As regards to South Africa and Dubai being a good travel history. The answer is [b]NO. A good travel histories for a Canadian study visa are trips to first-rate countries namely.... US, New Zealand, UK, Australia, Ireland, Paris, Turkey etc.[/b]

I was reviewing an applicant GCMS note last week, and the visa officer stated:
"The applicant's prior travel history is insufficient to count as a positive factor in my assessment." Mind you, the applicant has travelled to Ghana, South Africa and Dubai. This is a clear evidence that these countries do not count as a travel history.

Bro Cana respect Sponsorship a lots cos they believe schooling and working to sponsor your full self will be a tedious things to do and might have negative effect on the main purpose of your visit to Canada which is study so in this case someone sponsoring you be it any family members give u edge...

I'd suggest you go runz this stuff... Some bankers do it.. Though you won't have access to the money, is just to show proof to the VO that u have sponsor that will carter for u while studying in Canada and the sponsor SoA must read from 12m-20m in Naira.... That's the new policy now (came out last week)

That would be great and sufficient. I will advice you explain extensively in your LOE how the presented funds with your application will be spent during your first year of study in Canada and the possibility of funding for future years. By so doing, you will be able to tackle funds availability and accessibility by the applicant that might be raised by the visa officer.

2. Your sponsor not having same surname with you won't be a problem as long as he can show commitment (by either paying your tuition fee or transfer the said fund into your personal account). I always advise people using third party sponsor (someone that is not parent or siblings) to make sure the sponsor pay their tuition fee or transfer the money into their personal account just to assure the VO that fund will be readily available when it's time
