The Federal Government has reversed the decision by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board to allow candidates that applied to universities with surplus applicants for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations to be reassigned to other universities with lower number of applicants than their capacities. ‎

The policy had been trailed by protests in parts of the country.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr.MacJohn ‎Nwaobiala‎, disclosed this to State House correspondents on Tuesday after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari of his ministry's activities and challenges at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

JAMB had at its 2015 Combined Policy Meeting adopted the policy.
Protests started at the University of Lagos when the institution's authorities announced that only candidates whose names were officially forwarded by JAMB would be eligible to participate in this year’s UNILAG Post-UTME.

Does it apply to other students whose 1st choice school increased their cutoff mark? because I scored 197 in Jamb and my course is sociology and uncial is my first choice school but the school raised the cutoff to 206 as to jamb's 180.... Please what does this reverse policy mean to me? Thanks..

ESUT do offer art courses...I will advice you not to go for noun you must be too young for the noun system..

you're correct with me being young and I'll scrap the noun stuff out.. I check and esut post ume form is closed and just today Jamb stated that student who didnt meet the cutoff set by the school wud be redistributed to other institution.. What do you think? And thnks for helping me with informations.

For example now, one chose Unical has his first choice to study sociology and score 197 in the utme. Now, Unical raises its sociology cutoff mark to 206 making it ineligible for those who scored below. So now, does that mean Jamb will redistribute that student with 197 to another institution?

This is my second time writing jamb and i scored 197, but the stipulated cutoff mark for my course choice which is 206 in UNICAL. I know that i am not eligible to write the post ume exams but i would like to ask if there are schools i could buy their form and sit for their exams without choosing them in my jamb? please i need answers as i would not like to stay a year at home... Facebook has bought an eight-month-old British start-up that recreates real-world scenarios in virtual reality.

Surreal Vision, which started life at Imperial College London, has been snapped up by Oculus VR, the company behind the Oculus Rift headset that was bought by Mark Zuckerberg’s social network for $2bn (£1.3bn) last year.
Surreal Vision has developed technology that allows users to interact in a computerised version of the real world. It aims to make this version is so real that it is impossible to distinguish between the two.
This could allow people to hold business meetings as if they are in the same room when in fact they are located in different countries - a process known as “telepresence”.

Surreal Vision’s founders - Richard Newcombe, Renato Salas-Moreno, and Steven Lovegrove - will all join Oculus, in Redmond, Washington state.
"We’re developing breakthrough techniques to capture, interpret, manage, analyse, and finally reproject in real-time a model of reality back to the user in a way that feels real, creating a new, mixed reality that brings together the virtual and real worlds," Surreal Vision said in a blog post.


“These technologies will lead to virtual reality ... systems that can be used in any condition, day or night, indoors or outdoors. They will open the door to true telepresence, where people can visit anyone, anywhere.”
"Much progress has been made toward this future, but significant challenges remain. For virtual reality, the accuracy and quality of the continuously updating 3D reconstruction must be near flawless, which is a requirement almost no other modern computer vision problem faces. When we cross these seminal thresholds, users will perceive the virtual world as truly real – and that is the experience we’re driving toward."
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Oculus Rift is expected to be launched next year. It first emerged as a Kickstarter project in 2012, promising to “take 3D gaming to the next level”.

Mr Zuckerberg believes that virtual reality will one day become a part of daily life for billions of people.
"Imagine enjoying a court side seat at a game, studying in a classroom of students and teachers all over the world or consulting with a doctor face-to-face - just by putting on goggles in your home," he said.
"Virtual reality was once the dream of science fiction. But the internet was also once a dream, and so were computers and smartphones."

Google may unveil an online picture sharing and storage service that will be independant from the Google+ social network, with more details to be expected at Google's annual software developers conference in San Francisco later this month.

The new photo tool will let users post images to Facebook and Twitter, according to unnamed sources quoted by Bloomberg.

In March, Google Senior Vice President Sundar Pichai said that Google?s photos and social-stream features were likely to be treated as separate features.

Keeping such a service seperated from Google+ could help Google better compete with rivals.

Facebook acquired mobile photo-sharing service Instagram in 2012 and quickly gave the business independence within the company. The result was a significant user base growth.

Omirin and Orisalade were replaced by Dele Olugbemi and Adunni Modupe Olayinka as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectfully.

E! News can confirm Kristin Chenoweth and Hollywood producer Dana Brunetti have broken up after nearly a year of dating.

In addition to busy careers and travel schedules, a source tells E! News that Brunetti wanted to spend more time with his daughter.

The private couple first sparked romance rumors at Matthew Morrison‘s Halloween birthday bash in 2013. As Chenoweth dressed up as a SWAT team member, an eyewitness spotted the perky Broadway star cuddling up to Brunetti.

In 2100, summer high temperatures in New York will be similar to current summer high temperatures in southwest Florida, according to a new report from Climate Central, a climate news and research group.

The report shows how America's summer weather will essentially migrate from south to north as the climate continues to warm, based on computer model projections and recent trends. The analysis assumes a worst-case emissions scenario in which we won't make significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions through 2080.
Climate Central projected summer high temperatures for 1,001 cities, and then showed which city in the U.S. or worldwide already experiences those summer temperatures today.

Some of the results are striking. Assuming current emissions rates continue, Boston's average summer high temperatures could be more than 10 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than they are now, making the city as mild as Miami Beach is today, the report found. Summers in inland locations may warm more, since ocean temperatures increase more slowly. Helena, Montana, for example, could jump by nearly 12 degrees Fahrenheit, making it feel like Riverside, California.

Some of the statistics presented in the report are frightening if you hate hot weather and live in the northern areas of the U.S.

For example, the report found:

"In some cases, summers will warm so dramatically that their best comparison is to cities in the Middle East. Take Las Vegas, for example. Summer highs there are projected to average a scorching 111 degrees Fahrenheit, which is what summer temperatures are like today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. And at 114 degrees Fahrenheit,

"living in Phoenix will feel like summering in sweltering Kuwait City.

Notably, the analysis only describes summer high temperatures, and does not incorporate changes to humidity levels, which contribute a great deal to how uncomfortable hot weather feels, and how dangerous heat waves can be.

Recently, a climate report was released that found that increased heat and humidity is likely to be a significant drag on the U.S. economy in the coming decades because it will limit the amount of time that outdoor work, such as construction, can take place.

Other studies have shown that mean annual average temperatures of typical locations on the planet will soon depart completely from even historical extremes and into entirely new territory in some parts of the world. That research, however, was challenged last week by a prominent group of climate researchers who say that it's calculations are inaccurate.
