The fraud i see here is that banks set a limit for interbank withdrawals @ 20k ....so that they can charge u 65naira each time when u want to withdraw large amounts u will b forced to make multiple withdrawals...den they start charging u each time after ur third withdrawal......but the process is suppose to restart again .....that is 65naira on every 3rd interbank withdrawal.... Meaning 130 naira on every 6 withdrawal..but they charge u continuously after d 3rd interbank withdrawal......

why not then withdraw at your bank where it is free.
Business / Re: Reps To Investigate ATM Charges By Banks- Punch by bigass(f): 4:20pm On Oct 06, 2016
Let me tell you guys.If they cancel the N65 then forget about interbank withdrawals. It just mean you will only be able to withdraw from your banks ATM only

Which duty doesn't reflect, is it the one paid at seme/idiroko borders to the Nigerian Customs Service OR which one?

Aside from the port charges. Is there any difference in valuation/custom duties paid on any car between seme(land) and Tincan(sea) borders?. I expect that car values and subsequent duties are same irrespective of the border.

Both of them can split the cost. I was at one highbrow street the other day, looking for a house. So, the agent took me there. Fine houses, serene environment. I was excited until i learnt that most of the houses were unoccupied because that street has no light.

The transformer blew since August last year and most tenants felt NEPA demands were too much. As soon as they could, they moved away to another street/environment.

Now, the loss is on the landlords. Most tenants won't rent there.

Thought nepa has been privatised. So people still contribute to repair transformers? Just like saying people should contribute to repair telcoms masts. Fake privatisation.

I concur with your last point, differing in that alternatives were provided for those u mentioned. Okada riders were removed from risky roads, Oshodi traders were moved to a different location, or those wu can moved to beta places. In the case of hawkers I doubt any of them has the financial capacity to start anew.

I am not against hawking. It is a symptom of poverty. However public safety is important too. They should be banned on the highways, like Third-mainland bridge, Ikorodu road Lagos Abeokuta road etc

It can only be possible if our leaders are sincere, I've worked in one of our Generation stations and I'm currently working @ a transmission station. Since Buhari became president , we've had about 5 system collaps on the National Grid, electrical system operators will understand this beta . All our Generating stations are working below installed capacity and the worst of all safety is not there priority. If we must achieve steady power supply here we've got to switch over to HVDC system and also utilize the power of the Sun.

Hmm you are working at height, No harness, no hard hat, No gloves nothing. Kai Nigeria!!!!!!!!

How much do you think 1000mw of gas fire Power plant is? Go and make your research and compare them with how is spent on travels by the presidency. The money is not the problem.

But it has been privatized na? Abi na govt dey give money to glo mtn or etisalat? No. so if govt doesnt give money to telecoms they cant give money to power coys

that you are comfortable doesn't mean others are. Government is for all and must accommodate all. Many will be displaced of their only means of livelihood, whr do dey start from? Is govt ready to arrest over 10,000 people doing street hawking? Which prison will accommodate dem? This policy will fail before 2months.

Who told you i am living comfortably? What they are doing is illegal according to Lagos laws!! What were they doing before they became hawkers?
Sometimes necessity is the mother of invention. same thing was said when Oshodi was cleared, when okada was banned in some areas.

In enforcing this law the state government should also make provisions for an alternative for these hawkers who rely on this business solely for their daily bread!

Politics / Lagos To Jail Street Hawkers From July 1- Ambode by bigass(f): 3:38pm On Jul 01, 2016
The Lagos State Government on Friday said that from July 1, 2016, it would commence a total enforcement against street trading and street hawkerbanning their activities across the metropolis would take its full course.

Speaking at a live interview session on Television Continental, the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode said that the renewed enforcement is in line with Section One of the Lagos State Street Trading and Illegal Market Prohibition Law 2003 which restricts street trading and hawking in the metropolis.

The Governor, while sympathising with the family of a street hawker who was knocked down by an articulated truck while trying to evade arrest from officials of Kick Against Indiscipline along Maryland Bus stop on Wednesday, regretted that the situation led to the destruction of public assets.

“It is not in our DNA to allow someone to just die by road accident or the way it happened in respect of the incident. But beyond the fact that we lost one person while crossing the road as a result of evading arrest by KAI officials, I need to tell Lagosians that over 49 buses were actually destroyed and it is costing us like almost N139m to put those buses back on the road,” he said.

Consequently, Governor Ambode said the State Executive Council has resolved to enforce the Law, which according to him makes both the hawker and the buyer liable of the offence.

“The issue is we need to enforce our laws because we already have a law in respect of that and then there is a clause in it which says the buyer and the seller are both liable and that we are going to fine them either N90, 000 or a six month jail term.

“What we are doing on traffic is that we are introducing new strategies to eliminate traffic, but Lagos being a cosmopolitan city, you cannot totally eliminate it but now this is the case, in the next few days, you will see on the street of Lagos signs that will be warning you that buyers and hawkers should be aware that there are consequences,” Governor Ambode said.

Politics / Lagos To Replace Danfos With AC Buses by bigass(f): 1:40am On May 23, 2016
The Lagos State Government has announced measures to raise the dignity of commuters and commercial vehicle drivers operating in the state.

It said efforts were being made towards rebranding the public transport system which would incorporate the major modes of transportation.

The state Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Dayo Mobereola, who made the announcement during the 2016 annual ministerial press briefing in Alausa, Ikeja, said the initiative would involve replacing the mini-buses, popularly called Danfo, with high-capacity buses.

He also said the state government would introduce commuter protection number plates and body tags on buses to show their routes and enforce colour uniformity on all public transport systems in the state.

The commissioner said the government had held consultation with road transport operators on the need to rebrand and professionalise the transport sub-sector.

“Lagos State motor parks would be restructured in such a way that alcohol and illicit substances would not be there.

“We are going to teach transport operators in the state behavioural etiquette and how to talk to commuters,” he added.

According to him, the present administration is determined to have public transport system that supports its megacity status where tendencies for violence are curbed, while drivers and conductors are retrained and registered.

Mobereola said arrangements were almost concluded to phase out the 14-seater commuter buses being used by commercial drivers and replace them with 30-seater buses with air conditioners.

He also hinted about plans to enforce the use of approved uniforms for commercial drivers and conductors, describing such as “a critical rebranding strategy that signposts confidence, trust, loyalty and stability.”

He said the “new vista of professionalism and identity anchored on unique number/dress code” would be implemented by the next quarter.

He said the taxi scheme, rail and water transport systems, would be covered in the transformation arrangements.

The commissioner said the rebranding would affect the state vehicle inspection service.

For instance, apart from increasing the staff strength by 200, the operation of its patrol officers had been extended to Saturday and Sunday.

“We intend a complete the reorientation of the VIS and strengthen its efficiency and effectiveness, including the extension of the area offices to 30,” Mobereola said, adding that the construction of the VIS headquarters at Ojodu would provide a befitting and conducive environment for its operation.

He said the state government had plans to restructure motor parks in the state and introduce holistic ticketing system, through which people could download from the Internet and use for any mode of transport in the state without any hitch.
