When you mail them, they send generic response.

Their processing time for appeal is within 6months and going by their processing time for application, the possibility of them maxing out that 6months is high...Appeal takes longer time than normal application.
if you plan to resume January, withdraw your appeal and do a free application..But make sure you address every refusal in that application.

I’m in a similar boat. Submitted my police clearance in July. Did medicals and biometrics in September and it’s been silence since. Now thinking about it, my police clearance would have expired since validity is only 3 months but I don’t think I want to do another. Although it’s background check that’s outstanding. God help us.

Our VO is also Accra.Initially it was Sydney.
Our situation is similar in that medical was approved in June and since then it's been silence from Accra VO.

No updates yet. I received GCMS notes and saw that our file has been transferred to Accra. I heard Accra office waste time.
The notes also show that the application is still at the criminality check stage. It turns out the police certificate expired about a month into processing, and by that time only my sponsor eligibility had been completed. We’ve now submitted a new police report, along with additional photos from our church wedding and our wedding party.

Not to justify their rubbish, they handle four countries visa processing and I think that will be a lot cause I can’t imagine what Nigeria number alone will be then adding 3 other African countries plus the Ireland embassy are probably lazy and short staffed

It is just unfair and poor by the embassy. Genuinely due to lack of transparency its even hard to trust the process.

An appeal is not an entirely new submission. I suppose an appeal should require fewer documents but understandably more scrutiny

My concern with the process is this: why refuse an application immediately due to incomplete documentation in most cases, especially when the missing information is something that can be clarified or provided easily?

Would it not be more efficient to have a portal or link to a portal where applicants can upload missing documents or provide explanations before a final decision is made? This would save time for both the applicant and the embassy and would reduce the number of refused applications.

It’s tiring …..I just feel like withdrawing…..I submitted since August 14th ….more than 12weeks and the Embassy is saying my application is in queue for processing even after 12weeks …for a study visa …

Influx of application regardless.
The UK stilll processes more application than ireland and does not take more than 15 working days.
it's their processes and the people within the process.

Yh, I think they are gradually fading out the appeal process too cause who’s going to wait for 6months when normal application is like 12weeks maximum. I have an appeal with the. Since September and don’t even know what to do and I need my passport at the same time to start looking at other places

There is not much you can do then, if the tracking shows that document has been received, then relax your mind about it.

If you able to eventually register on the portal then maybe there is update there.

What I meant is that the candidate can pick another course starting in January and school can issue another letter, even that could mean sending additional documents sometimes to meet requirement for the course

Unfortunately that won't work because if a visa is issued now, it is issued against the admission letter and course you're going for in your admission letter.

The only way January switching can work is if the course you applied for in September has a January intake. With that you can either apply for January admission or school gives you a letter stating that your admission has been deffered to January.

If anyone has a January start for same course and the September resumption deadline has elapsed and you still haven't gotten your decision (your application is still in queue for processing), it's either you withdraw your application so as to prevent a refusal or you quickly (and I mean very quickly) ask your school to defer your admission to January and then you quickly send this to the embassy so that they know you're still in good standing to make use of the visa approval (if given)

The visa entry date is often 3 months so if you get it in October you can still travel before January and all will still work out. All this is ultimately dependent on the fact that you get a visa approval and not a refusal.

Since you sent your appeal via mail, send them an email to confirm that they have received your appeal.
provide the application umber and other details.

No worries at all. I think you should attempt registering again. I registered immediately after AVATS submission late June but I don't think there's anything you can do on the portal if you don't register.

Except your course has a January intake, the smart thing to do at this time would be to withdraw your application ASAP (if it is still in queue for processing)

That way your visa record remains clean, you can process your refunds from your school if you're not deferring, minimise your losses and use your passport and remaining funds for other opportunities that are still available now because time has already been wasted.
Don't waste it further. ✌🏽

He doesn't need resident permit before resuming.
He needs to get the resident permit before the 3 month visa validity expires

Yes, infact as early as April to be honest. Considering appeal incase application gets refused

My school gave me till October 10 to defer my admission till next year September
So I'm hoping I get my decision before then and appeal to the school to allow me resume
With all of these happening, I will advise anyone coming to Ireland next year to submit their application as early as May

If you got to Ireland on resumption date, why did you not go to your school and appeal to them.

One question..you were given entry visa? and you have to resume and start your school before you can get resident permit. So I would say wait a bit before coming to Ireland like 2 months Because you won't be doing anything apart from spending money. But if you can get resident permit before you resume that would be great.

1. School should give you deadline to resume.
2. if the visa decision is approved before the deadline, then travel to Ireland
3. if the visa decision comes say 1 week after deadline, email the school to let them know and if they can give you grace since its just 1 week past...They should allow you to join classes online for now.
4. If school is deferring they would have sent a letter
5. Embassy may ask for that letter, if they do, then send to them and there would be no other option but wait till January
