Business › Do I Have To Reapply For A New Atm Card If My Gtbank Card Gets Stuck In Another Bank's Machine? by bigx(op): 1:35pm On Jan 19, 2012
I put my gtbank atm card in an intercontinental bank machine during the strike and the screen of the machine went white.
I went to the bank today only to be told that I should apply fot a new card. Is that normal practice?.
Business To Business › Re: Inspired Autos Bureau De Change ( Buy US$ At Cbn Rates ) by bigx(m): 3:46pm On Jan 17, 2012
@inspired Please Do you Have Euros Too? And What Rate if Yes?
Business › Re: I Urgently Need To Buy The Euro by bigx(m): 3:28pm On Jan 17, 2012
Please I don't really understand this, My Internet Banking Only Puts My DOM account numbers when I try to transfer.
Meanwhile the Official rate is around 206 Euros in the GTBank Interfce & I never get to buy at this rate.
Is there anyway anyone actually gets as low as this rate?

arbitrage:
As for good bargain on the rate, I do not think abokis or bureau de change will give you better than bank transfer services. If you use GTB internet banking, you can see their rate anytime you log on. It is usually the official rate rounded to nearest whole number not usually ecxceeding 1 in addition be it $, euro or pounds.

As for my DOM or card use, I never have to buy the euro as your money (dollar or naira) will be converted to the receiver at the prevailing market rate as at when you are making the transfer/payment. For instance, my DOM with Union and GTB are in dollars but with Zenith I have $, euro and pounds. So if I use my union card online or outside Nigeria, the DOM dollar will be charged at the prevailing rate but usually no charge. If it is the naira I spend (bank transfer), naira will be charged plus the usually transfer/charges (usually better than abokis rate overall).

If I use GTB DOM for the transfer, it is charged at higher than usual rates because GTB added another fee/charge that makes it be like twice the normal bank charges/fees. If you use GTB naira mastercard for the transfer/payment (now that means on the recipient website or by withdrawal from ATM outside Nigeria), it will be at the prevailing market rate plus just N1k. This is the best option if you are outside Nigeria (ATM withdrawal) or your recipient has website to receive the money from your card. Your GTB dom visa card can also be used to make the payment or withdrawal (if outside) but at less charge and official rate compared to bank transfer from the GTB DOM.

So for my DOM transfer, the bank does the remittance to my recipient in euro at the prevailing/official rate from my dollar denominated account. The only side to that is that you will have to get the dollar (or euro or pound) first before you put it into your DOM. I prefer doing the bank transfer from my Naira account. The bank will give me offical rate to euro and calculate how much Naira I will pay and the charges/fees for bank transfer, all chraged to my Naira account. In that case I do not worry about getting dollar, euro or pound to fund my DOM first. BUT that option usually requires you to produce a proof of the need to make foreign payment. e.g. school fees addmission letter, invoice from a seller of goods/services you are buying, or travel ticket & visa for a BTA or PTA (this one will only give you the euro by cash and not send it on your behalf to the recipient), etc.

Bros!!! I really need to learn more about this car o! The car actually parked for months while I was looking for who could fix the not starting, the 170 was even the cheapest price though I still have the changed unit in my boot just in case.

To think of it, before the last issue I was driving and the engine went off, the person that checked the car said the temperature sensor was I think coated by rust or something though the car was normal after that so I didn't think of it. I would check them once I'm out this morning!!

No I didnt change the water pump, would it be alright to change that now? The timing belt issue is not something I want to go through again.

Ivnt looked at the car for a while after the last issue, I would open it up once its daytime and look through everything as you suggested.
Thanks a million!

I have a Peugeot 307 and I don't know if it's the Car or the Mechanics in Port-Harcourt but the Car is turning into a Nightmare.

First of all, I went to visit some friends, on entering the car to leave, It refused to start or even light up,
I went through four mechanics and "diagnostic fees" ( 2 big workshops included) before a mechanic told me the Brainbox and BSI where bad.
I gave him 170,000 to change them (and my key).

After that, the car started and was working ok (apart from one high-pitched sound whenever I turn on the radio).

I used the car for a few days after that till:

2.) My timing belt cut all of a sudden on the way to my house.

I spent almost 40,000 on fixing that and it seems the mechanic did a shoddy job on that because the next morning

3.) My Fan Belt Cut: I got one off a close by mechanic and could use the car again but

4.) Right now, when the Car is being used, if it is switched off when the Engine is Hot, it would never start until the Engine cools down.

I am really tired of mechanics here and if anyone could recommend a Good, Honest and Affordable Port Harcourt based Peugeot 307 mechanic who would check everything on the car and fix it I would be very glad.

Thanks!!

The picture of d burning man was also posted earlier today, as being that of one of the policemen who shot d protester in lagos and is now  a victim of mob action, I think this is a mischevious attempt to spread dissension between northerners and southerners in the country, while we occupy nigeria, let our protests also confront all these politicians and elite who use the masses as pawns to further their selfish aims, Jonathan isnt the only problem,, but a symptom of the problems which have plagued the country overtime, lets treat the cause and not the symptoms,

We really have a serious "pull him down" mentality in this country. Businesses run on debt and his paying means he shows a level of sincerity in his dealings. You cannot compare that with some others on the list

Hmmmnnn, for short term I think the first bank is good enough, theey have disclosed their losses and we know where they stand and they are also very shareholder friendly, and, Their last public offer was N33 so its rather alright though nowadays you can't really predict the market and you need a fast broker wink By the way, forget about depending on brokers advice (talking from experience here), they make their money whether you gain or you loose.

Well she spoke her mind, we don't like that in these parts, cry but I guess they (EFCC) would need a little ginger, they have been a bit quiet though they might also say they are working behind the scenes. All said though, Clinton was fair.

This amnesty thing sef, in my opinion they should try taking care of the cause of everything and not the results. I am really tired of all the violence going on,
