Mimiko and his Intimidating Achievements The Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has been able to make a lot of transformation in every area of governance since becoming the helmsman of the state three years ago. Specifically, the Mimiko led government has been able to distinguish itself in the areas which include Education, health, Agriculture, Transport, Urban renewal, Community development, Housing and Sports among others. Through what has overtime become to be identified as the Iroko revolution in the state, the government commenced the process of bridging the gap between the elite and masses as far as education is concerned. In this process, a caring heart school tagged Mega School was designed and situated at the three Senatorial districts of the state. With this development, private schools have been made less attractive even as statistics have shown that rate of enrolment into public schools in areas which hitherto have witnessed very low patronage have now improved in high measure. The facilities provided by the Mega School meant for Primary school pupils have generally been agreed to be of no equal in the African continent. It is generally believed also that only few of its kind can compete with it in Europe and America. The Schools in Ondo are not all about structure. The state also has in place an agency which is basically saddled with the responsibility of maintaining high standard in schools in the state. Tagged Quality Assurance Agency, through it, the government uses its field inspectors to monitor activities of both teachers and students are being regulated for optimal performance by both the students and teachers alike. Already, the system has recorded so much impact that Oyo, Ekiti and Osun state government have applied to come and understudy the agency’s mode of operation. Health: This is one area the Mimiko led government has won for the state in particular and the country at large, international recognition. As its Abiye project continues to endear the government to both nationals Governor Olusegun Mimiko and foreigners. Under the very popular health project, Mother and Child hospitals are operational. The hospital is designed basically for expectant mothers. Under this project, Pregnant women are taken care of free of charge from conception of the pregnancy to about six weeks after delivery .The health scheme has become so popular to the extent that pregnant women from other parts of the country have turned Ondo State Mother and Child hospitals to Mecca of sort. It is also on record that the state government has planted medical centres in many communities that lacked one before the advent of the Mimiko government. Agriculture: The state government is maximizing the agricultural potentials of the state. It has even moved further to latch on this potential to fulfill its promise of providing employment for its graduates. The government has provided an agricultural scheme in Ore, Auga and Epe and Agric villages where graduates have been gainfully employed. The government has also established Tomapep factory in Arigidi Akoko..Another unique feature of the Mimiko’s agricultural undertakings is the value of the Auga cow farm where Cows are been reared in hundreds. Already, it has been affirmed that the Auga farm will conveniently take care of the Cow consumption needs of the South west people instead of relying on cow supplies from the North. Housing Projects; It is worthy of mention that there has not been any housing project in Ondo state in the last 28 years. No government that has come into being in the state within this period that has given attention into the housing needs of the citizens of the state until the coming of the present administration. Already, the government has made available about 300 housing projects which is already due for delivery but for the infrastructures being provided to compliment the facilities. The Housing units are located at Oba-ile, and Oda road. Community Development; this is one area the administration of Governor Mimiko holds very dear. It is so dear to it that the government at inception three years ago created a Ministry basically for Community issues .So far, the government has been able to reach out to 350 villages in the state with one project or the other using its 3i’s initiative. Under this preference, the government’s agent approaches a community for its needed project following which a contractor is selected within the locality and contracted to execute the agreed project. These projects range from Medical Centres, Town Hall, among others. Urban Renewal: The Urban Renewal programmes of governor Mimiko Is unprecedented in the history of the state. The government which has over the years earned for itself the appellation Sogbedigboroturning rural to urban places has not only made the urban centres worth living for natives and residents alike, but has also improved of the standard of living of the rural dwellers. The government has continued to allow for simultaneous development of both the rural communities and Urban centres. Millenium compliant Neighbourhood markets have been erected in Isikan, in Akue. It’s a two phase project that has since become operational. While the one in Ondo is still ongoing, the ones in other major towns in the states including Ikare have become operational. The New NEPA market in Akure is due for delivery soon. In the area of road construction, the Arakele idealization project is near completion while the Oba Adesida road has been already been completed. The Oke ijebu road is already concluded while the Owo town idealization project is still ongoing, ditto for the various road projects going on in Ondo Town, IKare and a quite a number of other towns in the state. The Akure city can now boast of the best traffic light in the African continent. Sports: This is one area the Mimiko led government is doing better than every other state in the federation. The state has as many as two teams in the nation’s premier league and it can boast of the best stadia in ghe country with the almost completed Akure sports stadium which has an Olympics size swimming with the football pitch being Astroturf. |

At a time when Tinubu and other ACN governors were busy lying to the electorates,Governor Olusegun Mimiko's chance of victory on saturday got a boast as a faction of the Ondo pdp endorsed the Governor for a second term based on his performance. PDP faction endorses Mimiko, expels Agagu, others THE crisis in the Ondo state Peoples Democratic Party PDP yesterday became messier as a faction of the party announced the expulsion of the immediate past governor, Dr. Olusegun Agagu and five other leaders of the party over alleged anti party activities. The factional leaders had themselves been expelled from the party on Sunday also announced their endorsment of Dr. Mimiko. Addressing newsmen in Akure, the PDP factional leader, Prof Olu Agbi said that they decided to endorse Governor Mimiko for a second term because the PDP candidate, Chief Olusola Oke cannot fly in the coming election. According to Agbi, “the candidacy of Oke is faulty from the foundation, the circumstances surrounding his emergence shows that he is not prepared and that he is still having “under corruption charges against him pending at the EFCC which was used against him in 2007.” Agbi, who is a former Ambassador to Austria, said that the purported expulsion of his faction was void and of no consequence because the state executive of the party led by Alabi” is not only illegal and existing in contempt of a valid court order that has not been set aside. “The arbitrariness of this action that smacks of lack of respect for constituted authority which had been our complaints about how the party was being run has again manifested itself to the whole world. Reacting, the state PDP described the factional leaders as “expired politicians whose economic woes have forced them to worship for a pittance at the altar of Governor Mimiko. The Special Adviser Media and Publicity of the Olusola Oke Campaign organisation, Kunle Adebayo said “instead of attempting to stop the moving train of progress driven by the masses of Ondo state, for the very last time, we urge Governor Mimiko to tow the path of honour by throwing in the towel and joining the PDP before humiliation and disgrace drops its luggage at his doorstep on Saturday October 20th. PDP knows neither faction nor disagreement. It does not know or support Labour Party or anybody named Rahman Olusegun Mimiko.” ” It supports integrity, Honesty, Modesty and action which our candidate Chief Olusola Oke represents.” The Akpata Community Development Association in Ese Odo local government area of Ondo State has thrown its weight behind the re-election of Dr Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State. In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Legbe Oyerigha, the association it hinged its support for Dr Mimiko over “his giant strides in the riverine areas of the state. He has taken governance from a theoretical to a practical realm.” It added that “the Labour Party-led administration has been able to demonstrate that it is possible for a viable synergy to be created between the government and the governed by putting in place projects that will make people see themselves as part of government”. Besides, the forum explained that the initiative taken by Dr Mimiko, “has been able to take people off the streets and relocate them into better places. The new urban programmes has helped in transforming glorified villages to befitting cities.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/10/pdp-faction-endorses-mimiko-expels-agagu-others/ |

what do you think about this opinion of a friend. If the cost of contesting in an election is so expensive including party nomination fee, money sharing during campaign and others, why will the selected person not be so expensively corrupt? I believe that if we must curb corruption among politicians we need to eradicate pre-election spending, so that we can focus on what the person seeking our mandate can do and not how much he has brought. As lo... ng as our politics remains within the realm of win as you pay, the selected leaders who have paid to win will require us to allow them gain back their money in million folds. Even if we pray to God to help us out of the corrupt leaders, God may not be able to help as He also believes in return on investment. I think that the people should contribute money and give to aspirants to buy a car, rent a house and do other things as the leader of the people. In this way, when he/she get to the office, he will have no option to follow the principle of return on investment to the people. So, whoever invests before election is the person who must harvest after elections. If aspirants pay to win, when they win, they must get paid back with funds meant for the people. If the people pay the aspirant to win, when he wins, he must pay the people back with the public funds. I am wondering who is creating corruption in politics? The people who ask to be paid before election or the politicians who are asked to pay before the election? |
a friend on mine just posted this on his facebook page.. WOMEN FOR CHANGE OOYEEEEEEEE WHY DO NIGERIANS YIELD TO DECEIT AND ARE FOOLED AGAIN AND AGAIN. During the presidential campaign, Mrs Jonathan patience came up with the initiative of Women for Change as a body that empowers women, provides for them, gives them free loan, train them to be self dependance and many more. In every state campaign. Madam women for change was on hand and Nigerians women were dancing around her. Salts, bags of rice, Rappers, clothes and many more were distributed on the campaign platform. Today Madam Women for change has retained her position as the first lady after exploiting the voting powers of Nigerian women. WHERE IS THE WOMEN FOR CHANGE INITIATIVE? i ran into the office in Abuja on Friday. It was under lock and key. grasses has grown everywhere, even at the entrance. The building is now being occupied by smaller creatures, the road to the office is like the road to my village during the military government. the sight of the gate and grasses grown on it will prove to you that no one has entered the office since May 29, 2011. WHAT A DECEIT. election will soon come and Women for Change and other bodies will arise again. Nigerians are fooled again and again and again, again, again |
