Teamie we hoping o.... Not bought things aside the two things I've bought. I don't know but I feel I don't want to know the sex of this baby, I wanna be surprised after delivery. So I'm gonna get gender nueral stuffs. What do August mama think

Not gotten any as well, hopefully the lockdown is over soon. You can get gender neutral stuff but try to find the sex so you can get nice things. Your options are not limited if you know the sex.

Ma bi layo l’Oluwa wi

We sang this church every Sunday we had our pregnant women meeting. I’m not Yoruba, but I think it means:

“God has declared that I’ll give birth in joy”
“God has said that I’ll give birth in joy”
“I’ll give birth in Joy, I’ll give birth in joy”
“God has said that I’ll give birth in joy”

I’ll try not to make this BS part 2 of mama Beyedew’s BS cheesy
So my baby’s due date was 15th March(as speculated by the 2 hospitals I used) but the date came and passed and so my doctor and I set up for us to induce labour on Friday, 20th March.

Got to the hospital Friday evening and was told that labour would be induced the next day Saturday, I was then given a bed space. Very early Saturday morning, the doctor came in, and I was induced around 5:30am. I started feeling mild contractions around 6:30am. I kept timing it till proper contraction kicked off sometime around 8am. That was when reality set in!

As at this time, I was 3cm gone. So I knew I still had a long way to go. By the way, checking how far one has dilated is not as easy as it is said o. I’ve always been scared of penetration (please don’t look at me like what kind of penetration brought you here undecided ) I believe only the D should go in there. 5 fingers? Mbanu!

The doctor came to check me again by 11am and I was still 3cm+ gone. I wanted to lose my mind. It was hard to believe that I was in excruciating pain and I wasn’t making huge progress as such. By 1pm, I was in another world. I kept screaming “Lord have mercy o”, “Oh my God”, “Father , come through for me o”, “Mummy o”, “Lord, I’m tired” My mother in-law will tell me “No, say Lord give me the strength”

I noticed that while I was in deep contractions, I would fall asleep for a few seconds, and even snore as well till the contraction hits again. This went on back to back. I would call my mother in-law to massage my back while the contraction was hitting me hard.

This went on till the doctor came to check me by 4pm and said I was 7cm gone, but since my water had not broken, they would have to rupture it themselves. The only food I had had at that time was very light pap and one small portion of moi moi. My husband got me jollof rice but I think I ate 4 spoons alone. So I was still hungry but food was the least of my problems.

8cm gone, and I was already having the urge to push. I was encouraged to hold on. By this time, I was grabbing and pulling everything my hand could reach. My mother in-law was still massaging my back as each contraction hits. She had sore arms that day.

Finally 10cm, around 5pm and I was given the green light with some rules. Push when the next contraction hits, , spread your legs, hold your legs like this, raise your head to look at your navel etc.

4 pushes and my baby was out giving me some tears. I heard her scream and I had never felt more fulfilled.

I was stitched and the midwife cleaned me up. My husband and mother in-law came to check me. We teased each other about my baby’s looks, and I sent him for food. I was with the midwife alone now, she helped me stand up to my feet that was when trouble set in!

I realized I was dizzy, and I quickly told her. She helped me sit and I think she asked “Do you feel better?” Can’t remember, cos I blacked out. I don’t know for how long, but I came to hearing the voice of my mother in-law crying and praying with so much sorrow in her voice in deep Urhobo. I opened my eyes, and I saw about 5 doctors in front of me, including the midwife. They kept tapping me mildly and saying “Mrs xxxxxxx, how do you feel now?” And I responded. I was taken back to theatre, and operated. I lost a lot of blood and took a pint of blood and another the next day.

At the end, I give God the glory. My husband who was always forming “I be street boy”. The man cried that day grin

There you go mamas; my Birth Story. I pray yours come easier kiss

Congratulations , thank God for life

BS
Part 3

I came here to announce the birth of my baby, sent pictures to friends and even received some calls; feeling cool and nice and in control lol

Unknown to me, there was a gang up. One of the nurses came in and replaced my drip and I started feeling funky, asked her what she gave me and she said she added something to help

me sleep. I told her she shouldn’t have and I passed out while saying it lol.

Reports from my siblings, backed up with voice recordings the next day suggested that I slept but I wasn’t really asleep. I kept chiming in in their conversation, telling my sister to use qtip to clean baby’s nose and to cover his hands with mitten, even greeted visitors that came that night lol

The next day, I was floating and feeling cool. My sis was a whole lot of help, taking care of baby while I slept like I hadn’t slept in 5 years and husband was joggling work and school run for DD

The next day when I came to, I was eager to move around. I needed the cathether out!! I got off the bed by 2pm on the 4th and even tried breastfeeding because Mr. Baby kept spitting up after every formula feed. I saw that my milk already came in so it was bye-bye formula. Hopefully he doesn’t reject formula at 6 months too

At the end of the day, I was thankful my doctor didn’t listen to me at all. The last time he did and I almost paid with my life, Bp wonderfully shot up to 250 that night and my heart almost stopped. Then after I was discharged, I had bad water retention up to 4 weeks post partum, had drainage from my incision for 6 weeks, my incision was still open on the left side till the 7th week. I had bad panic attack for many months anytime I remembered what I went through. But now, I’m 3 weeks postpartum and I’m feeling like my old self, doing things I used to do though with caution, incision is healed and difficult to detect, vigilante is kinda real but not so bad, feet got swollen 3 days before my CS and it’s already back to normal now, and above all, DD accepted her brother and made this whole mum of two under two thing so easy. She’s always kissing him and wiping imaginary tears off his face with his bib or her hand, always eager to help out, runs to check what’s wrong with him when she hears him crying.

Second time is a charm for me. DD is her dad’s spitting image’, in complexion, same bent nails on same toes and fingers, same mannerisms. My boy has my complexion and some of my features even though he is starting to look like his dad, thanks to his very strong genes. I don’t mind even though e pain me.

God indeed makes all things beautiful in his time and he truly knows what’s best for us. I have never felt more complete and at peace. Now I’m looking forward to when they’re 4 and 2, fighting over toys and the silliest of things and reporting each other to me lol. or much later in life when they’re there for each other, coming through for one another and making me proud

This my boot has been locked in a box, buried and key thrown away into the ocean.

Thank you all for coming on this journey with me.
I hope I didn’t “west” your “thyme” tongue cheesy

Stay safe sisters
Happy and healthy bumping to my teamies and other waddling mamas, my prayers are with you at this time
I await the testimonies of all GTC mamas

Whenever I go for ultrasound, it’s always a week ahead. Should I stick to my normal week calculation or go with the scan calculated week?

For instance I’m in my 18 weeks but scan is saying I’d be 19weeks

Let me answer this question for the benefit of others wondering same.

I use a teaching hospital and just last week during my ANC, the consultant am seeing had about 9 medical students there in the room where i was attended to so they can also learn while attending to patients.

Then he asked them this question you asked " How many time is a pregnant woman supposed to take antimalarial during her pregnancy according to the new WHO standard and what antimalarial is usually prescribed?

Almost all of them chorus 2 times from the 2nd trimester (Even me self weh no study medicine knows its not correct from observation and record keeping in my previous pregnancy)

The senior doctor attending to me told them straight off they were wrong and not updated. They would have failed if it came out in the exam.

Her answer " According to the new WHO standard, A pregnant woman should be given IPT (antimalarial) from her 2nd trimester every 4 weeks apart till her delivery to prevent both mother and baby from maleria and other associated effects of maleria in new born. Hence, it is possible for a woman to take it 6, 7 or more time. What is usually prescribed is fansidar.

For your second question, i think its better for you to get a documented card for your TT injection so as to keep tab on your appointment as at when due.

Here is the back of my card to guide you, your 3rd dose should come 6 months after the second one (even if you have given birth, go and get it)

A woman should take a total of 5 doses in her reproductive age.

All this long story sef lipsrsealed undecided Hope it helps sha.

I haven’t received TT injection yet, should I be worried?

If you can tolerate pap and milk please take it. Agidi(eko) with steam veggies and dried fish, white rice with fresh tomatoes sliced on it or with veggies. Try bland foods cooked without salt and see if it stays down. Thick Milo and milk helps too. You can ask your doc for medication for the nausea if it will work for you.

Thank you so much, I appreciate

My fellows sisters.....I am writing this with a heavy heart and I know it is only miracle from God that can help my situation.

I went for scan and I was really expecting to see my baby but the man that did scan for me said he can see a gestational sac but no foetal pole yet.He concluded that maybe my body is taking its time to form the baby and I told him my last period was on Nov 21st and he said I shouldn't panic that some bodies take time in making the baby grow that I should just make sure I eat well and take folic acid daily and I shouldn't stress myself and I should repeat scan in four weeks time.

I am just sad at the moment....Though my husband is trying to cheer me up still I am not myself.

Put me in your prayers

Sis be positive and pray. He has perfect everything

First Timer, just thought to share my experience as I am very distraught ATM . I lost my first baby last Saturday 1st Feb at 21 weeks.

It started out like any other day the Thursday before . I went to the office , bought a few food stuff on my way home n then went home cooked , served my husband and then we got intimate .

Few hours later I had re occurring cramps (I have growing fibroids which isn't in the uretus) I assumed that was what caused the cramps but if was persistent from midnight to 6am my husband insisted we went to the hospital which we did and I found out I was contracting .

The Gynae gave me some injections n placed me on drip and the contractions continued and eventually stopped. On Friday morning I noticed I was bleeding non stop I asked for the gynaecologist and was told he doesn't work on weekends that he has travelled to visit his family (I was surprised Cz I was his patient and it was an emergency so expected him to atleast stay Friday to monitor me ) .

In the afternoon on Friday , I noticed my gestational sac hanging out of my vagina (that is the sac that holds the amniotic fluid and baby ) I was screaming in tears n shock . I was supposed to have my baby in the us so I called my Us doctor who insisted they carry out an emergency cerclage (stitching of the cervix) but the gynae was unavailable .

I asked to be transferred to another hospital n they said their ambulance was at their ikeja office , wow I was dumb founded Cz I couldn't stand n needed to be in laying position due to the sac sticking out. After some time the sac went back in . I kept on praying n crying as this was our first child.

I asked if they had incubator just incase the baby comes out they said no.

After much back n forth he sent a replacement gynae from their ikeja branch (I was in ikoyi branch ) who arrived at 8pm who advised that nothing could be done but observe and pray and he left back to ikeja branch instead of staying with me as I was an emergency patient.

I bled all night , my baby was a fighter his heart beat was still on functioning well all through the distress (every time I did scan in the past , drs always commented of how active my son was)

On Saturday morning I woke up to pee and felt like a balloon burst from inside me my water broke. Immediately called the nurses who checked the heart beat n the baby's heart rate was still perfect.

I went to the delivery room , my son head popped out he was still moving as he came out inside the sac after 5 mins he passed. Then the torture began . They general practitioner n nurses spent 2-3 hrs trying to remove the placenta , used all sort to expand my uterus - forcep, hands , clamps I was in excruciating pain . All this while the gynae n replacement gynae were not available .

They finally got the placenta out n I had to be treated with lots of antibiotics as I was feverish n having short breaths so they gave me that incase of any infection .

Been crying all through , the gynae finally graced us with his presence on Monday night imagine the loss was on sat(no calls or nothing the whole weekend) .

My husband and I asked him for reason for the pre term labour he couldn't give us a specific reason . Just said stress , sex we had a night before or anything .

Let me just stop here ,I am recovering and I pray no one ever experience such treatment as I feel like this could have been controlled and the loss was due to negligence .

I’m so sorry dear. Please be strong! God will surprise you
