According to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Daniel Adeyileka (pictured above) is the youngest pilot in Nigeria.

He was born in 1995 in Newcastle, England and had his primary and secondary education in Scotland then came back to Nigeria to do his A-levels. At 17, he proceeded to Delta Flight school in Texas, USA, where he obtained his Private Pilot License (PPL) and his International General Certificate of Secondary Education. He is currently a First Officer.

I’m not afraid of arrest, says Aregbesola, the APC candidate and incumbent governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola yesterday declared that he was not afraid of the alleged plot by the leadership of the PDP and the police to arrest him and some of his associates ahead of the election.

Addressing APC supporters at the mega rally held at Unity High School, Ejigbo, Governor Aregbesola said that all the chieftains of APC in the state are ready for the police arrest adding that the arrest of APC leadership will not deter people from casting their votes for the party. The mega rally was also addressed by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State.

Aregbesola charged the people of the state to ensure that they cast their votes even if he was arrested by the police saying that his arrest is meaningless without their votes.

He also called on the people not to be intimidated by the threat of arrest by the police, stressing that we are available for police arrest if that is what the PDP led federal government wants to do with the deployment of heavy soldiers and other security operatives to the state.
According to him, “If am arrested, my only charge to you is that don’t be afraid. Just go out and cast your vote. Police arrest is meaningless. We are ready for them. We are not running away. We are available and we are ready to lead our people to the promise land.

Governor Aregbesola said that his administration has just kicked off it ignition and it will not stop until 2018 when his government will ensure that all dilapidated schools are no more and poverty vanished in the state.

Earlier, Governor Abiola Ajimobi had enjoined the people of the state to ensure that they return Aregbesola to office for the completion of the on-going infrastructural and development projects.

This rival went diabolical to make sure the pregnant woman, my mother, did not give birth to me. And after staying 18months in my mother’s womb, they made some findings and it was revealed that my mother had to beg this rival for me to come to life.
Getting to my mother’s rival, she said they had to look for a goanna.

Goanna is an animal called Aworinwo in Yoruba language but typical Yorubas call Goanna ‘Antar’. So, they used the Antar or goanna to make concoction for my mother. After some hours, I came to life and my mother decided to name me ‘Antar’ after the animal”.

At least 11 parents of the abducted Chibok girls have died Since the mass abduction of the schoolgirls by terrorist group three months ago, and their hometown, Chibok, is under siege from the militants, residents report.

Seven fathers of kidnapped girls were among 51 bodies brought to Chibok hospital after an attack on the nearby village of Kautakari this month, said a health worker who insisted on anonymity for fear of reprisals by the extremists.
At least four more parents have died of heart failure, high blood pressure and other illnesses that the community blames on trauma due to the mass abduction 100 days ago, said community leader Pogu Bitrus, who provided their names.

“One father of two of the girls kidnapped just went into a kind of coma and kept repeating the names of his daughters, until life left him,” said Bitrus.
Chibok is cut off because of frequent attacks on the roads that are studded with burned out vehicles. Commercial flights no longer go into the troubled area and the government has halted charter flights.
Through numerous phone calls to Chibok and the surrounding area, The Associated Press has gathered information about the situation in the town where the students were kidnapped from their school.

More danger is on the horizon.
Boko Haram is closing in on Chibok, attacking villages ever closer to the town. Villagers who survive the assaults are swarming into the town, swelling its population and straining resources. A food crisis looms, along with shortages of money and fuel, said community leader Bitrus.
On the bright side, some of the young women who escaped are recovering, said a health worker, who insisted on anonymity because he feared reprisals from Boko Haram. Girls who had first refused to discuss their experience, now are talking about it and taking part in therapeutic singing and drawing — a few drew homes, some painted flowers and one young woman drew a picture of a soldier with a gun last week.
Girls who said they would never go back to school now are thinking about how to continue their education, he said.
Counseling is being offered to families of those abducted and to some of the 57 students who managed to escape in the first few days, said the health worker. He is among 36 newly trained in grief and rape counseling, under a program funded by USAID.
All the escapees remain deeply concerned about their schoolmates who did not get away.

A presidential committee investigating the kidnappings said 219 girls still are missing. But the community says there are more because some parents refused to give the committee their daughters’ names, fearing the stigma involved.
Boko Haram filmed a video in which they threatened to sell the students into slavery and as child brides. It also showed a couple of the girls describing their “conversion” from Christianity to Islam.
At least two have died of snake bites, a mediator who was liaising with Boko Haram told AP two months ago. At that time he said at least 20 of the girls were ill — not surprising given that they are probably being held in an area infested with malarial mosquitoes, poisonous snakes and spiders, and relying on unclean water from rivers.
Most of the schoolgirls are still believed to be held in the Sambisa Forest — a wildlife reserve that includes almost impenetrably thick jungle as well as more open savannah. The forest borders on sand dunes marking the edge of the Sahara Desert. Sightings of the girls and their captors have been reported in neighboring Cameroon and Chad.
In Chibok, the town’s population is under stress.
“There are families that are putting up four and five other families,” local leader Bitrus said, adding that food stocks are depleted. The Ebonyi State House of Assembly on Monday impeached the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Nwazunku and elected a new Speaker, Hon. Helen Nwaobasi, representing Abakaliki South State Constituency. He was impeached over allegations of gross misconduct, incompetence and corruption.
According to reports, the members of the House re-instated three members who were on suspension before moving to impeach the Speaker.
The member representing Ezza South state Constituency Hon. Chris Usulor moved the motion for his impeachment while the Minority Leader and member Representing Ezza North West, Hon. Enyi Enyi seconded the motion.
A new speaker, Hon Helen Nwaobosi was immediately elected.

Ex-Minister of Petroleum Rilwanu Lukman died this morning in Austria at the age of 75 years.

Alhaji Lukman was a renowned engineer who held several ministerial positions in Nigeria before becoming Secretary General of OPEC from 1995 to 2000. He was appointed Minister of Petroleum Resources by late President Yar’Adua in December 2008 and held the position until March 2010.

Lukman was made a Knight of the British Empire (KBE) in 1989 and Officer of the Legion d’Honneur of France in 1990, as well as being conferred with the First Class rank of the Order of the Liberator from the Republic of Venezuela. He was the first African ever to be honored with the Fellowship of the Imperial College, University of London. May his soul rest in peace…amen.

The hotel named DC Suites is located at Oke Awo street in Bako Estate after Mile 12. Part of the hotel was opened for the world cup but they are still putting finishing touches here and there.

The popular Nigerian playwright and poet, Professor Wole Soyinka celebrates his 80th birthday party at an uncommon venue, a forest.

The event graced by Ogun state Governor Ibikunle and other top dignitaries held at Ijegba Forest around Soyinka’s Forest Lodge in Abeokuta.

Wole Soyinka’s 80th birthday ceremony used the theme of a book titled forest of a thousand daemons written in Yoruba in 1938 and later translated into English by Wole Soyinka.

The Deputy Force PRO, Abayomi Shogunle Nigeria Police Force has this on Monday July 7, revealed that the body of Habib Olatunde , a bank manager of an undisclosed Nigerian bank, has been found two weeks and six days after he was declared missing by the police.

The Ogun State Police Command yesterday, confirm the arrest of a 21‑year‑old Tolani Ajayi, for allegedly killing his father, Charles Ajayi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, in the Redemption Camp along Lagos/Ibadan expressway . Tolani, a student of the Department of History and International Relations, Redeemer University.

According to PM News, the shattered body of Barrister Charles Ajayi, 60, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was recovered in a box at a nearby bush at Canaanland Street at the Redeemed Christian Church of God Camp, Km 46 Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The suspect who is a biological son of the slain lawyer was arrested same day in his fathers residence, at the scene of the incident, aroun 5:30 p.m. after the discovery of the corpse and Police preliminary findings. Continue…

Redemption Camp DPO, Olaiya Martins who led a team of detectives and some members of the community traced ground marks of the box from where it was dumped to the house of the suspect. The corpse was traced to the house of late Barr. Ajayi,where they met the suspect in a relaxed mood in the house.

Upon interrogation, the suspect who had earlier lied that his dad had gone on evangelism, however, confessed to the crime when he was taken to the Redemption Camp Divisional Headquarters.

He stated problem arose when his father confronted him for not responding to all the prayer points he raised, forcing his father to slap him. He said he went mad and went straight to the kitchen to pick up a knife to stab him and later a cutlass to cut his throat.

The exhibits including the knife and cutlass he used in killing his father had been recovered by the Police and the corpse of the SAN had been deposited at a morgue in Sagamu.

Ikemefuna Okoye, Commissioner of Police Ogun state has since sent a team of detectives led by the officer in charge of Homicide section of the Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran, Abeokuta to further investigate the murder.

Okoye sympathised with the family of the deceased, particularly his wife, who is also a legal practitioner and other children to take solace in the Lord. He admonished other members of the community in RCCG to be watchful, adding that, such incident will not occur again as the Command will improve on the synergy between the police and the Internal Security Operatives of the RCCG.

Castro and her girl friend are feared dead at a place close to the Ada estuary. Castro and his close friend and fellow hit maker, Asamoah Gyan of the black stars were weekending in the Ada area.

Castro and his girlfriend were on a jesky (Jet Ski) and she fell into the water.

Castro tried to save her and ended up drowning with her.

The two bodies are still being searched for.

A 33-year-old graduate of Tai Solarin University of Education, Oluwatosin Otaiku stabbed himself to death on Saturday, in Onikolobo area of Abeokuta Ogun state on Saturday after his fiancee, one Oluwatoyin Olaogun dumped him.

Narrating on how the incident happened: Friends and neighbors heard about his girlfriend Oluwatoyin’s decision to call off their relationship, they invited her over at their residence in Onikolobo area of Abeokuta to resolve the issue.

An eyewitness said Tosin had hidden a knife in his pocket during the mediation, which he eventually used to stab himself when he discovered that his fiancee was not ready to change her mind, despite the intervention of neighbours and friends.

“Tosin was immediately rushed to Mercy Hospital at Panseke from where he was referred to the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, but he died on the way to the hospital. It was a rude shock to me,”. “Come rain, come shine, Tosin would never be cowed by anybody and would never for any reason, change his decision.

A day to his death, he had called me to explain what was happening between him and the lady. We spoke for about 11 minutes and I agreed to visit the two of them the following day to settle the discord between them, only to receive a phone call that he had killed himself. I can’t still believe it. Why would Tosin take such a terrible decision? I can’t explain it,” he narrated.

“When we were in school at TASUED in Ijagun, a similar thing happened. But for God’s mercy on him, he would have died. He drank kerosene when Ope, a student of Polytechnic, Ibadan, whom he was dating then, broke up with him. If not for God and some of us who rallied to save him then, he would have died.

We were then living at Overcomers Hall, Imaweje, very close to Ijagun. Everybody was aware of that incident. You can check round to confirm this,”

Late Tosin was a motherless child from Odogbolu in Ogun state. He graduated from Tai Solarin University with a degree in Political Science back in 2010.

He worked as a managing director at a business centre in Onikolobo area of Abeokuta until his death.

Some weeks ago, popular Nollywood comic actor John Okafor a.k.a Mr Ibu was signed on by an online betting site, and now he has been named the face of digital terrestrial pay-TV, GOtv, and its brand ambassador in Nigeria.

Explaining the rationale behind the choice of the comic star, Elizabeth Amkpa, General Manager, GOtv Nigeria, said the company sought an individual that has a strong acceptance by a wide audience, and the actor fits in.

“Given John Okafor’s successes in Nollywood as Mr Ibu, his popularity is not limited to any particular geo-political zone in Nigeria. Mr Ibu has a strong emotional appeal among GOtv audiences and he is a star that the man next door can relate to,” Amkpa said.

The endorsement deal was signed recently and Okafor confirms that both parties are happy with the terms of the contract. He will feature in GOtv’s future commercials, make special guest appearances at GOtv launch events and promote the brand among GOtv’s grassroots audience, amongst other activities.

Mr. Ibu is versatile and remains a role model to many Nigerian comedians. He is known for his wit and considered to be one of Nigeria’s most talented comic characters.
