PoliticsWhy You Must Support Mimiko by bilms(op): 2:30pm On Oct 15, 2012
WHY YOU MUST SUPPORT MIMIKO IN ONDO. I support Mimiko with passion, all the progressives endorse him, because his achievements speaks for him.

Mimiko pays the highest minimum wage in Nigeria,N22,000 when other states in southwest and Nigeria are struggling and have not fully implemented the N18,000 minimum wage.

Tertiary institutions in Ondo state pay the lowest school fee in the southwest as well as in Nigeria, despite giving equal or even better quality than others.

It is only in Ondo state that we first heard and see a mega school affordable for the poor,a govt primary and secondary school with equal or better equipments than the multi million private schools,a school that is mega in construction, mega in facilities, mega in quality and mega in product. 54 of such have been completed so far and still counting.

It is only the Mimiko of ondo that has provided a free, efficient and quality healthcare for its people, which now served as a W.H.O model in the world.

This is a governor that owes no pensioners, not to talk of owing any worker.

A governor who provided the people with free world class modern markets across the state for convinience

What about the commercial car center?

The commercial agrobusiness,

Massive infrastructural development

The interest free loan for enterprenue for empowerment and others.

These and many more are reasons that i summed up to declare my support for Mimiko, which i believe would do more to uplift the living standard of the common man. The above is what i call a humanly governance.

ONDO PEOPLE, elect him. Vote for Mimiko of the labor party.

THE governorship election taking place in Ondo State on Saturday is not going to be a tea party for any of the three gladiators vying for the coveted seat of governor. Incidentally the trio: Olusola Oke of the PDP, Olusegun Mimiko of the ruling LP and Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the A C N, are graduates of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State.

For the first time in the history of the state, the three candidates eyeing the governorship position are representing the three senatorial areas of the state with each of them not only formidable in his locality but is ready to coast home to victory with every vote in his domain.

Oke, popularly referred to as "Oke is okay", represents the southern area where the immediate past Governor Olusegun Agagu hails from; Mimiko, fondly called Iroko of Ondo politics, is from the central; while Akeredolu; who goes by the name "the Chosen/ Aketi ", is from the northern area.

Of the 13 political parties presenting candidates for the contest, only the three are actually in the race while others are just there.

The opposition parties, that is PDP and A C N, are fielding heavyweights who are not leaving any stone unturned to uproot the Iroko of Ondo politics. It may actually be a big task for any of them because Mimiko himself is seeing this election as the fight of his life. It will either make or mar him politically.

While the PDP leaders, especially Agagu and the national leader of the A C N, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, would want to do all within their reach to sack Mimiko from the Government House to save their faces, the governor will want to prove a point that he is firmly in control of the state politically.

ACN candidate, Akeredolu

The three parties and their chieftains from within and outside the state have been involved in electioneering campaign across the 18 council areas of the state within the last one month. While the A C N campaign centres on personality attack of Mimiko, Oke chooses to combine attack with an assurance of building on the achievements of the immediate past Governor Olusegun Agagu before he was sacked.

Mimiko too combines attack of the A C N and the PDP with an improvement on his three years achievements in all the sectors of the economy.

Vice President Namadi Sambo led the National Chairman of the PDP Bamanga Tukur to the state to mobilise support for Oke who is the immediate past National Legal Adviser of the party, while Tinubu and National Chairman of the ACN Bisi Akande led other south west governors to the state for a three-day electioneering campaign for its candidate who is a former Nigeria Bar Association NBA President.

The choice of Oke as the candidate of the PDP has no doubt breathed life into the comatose party which has been engulfed in crisis since 2007 when the party was sacked.

Whereas some chieftains of the party are still not in support of his candidature, majority of them have beaten a retreat. His choice, despite the fact that Agagu equally hails from the southern area, is to neutralise Mimiko incursion into the senatorial zone believed to be the PDP stronghold.

In the A C N, the choice of Akeredolu greatly affected the popularity of the party following which many of the party chieftains, including some governorship aspirants, defected to the ruling LP and PDP in protest of his alleged imposition by leaders of the party from Lagos. His choice, despite criticism, was, according to the party leaders, to settle the northern area especially the Owo people, who have been marginalised after the tenure of the late sage, former Governor Adekunle Ajasin.

A critical analysis of the candidates shows that while Oke will put up a brilliant performance in the South where he hails from, Mimiko is banking on his achievements in the area to give the PDP candidate a good fight in his domain. Mimiko is planning to poach in this zone because many of his political appointees are from the southern part of the state.

Labour Party candidate, Mimiko

The councils in the South which Oke may win include Ilaje, Okitipupa with the help of Agagu, who is from there, and Ese Odo because of the Special Adviser to the President on Amnesty Programme and Niger Delta Affairs, Hon Kingsly Kuku, but the leader of ex-militant from the area, High Chief Bibopri Ajube, has vowed to work for the victory of Mimiko in the council area. The governor too may coast home to victory in the three remaining councils in the zone: Irele, Ile Oluji/Okeigbo and Odigbo.

Mimiko's associates ready to work for him in the zone include the environment commissioner Sola Ebiseni, the commissioner representing the state on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dele Omogbemi, a former commissioner on the Board of NDDC, Benson Enikuemehin, the member representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Raphael Nomiye, the chairman of the council, Banji Okuomo and the members of the House of Assembly, Oyebo Aladetan and Gbenga Edema.

The votes from Ilaje may be won by the LP or be spilt with the PDP. But the people of the area will not entirely leave their own at this crucial hour. In Irele, the LP with education commissioner Remi Olatubora and former works commissioner Yele Omogunwa will be able to checkmate the only House of Representatives member of the PDP from the area, Albert Akintoye.

The ACN may pull some weight in Okitipupa where its deputy governorship candidate, Dr Paul Akintelure, hails from but he cannot go far. The contest in Okitipupa is between LP and PDP with PDP having the upper hand. It is believed that the A C N may have votes in Odigbo and Ile Oluji but it will be minimal.

Now to the central senatorial district consisting of Ondo West and Ondo East, Ile Oluji Okeigbo, Akure North and Akure South, and Ifedore where the incumbent hails from, this is not the stronghold of the two opposition parties and Mimiko is expected to win massively in this zone.

The governor is expected to garner majority of the votes in his domain going by the level of development in this area of the state. Infact, he is being vilified for the concentration of projects here but, while many do not see the political implication, Iroko knew that the payback time will come and October 20 may be the time. But the likes of the Special Adviser to the Osun State Governor on Environment, Bola Ilori, and Dr Bayo Ademodi, a member of the Afenifere Renewal Group, may pull some weight in Ondo West and East but they cannot rattle Iroko there.

Mimiko has never lost any election in his Ondo West and Ondo East base while Akure South and Akure North local government areas will go the way of LP because of the infrastructural development masterminded by the governor in the areas.

Oke: PDP flagbearer

With the likes of information commissioner Kayode Akinmade, the Chief of Staff Dr Kola Ademujimi, the senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District, Ayo Akinyelure, and Taye Akinyele, a member of the House of Assembly, the hilly Idanre town will vote massively for the LP while the Deputy Director General of the Mimiko Campaign Organization, Clement Faboyede, and Gboye Adegbenro will hold tight to Ifedore council.

The opposition parties will struggle to have the required 25 percent in the central senatorial district despite the existence of the likes of the Director General of the Mimiko Campaign Organization, Chief Tayo Alasoadura in Akure North.

The northern senatorial district, which consists of Owo, Ose, Akoko Northe-East, Akoko North-West, Akoko South-West and Akoko South-East, is regarded as a free zone for the three parties to feed on. The PDP picked its deputy governorship candidate Saka Lawal from there just as the ruling LP deputy governorship candidate Alhaji Ali Olanusi, is from there.

It would have been the stronghold of the A C N if the party had allowed the emergence of its governorship candidate to be transparent. But Olanusi, though an old horse, has more political experience than the youthful Lawal who defected from LP to A C N and later crossed over to the PDP when he failed to be crowned the governorship candidate.

Lawal too is said to be a strategist and a mobilizer of youths who are in his age bracket.

Now the PDP and the LP are battling for the votes from the North with the two deputy governorship candidates cashing on their individual popularity and political patronage to the people. However, the LP won all the House of Assembly seats, the House of Representatives seats and the senatorial seat in the 2011 polls.

Akeredolu's choice frustrated the much-mouthed Akoko Agenda which the six Akoko councils had wanted to sell to the people of Ondo State to produce the governor but the A C N action has divided the councils. However, Akeredolu has been able to win back the heart of some of the aspirants of the party who were aggrieved and they have assured him of support in the areas. However, notable politicians from the areas, Dr. Olu Agunloye, Saka Lawal, and Olaiya Oni, have defected to LP and PDP.

The six Akoko councils have no stake in the opposition A C N and with the slot of deputy governor from both the PDP and the ruling LP, the councils may go either way or better still they may split the votes.

All said and done, the Muslim/Muslim ticket of the two opposition parties may work against them in the North because the district is predominantly Muslim. This may work for the LP which has a Christian/Muslim ticket.

Of the three graduates of the Obafemi Awolowo University, who will wear the Ondo gubernatorial cap on October 20? The answer remains in the belly of time.

Mimiko accuses ACN of plans to implicate LP members

The Mimiko campaign Organisation has alleged that the leaders of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) have arrived Ondo State with lots of printed vests, caps, arm bands and other mementos of the Labour Party (LP) to cause trouble in the State during its Akure mega rally next week.

In a release by its Director of Publicity and Media Relations, Mr Kolawole Olabisi, the MCO on Friday disclosed that the plans of the AACN was to make their thugs, who would be armed with offensive weapons to wear these LP party vests and other mementos.

It also alleged that these LP materials would also be used on the day of election contrary to the provisions of the Electoral Laws with a view to using them at the Election petition tribunal to attempt to disqualify the party.

“They would then infiltrate the LP’s Mega Rally to be held in Akure next week, thereafter, they are to start fighting with the aim of maiming and possibly kill some people while surreptitiously recording this gory scene on camera which would also be brought into the venue by their men. This would thereafter be broadcast on television stations and social media to make us look as if we are vagabonds like them.

“Aside this, they have already divided Ondo State into regions which would be manned by their henchmen to be coordinated by all the council chairmen in all the ACN controlled States. In fact, as of today, all the 57 local government councils in Lagos State are already in Ondo State while others from other states would soon join them this weekend”, the statement noted.

The MCO therefore appealed to the security agencies and the whole world to be aware of the latest in the desperation of ACN leaders, urging that any supposedly government convoy especially from Osun and Ekiti States, be thoroughly searched while those who could not give satisfactory answer to their businesses in Ondo State be turned back until after the election.

BusinessYour Weaknesses Is Your Strength by bilms(op): 11:26am On Oct 10, 2012
YOUR WEAKNESSES IS YOUR STRENGTH

My good people of the world,i understand that your are weak and every one is. Yes,everyone has a weakness.

The rich are weak because they cant do the hard work,so is the poor because they lack the financial freedom. The males are weak because they cant take care of the home,so is the females because they are less powerful in family management. The leaders are weak because they cant provide the need of the society and so is the followers because they cant influence situation like the leaders. The employers are weak because they cant do the work they created as well the the employee because they cant create the work they do. Students are weak and the lecturers too. Single are weak as well as couples.

Some people are weak financially, others are weak in the body, some are weak in opportunities and others are weak academically. I have even heard some people express weakness in voice and some in mind. We have people that are weak in business, weak in marriage, weak in creativity and many others weaknesses. My dear people,if you think you are weak in any way, don't worry pls, every weakness is a strength. Your weakness is the strength of others. They need your weakness, they are searching for you every day, don't hide your strength that you call weakness, help the world with it,it is valuable to others.

Do you think your weakness is greater than that of others? you maybe right. Thank your creator for yourself, for he has given you a special gift of life. This means you have a greater quality than others.

Weakness is the quality that distinguished special people. You are wondering how? Using Nigeria as an example, the able bodied men and women of Nigeria went to the London Olympics, but came back home empty with no single medal. But the weak special disabled men and women of Nigeria went to the paralympic and came back home with several medals. What we call the weaknesses of the disabled Nigerians that went to represent us at the paralympics was the special gift needed for the over 160million Nigerians to be happy and feel proud. Without these things that we call weaknesses, what would have put smiles on our faces? Apart from sport, your weakness is needed in every sector of life, from health to agriculture, technology to economics, development to creativity and host of other sectors.

Weakness is not a bad thing,it is a special gift and the world need it to grow. Your positively usage of it makes you whom you want to be. You also need it to put smiles on the face of humanity. Be proud of your weakness, use it,others need it,they want you to show it,they need your weakness to grow, they will pay you for it,God gave you to help others and as well help yourself. Dont hide it,don't feel bad about it,walk in it with confidence, share your weakness with people, its your weapon of success and victory.

Understand your weakness, practice it,get used to it,reason along with it,use it positively and it would deliver your dream success.

You are wondering what about your strength, Do you have a strength? Yes,every one does. Are you intelligent? we have many intelligent people,so what is special about it? What the world call Strength is not an advantage. If what we call strength was an advantage, Goliath would have defeated David in the story of the Bible. But the weakness of David was the special gift needed to make a difference. David Understood his weakness,he had practiced it,he feel confidence about it and defeated Goliath who thought his power was a strength. Though, what the world refer to as strength is good, but it can not lead you to your promise land without what we call the weakness. What you call strength need your weakness to be effective,if you only concentrate on what you call strength and abandon your real strength that you call weakness, you may never reach the land of promise.

The message of a new diaspora returnee to Nigeria.

It is lovely to be back online again, this time from my homeland, The Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It has been desperately chaotic settling down in Osun after 22 long years on a foreign unfriendly soil; however the support of some of my fellow indegene from Osun made the reintegration back relatively easier than it would have been. I hereby extend my deep appreciation to those members of the Osun ...

state government team who tirelessly supported me in the very difficult task of sorting my house out. The assistance from the Osun team can not be underestimated during the process, which gives credence to the saying that there is no place like home. Your efforts and physical assistance, emotional and psychological support is very much valued. Thank you all very much from the deepest bottom of my heart.

I am still getting used to the weather, my cultural heritage, environment but incredibly grateful to Allah for the opportunity to have the courage to come back to my root from a journey to 'hell'.
I am incredibly proud to be back to my soil and enjoy the freedom, liberty, equality and social justice that makes my homeland more enjoyable to me after spending 22 years in a foreign country where i had no sense of belonging but remained a stranger despite adopting British nationality with equality or liberty.

To my British children left behind in that country, i hope the British treat you well, i look forward to having you home with me regularly to enjoy the Nigerian hospitality and decency.
To all all my friends on Facebook, i am back online, fully invigorated, with even stronger will to stand up to my principles, morals and philosophy of life. Nice to be back with you all again.

May allah bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

MIMIKO'S VICTORY AND THE FALL OF ACN AND TINUBU'S EMPIRE.

Many Nigerians fall for the media story sold by Acn as the integration of southwest by capturing Ondo state as the remaining state yet to be captured by Acn in the southwest region, they thought that the Acn is interested to capture Ondo because of the extension of its dominion, but is not the reason.

The main reason for the desperation of Tinubu and the Acn is the fact that, the victory of Mimiko would destroy the Acn in the region. With the emergence of Mimiko for the second term office,ACN MAY NEVER WIN ANY STATE IN THE 2015 COMING ELECTION.

In wishing Governor Olusegun Mimiko (IROKO)a happy birthday, l can only make reference to the PUNCH editorial of September 23, 2012 titled " FG's largesse for pregnant women" which stated inter alia -"Perhaps, the Ondo state Government's initiative on tackling infant and maternal mortality should be emulated. Confronted by high incidence of maternal mortality on assumption of office, Governor Olusegun Mimiko initiated what he called the "Abiye safe Motherhood Project" and special mother-and-child hospitals to attend to expectant mothers and their babies free. Different reports about the programme indicate that it has been a success so far. For instance, out of about 12,676 deliveries recorded between October 2009 when the programme took off, and June this year, 11,832 women were said to have been delivered naturally while 1,844 were reportedly delivered by Caesarean Section.
The main strategy the State has adopted is to tackle the main causes of maternal mortality. It ma...
kes sure the women no more have difficulties in seeking, reaching and receiving health care. It also trained health rangers who in turn trained community health extension workers to always monitor the pregnant women until they give birth. Sometimes, the health workers visit them in their homes. While the pregnant women are given toll-free mobile phones for easier contacts, the health facilities are equipped with customized motorcycles, tricycles and ambulances for easy evacuation of any pregnant woman having problems".

This is the same State that the Jagaban said yesterday at their rally in Ondo State that " Mimiko has not done anything in three and a half years". Are we talking of the same Ondo state? Happy birthday IROKO.

The Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has described his political opponents who have been taking time out to criticize the Caring Heart programmes of his administration as enemies of the poor masses. This was just as he commissioned the Igbotako General Hospital which his administration rebuilt having been scrapped by the immediate past administration Dr Olusegun Agagu amidst cheers from the people of the community.

Governor Mimiko stated this on at the weekend while addressing a political rally at Ode-Aye during his campaign tour of Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state as part of his re-election bid at the October 20 governorship election.

According to the Governor, all the programmes of the Labour Party (LP) led administration were designed to meet the needs of the people of the state with a view to transforming the lives of the ordinary masses in the State.

Citing some of the programmes, which he noted had impacted positively on the lives of the people; Governor Mimiko explained that the Mother and Child Hospitals initiative for instance, had put an end to the death of women in pregnancy. He added that the series of Health Centers located in all parts of the state had also been meeting the health care delivery services demands of the rural communities.

The Governor further explained that his administration embarked on the construction of Mega schools as a strategy to laying solid foundation for the education of the children and also to create an enabling learning environment for the children of the poor and rich. He also disclosed that the modern markets located at all parts of the state had promoted economic activities among market women and made them more productive and useful to their families.

Dr. Mimiko who said that he would never be discouraged in his determination to make Ondo State a modern state in the country, promised to make more sacrifices toward improving the living standard of the people of the state.

The campaign tour later turned to project commissioning blight as the governor was led to various projects executed by the Okitipupa Local Government and the State Ministry of Community Development and Cooperative Services.

Among projects commissioned by the Governor were a Police Station at Ode-Aye and Ikoya, built by the Local Government, a modern market at Ode-Aye, General Hospital at Igbotako and Erekiti Town Hall constructed by the state government.

Governor Mimiko also distributed a sum of N2million to various market women groups under the Micro credit loan programme initiated by his administration to empower market women in the state.

PoliticsWas There Any Pact Between Mimiko And Acn? by bilms(op): 1:40pm On Oct 03, 2012
WAS THERE ANY PACT BETWEEN MIMIKO AND ACN?

Absolutely no; directly, indirectly or tangentially, I was not involved in any pact. Absolutely no, and there couldn't have been any pact. I was virtually chased out of the PDP. I don't have anything against Baba, he used to be my boss, but he made it absolutely clear that he did not want me to contest in the election. He did not hide it, he said it publicly everywhere. I was virtually chased out of the PDP. Four months to election, I had no party, ACN was there as an option, but I didn't go there.

The existing parties were there, ANPP and the rest of them, at least parties that had structures but we went for a new political party, absolutely unknown in this place, four months to the election. In four months we built it, built structure, built candidates who contested in the elections and eventually we won.

Now, what would be the justification for saying that I want to go to ACN? The question should be, why did I not go to ACN in the first instance after I left Abuja?

There is nothing like that. They know that there was no such thing. But the more ridiculous aspect of it is that they were even specific, that I gave a specific time within a month that I would join the party. People are free to dream big dreams, but there will be nothing like that.

I've never gone back on any pact in my career and I'm very careful in making a pact. I've said it; there are areas of shared beliefs, I believe in true federalism. I believe that Nigeria should be restructured along that path. I believe in devolution of power in a true federal state. I believe in heavy and massive investment in education as a tool to future development. We all grew up in the Awo tradition of democratisation of access to education and health. I still believe it. For me, it is not just a theoretical belief. I've translated it into reality. I believe in agriculture as a tool for mass employment, I've taken it away from theoretical realm to establish farm cities, three of them in three years. So, why should we be fighting if we all share these values?

If all these efforts are about development, then why should we be fighting? But if it is about the ego of individuals, who want to exercise a hegemonic dominion over South-West, it will be minus Ondo State. Olusegun Mimiko

NIGERIA @ 52: A RARE GESTURE OF NATURE
Nigeria is my country and I am not only proud of it, I am also confidence that we can never be subjected in the world.

52 years ago, some young Nigerians like me and other youths in the Nigeria of today from the North an South, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo and others, came together and make a decision.
After making this decision between themselves, they all took a step and added several others steps to it. The addition of steps was accompanied with actions, thinking’s, handwork and the eventual result of the independent which was taken on the October 1st, 1960.

Point of note for the record: Contrary to some claims, that Nigeria got its independent on a plata of gold, but Nigeria did not get its independent on a plata of gold, it got it based on superior instincts of our founding fathers.

What other countries fought war to get, our founding father used dialogue, what others shed blood to acquire, we used negotiation. Only a superior brain wins more in negotiation and dialogue, this is the foundation of true greatness and indeed, Nigeria is a rare gesture of nature to have such combination of qualities.

Colonial master don’t ever give people independent for free, you either earn it by war or by words, only those who lacks enough skills to earn their by words resolved to fight war.
Some people still could not see any reason to celebrate our anniversary; this is due to the fact that many things are still not the way it supposed to be. But what they fail to realize is that, the fact that Nigeria was able to provide you and I is a source of celebration. A country which has me and you has hope, yes it has future. What we are celebrating is not our failures; it is not our unfulfilled promises, but our available asset which is capable of taking us to the promise land. Nigeria did have its areas of challenges, but failure is not a bad thing, only those who had previously failed truly excel.

You may have given up the hope on Nigeria, but i am sure that you have not given up the hope on your ability to succeed. If so, your success is a success for Nigeria and provided you still haven’t given up on yourself, you have not given up on Nigeria.

My fellow Nigerians, the time of blaming our past is over and blaming our differences is not an excuse.
What we must all realize as Nigerians is the fact that we are so lucky to have each other, we are so lucky to be blacks, we are so lucky to be blessed and we are so lucky to be placed in a country where greatness can not be denied. Yes, the greatness of Nigeria can not be denied and that is your greatness.

We are so lucky to be Nigerians, a country of people who makes something out of nothing, a country of people surviving and making greatness spread across the world, a country of people that survives in every aspects of life and a country of people who survive in any and every situation.
A country with enormous blessings in human and capital, even though our potentials still is yet to be released, we must not relent in our quest for fulfillment.

I urged the Nigerian government to come to term and align with the reality that, The Government years after years have been failing Nigerians. It must accept its failure and set a new path for progress. The Nigerian people must also accept the fact that, it is not playing it role well enough and should change for better.

The insecurity in our land must be tackled by all; achieving progress can be hindered without security. Since achieving peace is not like poetry where we write out our expressions; neither does it has a formula for solving like an equation. The path we have to trail in achieving peace is the sincerity of purpose. When we wish, lets wish for peace, when we talk, let’s talk for peace, and when we act, let’s act for peace.
On several occasions, people have been enjoyed to use dialogue as a means of negotiation not violence, but what makes dialogue a means of peaceful ending is listening to the voice of the people. When the crying voice of the people went unheard for too long, the people have no other means than rebellion to make their demands.

The simple truth is clear, peace cannot be purchased. Peace can never reign under oppression where powerful people in the society violate others. What can reign under this atmosphere is silence, but not for a very long time because the people will always rebel. Peace would not come to the world on a Plata of gold; we must work and make sacrifices for it like the opportunity cost.

Some people feel pity for Nigeria, but Nigeria doesn’t deserve pity instead, it deserves respect.

Despite the hard life some of us are faced with every day, the violation and hunger, the diseases and oppression, We still find means to be happy. Though, the smiles in the faces of the Nigerian people are not derived from the provision of our governments or the relief of humanitarians, but in the vision of the Nigerian's greatness.
