s shoulder.

Jaye couldn’t say anything. He just stared into the space in front of him with teary eyes. Tears formed in his eyes it was too weak to run down his cheek. Though it couldn’t run, it would have fallen anyways if not for Adams who collected them with his white handkerchief.

“I will propose to Rihanat” Jaye said, when he finally found his voice.

“Good for you.” Adams said.

He didn’t know whether to be happy or not, he could be happy for Rihanat but this was obviously not what Jaye wanted. He suddenly felt a surge of guilt wash all over him.
