Fu Wengui, a young boy who was diagnosed with Congenital Scoliosis and an abnormal chest frame which made his neck grow extra three inches. Doctors say most necks have 7 vertebrae but 15 year old Chinese boy Fu Wengui has 10.

This causes him a lot of pain and makes it hard for Fu to walk. Congenital scoliosis is caused by the bones in the spine developing abnormally in the womb.

“He always causes a stir when he’s out. The vertebrae press on the nerves in his neck and make it difficult for him to walk.” his dad, Genyou said

Fortunately for Fu, after his situation was made public, a Beijing-based charity agreed to finance a procedure and treatment. He will have corrective surgery that will hopefully reduce the length of his neck and ease the discomfort.

A grieving younger brother got the shock of his life after he found his sibling ‘wriggling around’ inside a zipped-up body bag in a morgue in Brazil. 54 year old Valdelucio Goncalves was found alive inside a body bag after doctors declared him dead.
Doctors claimed the man had suffered “respiratory and multiple organ failure” and declared him dead a few hours after his family took him to the hospital on Saturday August 23rd. His family then took what they believed was his corpse to the morgue inside the Menandro de Farias General Hospital in Salvador, northeast Brazil. Rosdeep Adekoya, reportedly beat her son, Mikaeel Kular repeatedly two days before he died. The 34 years old mother have been jailed for 11 years for killing her son, who she savagely beat then left to die for two days during a family holiday in January.

After discovering his lifeless body on the floor of their Edinburgh home in Ferry Gait Crescent, she wrapped it in a duvet cover, put it in the suitcase and drove to Kirkcaldy, Fife, to hide it behind her sister’s house in Woodland.
Adekoya then reported her son missing to police authorities. In response, authorities conducted a rigorous 2-day search operation.
During investigations, it was discovered that she had inflicted fatal injuries on her son because she was angry at him for not feeling very well after a trip to Nando’s restaurant.
An autopsy revealed the cause of his death to be “blunt force abdominal trauma.” Kularis said to have sustained over 40 separate injuries on his body.
Investigations also revealed that Adekoya’s most recent internet searches before her son’s death were: “I find it hard to love my son”, “Why am I so aggressive with my son” and “Get rid of bruises”.
The 34-year-old mom was initially charged with murder; however, the charge was reduced to “culpable homicide,” which she is serving 11 years for.

Nigerian footballer Asisat Oshoala (pictured above) won the Golden Ball award as the best player of the 2014 Fifa U20 World Cup.

Asisat Oshoala was voted the Most Valuable Player/Best Player at the 2014 FIFA U20 World Cup in Canada. She was awarded the Golden Ball award and Golden Boot having scored seven goals and provided two assists.

French midfielder Griedge Mbock-Bathy was awarded the Silver Ball while her compatriot Claire Lavogez, was the Bronze Ball winner.

Meanwhile, the Falconets lost 0-1 to their German counterparts in the Finals of the World Cup played in Montreal, Canada yesterday. Well done to our girls. We didn’t win the tournament but they played their hearts out!

16-year old Temidayo Joseph (pictured left) committed suicide in Essex north-east of Londonfew hours after collecting his GSCE result, according to report the young man took his own life because he was afraid of bad judgement from his parents.

Though police are yet to confirm the official cause of Temidayo’s death, his friend said he was heartbroken after collecting his exam results from Ockendon Academy near Thurrock in Essex on Thursday.

He reportedly left the school immediately without speaking a word before his lifeless body was found in a wooded area around the school with self-inflicted wounds.

His school has released a statement about his death;

“It is with great sadness we have to tell you of the death of one of our students, 16-year-old Temidayo Joseph.We wish to extend our deepest sympathy for Dayo’s family, friends and the whole school community at this difficult time.To help people come to terms with this tragic event, the academy will offer its fullest support and counselling.Of course our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.The Academy will be open on Saturday 23rd August from 9am to 11am for those members of our community who wish to pay their respects to Dayo Joseph.”

Parents need to understand that you can’t judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree. The pressure of being African has hit him hard.

When you find out something and it doesn’t hit you at first. And then all of a sudden you crack… Very sad!

The Ogun State police command have arrested 37-year old Pastor Segun Alawode for allegedly molesting a 32-year old lady in the church premises. Segun Alawode a senior Pastor of the Eternal Sacred Order C & S Church Sabo, in Odogbolu area of the State.

The pastor’s alleged dirty act is a big shock to his church members:
The woman said that the pastor was in a prayer session with her when he asked her to hold on to some candle stick and suddenly he forcefully pulled off her clothes before and eventually had carnal knowledge of her in the church.

The anti-crime team attached to Odogbolu Division of Ogun State Command apprehended the pastor when the victim and her relations stormed the Police Division to notify the Divisional Police Officer of his misdeeds and to seek justice through the police.

The state’s police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, said “the matter is currently at the Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the Department of Criminal Investigation, Abeokuta and medical reports so far received on the matter confirmed that the pastor actually committed the offence and he has confessed to the crime. The matter will soon be charged to court.”

Boko Haram , is said to have attacked the villages of Durwa and Maforo in the Marte District killing 10 people.

Emerging reports from Marte District, Borno State, indicate that Boko Haram gunmen attacked the villages of Durwa and Maforo on Sunday, killing and slaughtering 10 civilians.

Usman Ari, a resident of Durwa, claimed that the gunmen arrived on motorcycles and rounded up a number of people, singling out six recent arrivals from Krenuwa village who had apparently escaped a bloody Boko Haram raid a month ago.

Citing continued violence in the area, Ari vowed to leave Durwa along with others in search of a safer environment in the Borno State capital, Maiduguri.

Both villages, Durwa and Maforo, are located in the Marte district, an area that the government regained control of earlier this year after losing it to insurgents late last year.

Borno State is currently under a state of emergency. Boko Haram has claimed thousands of lives and displaced over 400,000 citizens recently.

Nuhu Ribadu, a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has dumped the opposition All Progressives Congress [APC] and joined the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP].

Mr. Ribadu was the presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2011 and until his defection yesterday considered one of the presidential prospects of the APC in the 2015 presidential election.

A member of the executive committee of the PDP in Bako, Mr. Ribadu’s ward in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa state, told Premium Times that Ribadu has been registered as a member of the party and given a party membership card.

The source asked not to be named because he was not authorised to disclose the development to journalists.”

Israel and the Palestinians have begun a fresh five-day ceasefire in Gaza, agreed at the end of a three-day truce.

As the ceasefire was announced, Israel launched air strikes in response to alleged rocket fire from Gaza.

There were no more reports of violence overnight, and the two sides were expected to continue indirect talks mediated by Egypt in Cairo.

The Israelis launched a military operation in Gaza on July 8 to stop militant attacks from Gaza.

Hamas, which controls Gaza and is involved in the Cairo talks, has denied its members launched rockets at Israel on Wednesday night.

Israeli military spokesman Peter Lerner said on Twitter: “No need to jump to conclusions. I don’t know who launched 10pm (19:00GMT) rocket at Israel.”

There was no immediate report of casualties from either side.

Palestinian sources say the truce extension will create a window for further negotiations.

But the BBC’s Kevin Connolly in Gaza says future talks are likely to be forbiddingly difficult.

Officials from both sides have been communicating their demands through Egyptian intermediaries in Cairo.

The talks are aimed at finding a more durable solution to the conflict in Gaza.

The Palestinian side wants the blockade on Gaza to be lifted, while Israel wants the territory to be fully disarmed.

Israel has indicated it may agree to relax parts of the blockade, Egyptian and Palestinian sources said.

Other proposals under discussion include reducing the “no-go” zone in Gaza, and increasing the offshore fishing zone for Gaza fishermen.

Egyptian mediators have proposed that discussion of other demands, such as the opening of a seaport in Gaza and the return of the remains of two dead Israeli soldiers, be postponed.

The widow of late Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian who brought Ebola into Nigeria, has defended her husband’s decision to travel to Africa’s most populous country, saying he did so in desperate search for a country with better healthcare system than his own country.

In an article published earlier today, TMZ Liberia Magazine quoted Decontee Sawyer, who is a radio host in New York, as explaining that Mr. Sawyer had no trust in the healthcare system in Liberia and had possibly headed to Nigeria with the hope of receiving better treatment for his ailment.
Mrs. Sawyer shared her thoughts on her Facebook profile from which TMZ Liberia sourced it for publication.

“I’ve read other reports in other papers (not the New York Times) about Patrick’s “recklessness.” I get where they’re coming from, and they certainly have the right to feel the way they do. However, as Patrick’s widow, I would like to shed some light on this from another perspective. One that only I, his wife, would know,” she wrote.

“I knew Patrick better than anybody else (including himself). He had told me many times in the past how much he didn’t trust the Liberian healthcare system. He would tell me about how a person would get checked in for one thing, and get misdiagnosed and get the wrong treatment as a result. On top of that, Patrick was a clean freak, and told me how filthy a lot of the hospitals were.

“He didn’t tell me this, but I know in my heart of hearts that Patrick was determined to get to Nigeria by all means because he felt that Nigeria would be a place of refuge. He has expressed to me many times in the past that he felt passionately about helping to be a part of strengthening Liberia’s healthcare system, but he knew it wasn’t there yet, and he wouldn’t want to take a chance with his life because a lot of people depended on him… Patrick had a passion for life, and he wouldn’t have wanted his to end. So, I bet anything that he was thinking, if I could only get to Nigeria, a way more developed country than Liberia, I would be able to get some help. How ironic.”

Many Nigerians, and even Liberians, condemned Mr Sawyer for traveling to Nigeria despite knowing that he was carrying Ebola virus before embarking on the trip. Some Nigerians on social media have described him as a “biological terrorist” arguing that he came into the country deliberately to spread the disease.

On Monday in Abuja, President Goodluck Jonathan described Mr Sawyer’s decision to travel to Nigeria as pure “madness” and “craziness.”

“Sawyer that brought this Ebola to Nigeria; his sister died of Ebola. And he started acting somehow, his country asked him not to leave the country, let them observe him, but the crazy man decided to leave and found his way here,” President Jonathan said.

In her post, Mrs. Sawyer wrote that the fact that her husband avoided contact with others at the James Sprigg Payne’s Airport in Monrovia as revealed by airport CCTV footage proved he didn’t set out to infect others with the disease and perhaps his actions were that of a dying man in desperate search for help.

More than half a million people in Gaza have been rendered homeless, as the war between Israel and Palestine reached 28 days. Pictured above is a new born baby – with hospital tags still attached – wounded by shrapnel. The baby who already lost his mother, died two days after this photo was taken.
At least 1,700 Palestinians have been killed while 69 Israelis have been killed. Shelters full of children in Gaza have been bombed, medical supplies have run out, many hospitals damaged and medics are unable to go to work. Many UN facilities sheltering displayed Palestinians, especially women and children have been hit, killing so many little children in the city.

The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been going on for decades but this particular one started on July 17th after Gaza attacked Israel with rockets following failed peace negotiations. Israel replied with both air and ground invasion of Gaza City….and the world is just watching.

The deadly Ebola virus has killed Dr Sheik Umar Khan, and three nurses. The Sierra Leonean doctor who has treated over 100 Ebola victim.

Dr Sheik Umar Khan, who was hailed as a national hero for disregarding his own health and helping sick patients, died on July 29th from the disease after being diagnosed with the virus last week. He contacted the virus despite wearing protective gear when treating patients.

In an interview last month, the 39yr old doctor had expressed fears for his life because of his constant contact with Ebola patients.

“I am afraid for my life. Health workers are prone to the disease because we are the first port of call for somebody who is sickened by the disease. Even with the full protective clothing you put on, you are at risk” He told Reuters

His death comes days after a senior doctor at Liberia’s largest hospital, Samuel Brisbane, died on Saturday at an Ebola treatment centre in Monrovia. 3 nurses working in the same Ebola treatment centre alongside Khan also died from the disease last week. Several other medics have been infected.
