Congratulations to the best and most successful football club in the world. Hala Madrid!

This is a welcome development. Thunder will fire any sort of maladministration and corruption awaiting the resuscitated national carrier. This should not be celebrated as a special thing form Buhari presidency, but must be commended as meeting a simple deliverable of a government. |
The record 13th and 3rd successive UEFA Champions League trophy in the offing. Hala Madrid!

Auntie Kemi will not stop amazing us. Why was she ranting, if I may ask? Because I have not seen justification for her outburst in her post... ![]() |
This is scarcely rare in Nigeria political space. |
Yes, it must not be business as usual. It's high time we do away with mediocre. Religion and ethnicity have however, been promoting mediocrity. I don't give a damn, where you come from or what faith you subscribe to rather I am interested in prosperity for all. Guys, we can make it better for all Nigerians. |

An Ilorin Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a 32-year-old banker, Oyeyemi Mashood, in prison for allegedly defrauding customers of N2,972,000. The Chief Magistrate, Kudirat Yahaya, ordered that the accused be remanded at the Mondala Prison, Ilorin, and adjourned the case until June 5, for further mention. The accused is standing trial on three counts of criminal breach of trust, cheating and misappropriation to which he pleaded not guilty. Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Mathew Ologbonsaye, told the court that the suspect diverted the customers’ deposits to MMM, Twinkas and Lupas Ponzi schemes, without the consent of the bank management or the customers. Ologbonsaye said the suspect was arrested on May 9, following the report by the Auditor of Fidelity Bank, Taiwo Branch, Ilorin, which showed that he diverted the customers’ money to his own use. He said that the bank discovered the fraud as a result of complaints from the bank customers – Chioeze Ventures and Chijoke-Ife Noble – that their account did not reflect the amount deposited in the recent time. The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 312, 322 and 309 of the Penal Code and urged the court to remand the accused in prison pending the outcome of investigation. http://punchng.com/court-remands-banker-in-prison-over-alleged-n2-9m-fraud/ |

Zinedine Zidane has told Liverpool his Real Madrid team are hungrier than ever to win the Champions League, despite clinching the title in three of the last four years. Real are gunning for an unprecedented third consecutive success in the competition on Saturday while Liverpool have reached the final for the first time since 2007. “No one can tell us we are less hungry,” Zidane said. “I can’t speak for our opponents but we want to stress we will always have the same motivation, the same as always, no one can tell us we are less hungry than the rest. “We are Madrid and despite what we have, we always want more, and we will give everything to get even better.” Real’s experience at the deep end of the Champions League dwarfs that of this Liverpool team, who do not have a single player to have made it this far before. Zidane also has his own personal achievements to draw upon, having won the most coveted prize in club football three times as a player and manager combined. “It’s true I lived 18 years as a player inside the changing room, with many coaches, with many players, with just as much ego as me,” Zidane said. “I know the changing room and I know the mind of a player and that is an important thing for me, but it is not the only thing. “I am not the best tactician, but I have other things – passion, motivation – and those are worth much more.” Some have billed this weekend’s showdown as a contest between Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah but when asked if he would swap Ronaldo for the Liverpool forward, Zidane simply replied: “No.” On Ronaldo’s influence on the final, Zidane said: “The most possible. He is the best so it will be the maximum.” Zidane would offer no clues as to his starting line-up in Kiev but he did ackowledge the excellent form of Gareth Bale, who has scored five goals in his last four starts. “He is playing very well, he has scored many goals recently,” Zidane said. “Not only that but he has been very consistent. He has not played so much, but the last three games he has played he has played well.” http://punchng.com/zidane-real-as-desperate-as-ever-to-win-the-champions-league/

Arsenal have gone cold on Mikel Arteta at the eleventh hour and are set to give the job to Unai Emery. Club officials met with Arteta last week and by Friday the former Arsenal captain believed he was going to get the job. But Arsenal began to go quiet over the weekend and then former Paris Saint-Germain boss Emery flew into London for talks on Monday. Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis is now in negotiations with Emery and the 46-year-old Spaniard is now expected to be unveiled in the next 48 hours. It is an incredible blow for Arteta - who is on Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff at Manchester City - as he is believed to have interviewed well and discussed a contract. But the worry was the fear of backlash from Arsenal fans about an inexperienced appointment and now they have done a last minute U-turn on Arteta. Arsenal had prepared to offer Arteta a three year deal worth £4m-a-year with a one year break clause and the Spaniard was keen to take the job. Arsenal insist that it is not a case of last minute cold feet and that they wanted to speak to all of the candidates before making an appointment. They also insist that Emery has been spoken to before although the ex-Sevilla boss was quoted last week insisting that there had been no contact from Arsenal. The 46-year-old Spaniard is available after leaving Paris St-Germain where he won one Ligue 1 title and four domestic cups in two seasons in charge. Previously he guided Sevilla to three Europa League triumphs. Emery's English is not completely fluent but the language barrier is not expected to be a problem.

The Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday arrested the proprietor and principal of Metorite Standard School, Ayetoro, for allegedly tying up two pupils of the school to ‘crosses’ and flogging them with a horsewhip. The proprietor, Afolayan Joseph, and the yet-to-be-identified principal were said to have tied the pupils for allegedly coming late to school. PUNCH Metro learnt that a policeman, identified only as Livinus, who witnessed the incident and cautioned the men, was beaten up. Joined by other residents, the policeman was said to have succeeded in getting the suspects arrested. Our correspondent learnt that the suspects were taken to the Itele Police Station. The policeman, who is attached to the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit, told our correspondent that the pupils were tied to the wooden crosses in the open. He said, “I was going to work this morning (Wednesday) when I saw some cars parked by the roadside. I discovered that it was because of some pupils that were tied to crosses. When I saw it, I parked and went to meet the proprietor of the school. I introduced myself as a policeman and told him to untie the pupils. He refused, saying there was nothing anybody could tell him that would make him to release them. “When I tried to untie the pupils, the proprietor and his teachers beat me up. Before I returned from picking handcuffs from my car, they had grabbed a friend who was with me, Omaje iremi, and beaten him up with a horsewhip. “I entered the school – with the help of some neighbours who gathered around – to arrest him, but he refused to follow me. I then called the Divisional Police Officer of the Itele Police Station and he sent some policemen to the school, who took everybody to the station.” The DPO of Itele Police Station, who declined to give his name, said the proprietor did not like the policeman’s attempt to correct him. The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrests of the two men, as well as a teacher in the school. He said, “It is a barbaric incident because I don’t see any offence that a secondary school pupil will commit that will make someone to tie him or her and be flogging them in public. “They have been arrested and will be taken to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department. “The act is no longer a corrective measure; it is a barbaric act and it will not be allowed in this 21st century.” http://punchng.com/ogun-proprietor-principal-tie-pupils-to-crosses-for-lateness/
