Biblical Background : 2 Corinthians 10:4 " KJV For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds " Every true believer must know that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against spiritual wickedness in high places and strong holds of the devil. We are in the last days and the devil is not sleeping nor relenting. One common weapon in the arsenal of the devil deployed to wrestle believers now is strong holds. What then is a strong hold? How do you know you are being held in one? Strong hold is coined from two words, strong and hold. Strong means something not easily subdued or taken while hold is to grasp, grip, delay or detain. Strong hold is therefore what grasp, grip, delay or detain you that is not easily subdued and will not want to let go. There are various types and kinds of strong hold. Anything that does not allow serve God effectively and efficiently is a strong hold! Have you identify the strong holds the devil is using against you? Identifying Strong Holds Ephesians 6:12"AMP:For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere." From the Bible reference above, we do not wrestle with physical forces alone. The strong holds of the devil is usually not physical but spiritual forces. Do you think someone will come and hold your hands or hold your leg physically and you will say you are in a strong hold? No! You can identify strong holds by the following; 1. Anything that does not allow you serve God effectively and efficiently is a strong hold. 2. Anything that does not make you pray and fast regularly is a strong hold. 3. Anything that does not allow you preach the gospel and win soul for God is a strong hold. 4. Anything that does not make you pay your offering and tithe regularly and accurately is a strong hold. 5. Every addiction that does add value to the kingdom of God or your own life is a strong hold. Types/Kinds Of Strong Holds Strong hold is basically divided into two types and they are; 1. Physical / Visible Strong hold - Just as the name implies, this is a type of strong hold that you can see or touch. Eating is an example here. It's good to eat but don't let it become an addiction that will cause you not to fast regularly. Other examples includes drinking alcohol, premarital sex etc. 2. Spiritual / Invisible Strong hold - Just as the name implies, this is a kind of strong hold you can not see or touch but you can feel it. Examples here include anger, lying, keeping malice etc. How To Break The Strong Holds 2 Corinthians 10:"KJV For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds "From the Bible reference above, our weapons of warfare to pull down every strong holds of the devil and his agents are not physical or canal. You can not overcome evil with evil, you can only overcome evil with good. To break any strong hold, you must do the following; 1. You must be holy. Holiness is the real deal! When you are holy, the devil will have nothing against you. 2. You must be disciplined. If you want to go far in life you must reject the devil's offer and be disciplined. 3. Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers. Watch the friends you keep, remember evil communication corrupts good manner. 4. Absolute obedience to God. You can not be neutral or lukewarm nor have two master’s. You must consciously and unconsciously obey God always. Are you not tired of your life being tossed about by the devil and his agents? If you are, there is only one person that can give your life a meaning, and that person is Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Surrender your life to him today and you will be glad you did! There is a new silent killer that does not only kills unbelievers, but also believers who fails to recognize, acknowledge their status and seek help. The name of this silent killer is depression. Depression has successfully crept into the life of many and cause ruins. What are the symptoms of depression? How do I handle depression? How do I overcome depression? Is there freedom from depression? According to the Oxford mini dictionary, depression is defined as a state of mind producing serious, long-term lowering of enjoyment of life or inability to visualize a happy future. Basically, depression is a period of unhappiness or low morale which lasts longer than several weeks and may include ideology of self-inflicted injury or suicide. Depression nowadays does not only affect the old, it has also spread to the youths and young adults, thereby making their lives miserable and unbearable. Early detection and acknowledgement of a state of depression helps to manage and eradicate depression. What are the symptoms and manifestations of depression? Kinds Of Depression There are different kinds, types, forms and categories of depression. They include the following; 1. Financial depression - This is a state of depression caused by financial reasons. Many are depressed because they do not have money to spend. 2. Emotional / Situational depression - This is a state of depression caused by emotional imbalance and current situations. People under this category are always bitter and full of resentment based on a particular situation. 3. Psychological depression - This is a state of depression caused by psychological manipulations. Usually triggered by low self-esteem, fear and inferiority. Although there are several classification of depression from bipolar, melancholia, psychotic, cyclothymic, postpartum and atypical depression, the end result if not quickly detected, acknowledged and curtailed is suicide! Manifestations Of Depression There are so many manifestation, sign and symptoms of depression. They include the following. 1. Restlessness and Over worrying. 2. Feelings of exhaustion and loss of weight physically, mentally and spiritually. 3. Loss of focus, ambition, being anxious and inability to concentrate. 4. Constant feeling of hopelessness, despair and emptiness. 5. Constant blaming of others and feeling of guilt. 6. Loss of interest in praying, studying the Bible and fellow-shipping with other believers. 7. Loss of faith and believe in God or reality of heaven. Causes Of Depression The following are some of the causes of depression. 1. Stress and fatigue. 2. Grief and death/loss of someone close. 3. Hunger and poverty. 4. Past physical, sexual, or emotional abuse. 5. Difficult and hard life circumstances. 6. Constant defeat at the edge or verge of breakthrough. 7. Inability or difficulty in forgetting past loss or defeat. Overcoming Depression 1 Samuel 30:6"AMP:David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because the souls of them all were bitterly grieved, each man for his sons and daughters. But David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God." From the Bible reference above, David was distressed and depressed but he overcame. Overcoming depression is possible and attainable but, you have to be truth to yourself and make intentional efforts. First, you need to acknowledge you are depressed and seek help spiritually and professionally. Furthermore, you need to strengthen and encourage yourself in the Lord with the word of God. In addition, you need to surround yourself with positive people who will add value to your life and help you. Make sure you do not forsake the gathering of believers and the brethren. Again, avoid over worrying and being lonely. Make sure you eat well, sleep well and exercise your body and mind regularly. John 14:27"AMP:Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]" Finally, you need to surrender yourself and accept the Prince of peace, Jesus Christ into your life as your personal Lord and saviour. He is more than able and willing to bring an end to the reign of depression in your life! The world is fast evolving with technology driving ideas, innovations and creations. So many people are now practically not challenged and engaged to doing something notable and worthwhile, they are basically nonchalant and neutral. Are you neutral or just still busy doing nothing or engaged doing something notable and worthwhile? According to the Oxford mini dictionary, to be neutral is to be neither positive nor negative. Basically, a neutral person is a person who takes no side and is not known for something in particular. Many so called believers nowadays are neutral in the sense that they are afraid or unwilling to profess their belief. As a true and genuine believer, you only have one life and that is the life of Jesus Christ in you and you must be proud of that life! Are you a genuine believer or a neutral believer? Characteristics Of A Neutral Believer The characteristics of a neutral believer are numerous, only a few will be mentioned and they include the following; 1. Neutral believers are heady and disobedient. 2. Neutral believers are proud, full of themselves and boastful. 3. Neutral believers are selfish, greedy and covetous. 4. Neutral believers are not prayerful. 5. Neutral believers are too busy and always find excuses not to attend gathering of brethrens. 6. Neutral believers do not read and study their bible regularly. 7. Neutral believers move by sight and not by faith. A neutral believer is a casual and a carnal believer. What are the dangers of being a neutral believer? Dangers Of Being A Neutral Believer Romans 8:6-8" (6) KJV:For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (7) KJV:Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. ( KJV:So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.From the bible reference above, we can see some of the dangers, effects and consequences of being a neutral believer. One of the dangers of being a neutral believer is death spiritually. There are so many walking dead believers because they are neutral and carnal. Another impending danger to a neutral believer is enmity against God because a neutral believer is proud. Remember, God always resists the proud but gives sufficient grace to the humble. In addition, another danger and effects a neutral believer is exposed to is inability to please and satisfy God. Of what value is the life you are living if you are not pleasing and satisfying God? We are created to give God pleasure! Finally, according to our biblical background in Revelations 3:16, a neutral believer cannot be retained in the plans and purpose of God, he or she God will spew out of his mouth! Isaiah 35:8b"AMP:And a highway shall be there, and a way; and it shall be called the Holy Way. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it shall be for the redeemed;" Don't be fooled and don't allow the devil and his agents deceive you that you can be neutral and still make heaven because that's a lie from the pit of hell! Are you all in for God? How To Overcome Being A Neutral Believer A neutral believer is spiritually dead, blind and enslaved to sin. To overcome being a neutral believer, your efforts must be concise and intentional. First you must be humble, obedient, willing, available and ready to do the will of God. Irrespective of how 'ridiculous' the will of God may sound, look or feel, obey it! Again to overcome being a neutral believer, there is a need to protect the “Gates” of your mind and let go some certain behavior and deeds. Remember, you may be in the world, but you are not of this world! In addition, there is a great need to study and meditate on the word of God regularly in order to overcome being a neutral believer. The word of God contains instructions, information and guidelines that will help you grow in all ramifications and draw you closer to God. Furthermore, to overcome being a neutral believer, think on heavenly things. When your heart and mind is fixed on things above, you will have no time to be neutral. Watch your association, watch where you go and what you allow into your heart. Guard your heart with all diligence and let it fixed on things above alone. Finally, to overcome being a neutral believer, there is need to surrender and rededicate your life to Jesus Christ. There is no need to deceive yourself that you are saved when you know you are not. Do not delay or procrastinate your salvation, delay is dangerous! SOURCE: http://www.thebelievershub.com/2018/09/are-you-neutral.html Read more from: http://www.thebelievershub.com/

Biblical Background : Matthew 22:37 "AMP:And He replied to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect)." How are you doing today? Our God is a great God that rules in the affairs of men. He is the unlimited and the unquestionable God! Our God does not settle for good or better, he seeks the best and excellent. God seeks only those that holds back nothing but gives their best and their all in all to him alone because he is a jealous God. What are you withholding from God? Withholding Nothing is coined from two words, withhold and nothing. According to Oxford mini dictionary, to withhold is to retain; to keep back; not to grant; as, to withhold assent to a proposition. While nothing is an absence of anything, including empty space, brightness, darkness, matter, or a vacuum. So therefore, the phrase ‘withholding nothing’ means to give everything, with no holding back. We are to give God our all in all with no hold backs. We are to give our time, money, intellect, energy and any other resources at our disposal to God withholding absolutely nothing! What Makes People To Hold Back From God The following makes some so called believers to hold back from God. 1. Greed - This is obviously the first reason. Remember, he gave you all that you own now in the first place. 2. Covetousness - Another reason why many hold back from God is covetousness. Be satisfied with what he has provided now and when he asks, be more than willing to give back to him. 3. Fear - Furthermore, many hold back from God because of fear. Fear of what to eat, drink and wear after giving to God should not be considered because he will never leave you stranded nor begging. 4. Peer Pressure - In addition, yet another reason why many hold back is being called a fool by their peers for giving unto God. It is better to be a fool for God than to be a fool to the devil! 5. Social Media - Finally, the social media. I decided to put this because there is so much circulation that we should withhold payment of tithe. Do not follow what men are saying, rather follow what God has said in the scriptures! Bible Characters Who Withheld Nothing There are so many people in the bible who gave their all in all. Only a few will be discussed and they include the following; 1. Abraham (Genesis 21:1-19) After Abraham had waited for several years childless, God finally fulfilled his promise by giving Sarah a Son. God then asked Abraham to give his only son with no hold back. He obeyed and God made him the father of many nations. 2. The Widow Of Zarapheth (17:8-16) The widow of Zarapheth was just about to prepare her last meal when Prophet Elijah showed up and requested the last meal be brought to him. She obeyed and she never lacked anything good for her lifetime. 3. Apostle Paul (Romans 8:35-39) Apostle Paul Withheld absolutely nothing by giving his best and all in all for the spreading of the gospel to nations of the world. He was flogged, jailed, hungered, persecuted and even mocked, but all that could not deter, hinder nor stop him from giving his best for the sake of the gospel. John 3:16"AMP:For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life." The bible reference above portrays the hallmark of withholding absolutely nothing! God's love for mankind made him not only to give us his only son, but also to sacrifice him for the remission of our sin, unfaithfulness and unrighteousness. There is a great need to recognize our abilities, gifts, skills, accomplishments and influence – and pledge it all to God to be used for His glory. With constant prayer and worship we will figure out what He needs us to do and when he needs us to do them. If you want to truly know how to withhold nothing from God, you need to genuinely give your life or rededicate your life to Jesus as your personal Lord and savior. Text: 1 Peter 3:3-5 God's definition of beauty is completely different from humans definition. Men say, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. This concentrates only on external appearance. But while men look on the outward, God looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). What then is beauty? According to the Oxford mini dictionary, beauty is the property, quality or state of being "that which pleases merely by being perceived" (Aquinas); that which is attractive, pleasing, fine or good looking; comeliness. The world's definition of beauty depends on the outward appearance like the clothes you wear, shoes you put on, your hairstyle, your perfume, your jewelries, hand bags etc. What then is God's definition of beauty? 1 Peter 3:3-4" (3)ESV:Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear. (4) ESV:But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious." Beauty, for a genuine daughter of God, should depends on how God sees it and not as man see it. No matter how beautiful or attractive you may look on the outward, God will not be attracted to you if your inner man is rotten and spoilt! There is nothing wrong in looking beautiful by wearing good clothes, ear ring, jewelry and other accessories like beads or hand and neck chain but the motive, intention and purpose is what really matters. Are you wearing them to cover unclothedness or to 'slay' and seduce? Do not think that dressing shabby and unattractive will automatically makes you holy before God. Do not think that dressing sophisticatedly, so much that there is no difference between you and an unbeliever will make you holy before God. Outward beauty is temporary and it fades but inner beauty is eternal and it never fades! What then is beyond beauty? To be beyond beautiful is not only seen with the naked eyes but also perceived in the heart. To be beyond beautiful is possessing some attributes that pleases God. Beyond Beauty Ornaments Beyond beauty ornaments are attributes and characteristics that distinguishes you from an unbeliever. These are not ornaments of silver, gold or diamond, but much more valuable and precious in God's sight. These ornaments includes the following; 1. A gentle, meek and submissive heart. Some may take meekness for weakness, but it is not. One of the ornaments you must put on to look beautiful inward and before God is meekness, gentleness and submissiveness. Examples of women that wore this ornaments is Sarah and Rebecca. Sarah was submissive to the extent she called her husband master. Rebecca was meek and gentle to the extent she fetched thousands of gallons of water for strangers. 2. A quiet spirit. This is another ornament God wants us to cultivate. A quiet person is peaceful and minds his/her own business without gossiping and backbiting. Hannah is a classic example here. Even when she was barren and her husband married a second wife, she did not pray for God to kill the second wife, rather she prayed for her own child. Even when the prophet insulted and accused her of been drunk with wine, she replied in a quite and peaceful manner. What a woman with a quiet spirit! 3. A holy life. There is so much beauty in Holiness (1 chronicles 16:29) Holiness is the external manifestations of an internal beauty, purity and loyalty to the Lord. Deborah is a good example here. While almost everyone had backslidden, she choose to remain on the highway of holiness and through her, God used her powerfully and mightily to conquer kingdoms and nations. When you are holy as a sister, you become a great, valuable and mighty instrument in the hands of God. If you fail or refuse to put on all or any of the beauty ornaments listed above, as far as God is concerned, you are not beautiful! Conclusion /Last Words Romans 12:2"ESV:Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." From the Bible reference above, we have been admonished and advised not to conform to this world but rather, we should be transformed by daily renewing our mind with the word of God for this only what is pleasing, perfect and acceptable by God. So therefore, from henceforth, let your beauty be pleasing and acceptable to God and harmless to men! May God help us to be beautiful inwardly in Jesus name (AMEN). In continuation of his efforts to offer succour to the people badly affected by the insurgency in Northern Nigeria, the Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries Int'l, Apostle Johnson Suleman has extended his hand of Love to Adamawa, North East Nigeria. The Man of God stormed the city of Yola, Adamawa State for a 2 days crusade that concluded with a visit to a Camp of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) sacked from their communities by Insurgents. The Crusade witnessed over 10,000 congregants gather at the Ribadu Square, Yola for an outpour of God's Glory as the Restoration Apostle led them to pray for Divine Intervention in their affairs and the Restoration of Peace in the Land. At the Malkohi IDPs Camp, Jimeta - Adamawa State, through his TOUCH OF LOVE FOUNDATION, the man of God gave relief materials worth over N3m to them including Educational Materials, Food Items, Wrappers and even Sporting Equipments. The Camp which houses over 3,000 persons majorly from Borno State are predominantly Muslims. Apostle Suleman was particularly touched by the standard of living of the people and made a commitment to continually send relief materials regularly. He also paid for Chairs, Desks and other Educational Materials for the children to aiding their learning. He called for concerted efforts to making Peace reign in the country even as all Nigerians demand for the overall good of all, no matter their tribe or religion. Apostle Suleman was received in the state by creme de la creme in the Political cum Religious structures of the State and paid a courtesy visit to the Governor accompanied by CAN & PFN executives. It would be recalled that Apostle Suleman had earlier in the year donated N4m & N5m respectively to the State Governments of Taraba & Benue State to cushion the effects of the rampaging destructions of the Herdsmen attacks. "The overall Peace & Progress of the Nation is non-negotiable" he stated in a brief media chat with news men. There are times when it seems God is silent. There are even times you feel God is silent. Yes, God sometimes keeps silent. God does not just keep silence for no reason(s). However, there are times God speaks but you are not sensitive enough in the spirit to hear. The most important relationship you should have is a personal relationship between yourself and God. REASONS WHY GOD MAY BE SILENT There are basically two reasons why God may be silent. 1. SIN - Isaiah 59:1-2" (1) KJV:Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: (2) KJV:But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear." This number one reason is very broad but anything that is not godly falls into this category. There is nothing like small, medium or big sin, sin is sin! 2. GOD - Isaiah 55:8"KJV:For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord." Apart from sin, another reason why God is silent is God himself! Our thoughts are not his thoughts and his ways are definitely not our way. A thousand year to us might be a day to him. He is God after all! If you want God to start speaking, you need to stop sinning! Whenever God is examining or testing our faith, he is usually silent. The following Bible Characters experienced the silence of God; 1. JOB - Job 30:20"NIV:“I cry out to you, God, but you do not answer; I stand up, but you merely look at me." When Job was going through his trial of faith, he called upon God but God was silent and just looked at him. 2. DAVID - Psalm 22:2"AMP:O my God, I cry in the daytime, but You answer not; and by night I am not silent or find no rest." Despite the fact that God said David is the Apple of his eyes, there are times God was silent when he calls. 3. JESUS - Matthew 27:46"KJV:And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Even Jesus experienced the silence of God. One lesson we must learn from the Bible Characters above is that they never compromised even when God was silent. Even when it seems God is silent, don't be silent in preaching the gospel. WHAT TO DO WHEN GOD IS SILENT 1. Study More - When it seems or you feel God is silent, don't just fold your arms, you need to engage yourself in studying and meditating his word. 2. Pray More - Another spiritual exercise you should engage yourself in when it seems God is silent is praying. Pray without ceasing! 3. Praise Him - You shouldn't praise God only when he speaks to you. Let praise become an habit, always praise God in advance! That God is silent does not mean you should too, instead of folding your arms, complaining and murmuring, study his word, pray without ceasing and praise him unconditionally! Don't be weary or tired of seeking God. To achieve this seeking him unconditionally. If there is one thing you can absolutely rely and depend on, it's the unfailing and unchanging words of God because, what he says he will do is what he is going to do. Deuteronomy 31:8"NIV:The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Even when it seems God is silent, he has promised never to leave nor forsake you, so do not be discouraged nor dismayed. If you are yet to give your life to the son of God, Jesus Christ, you are only causing yourself more harm than good. He is way, the truth and the life and he does not keep silent nor forsake nor forgets his own. Don't delay your salvation, tomorrow may be too late! What is worry? According to Oxford mini dictionary, to worry is to Disturb the peace of mind of; afflict with mental agitation or be in distress. Worrying doesn't solve the problem, worrying causes anxiety, facilitates resentment and encourages greed! Many people worry for so many reasons, but whatsoever your reason(s) may be, do not worry! Don't bite more than you can chew. Live a full life within your capabilities daily. What Makes People Worry Matthew 6:25"NIV:“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?" Although there are over 1,000 reasons that makes people worry, from the Bible reference above, our Lord Jesus Christ identifies the top reasons that makes people worry. They include the following; 1. Worrying about Life. 2. Worrying about what to eat. 3. Worrying about what to drink. 4. Worrying about what to wear. If you know what makes you worry, it will be easier to leave the state of worry to the state of total dependency on the word of God. Which of the reasons above makes you worry the most? The love of money is mainly the root cause of worry. Be contented with whatever you have. Worrying is an act of unbelief. You worry when in doubt and confusion. Instead of getting yourself worried, meditate on the word of God and sing praises! Worrying is contagious. Surround yourself with positive minded people. Dangers and Effects Of Worrying 1. Worrying affect your health. Majority of those with high blood pressure, hypertension and other blood related problems are those that worry too much. It is also said that worrying reduces your lifespan. 2. Worrying affect your appetite. Worrying does not just affect your appetite for food or drink, it affects your appetite for almost anything. 3. Worrying affects your spiritual life. Worrying will not only affect your spiritual life, it will also make your heart far from God. When you are worried, you can be in the church or even praying or even reading the word of God but your mind will be far away. 4. Worrying affects the way you treat others. When you worry, you are not likely to be in the right frame of your mind. You get angry easily, you will seek vengeance and get easily offended. Worrying about what people will say when you are trying to do the right thing is inevitable. Be sure you put God first in your decision. Why You Shouldn't Worry You shouldn't worry because according to our biblical background, Jesus advises us not to worry. Furthermore, you shouldn't worry because, that situation causing you to worry, God can handle it. He is the almighty God after all! Jeremiah 32:27"KJV:Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?" Instead of worrying or being anxious, be full of thanks and take to Apostle Paul's advice in Philippians 4:6"AMP:Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God." Don't allow money, what to eat, drink and wear cause you to worry! In conclusion, Jesus has the cure and solution to all your worries and anxiety, accept him today as your Lord and personal saviour. 1 Peter 5:7"AMP:Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully." Stop playing the "what if” game. Don't worry yourself about the past and what's to come in the future. SOURCE: http://www.thebelievershub.com/2018/06/why-worry.html
