Lol so wen I use cotton bud and dip it insyd d portion and use it to touch d affected area, it dries the gum up and the pains ceases temporarily.. I did it all the time and as time went on, pain went..

Hello house,

I've been having this shocking sensation around my gum for 3 months now.

I visited my HMO dental clinic and was told that I should do scaling and polishing which I did. Still the pain remains.

I later went to a Govt Dental hospital to get it checked. Xray was done on my teeth and the Dentist said there's no hole, my teeth is fine. He prescribed drugs. Still the pain persists.

Went back to my HMO and the dentist said something like the enamel has been erased(meaning because I brush too hard). I should get a paste that has a lot of fluoride and was eventually advised to get Sensodyne toothpaste with medium brush. I have been using it for over a month now. Still no difference.

Please what can I do as this shocking pain occurs even if I don't eat. It now gives me headache consistently.

Note the shocking pain is around the pre molars of the right side(up and down) of my teeth

When using the POS, did you select Naira as an option or Dirham? Of course choosen Naira option would automatically declined your transaction, and you are left with the option of going for Dirham. Your bank would charge you in parallel market rate and based on the prevailing exchange rate as at the time you are performing the transaction. To me GTB mastercard is better of, was charged 82naira per dirham for my transaction when i was there last month. Who knows may be the rate might have been higher than wat it was before though. Contact your bank.

I'm not sure that u were over charged trust me. maybe u didn't confirm there rate before using there card. some of these banks rate are higher that black market rate and u won't know until u perform a transaction. sorry for the lose anyways.

Please note, POS transactions are different from ATM withdrawals.
I used SKYE bank ATM in Dubai and was charged 516 naira on ATM withdrawals while POS was at a totally different/outrageous fees.
Point is, it's with all banks.
Some nice shop owners will advice you against POS as means of payment.
An advice; there are some Nigerian guys around Deira that can give you dirham while you transfer money into their Nigerian Bank account. (This option is useful if you can do online/mobile transfer though) .

It's with anger and frustration am using to write this so pls bear with the typos


I opened an account with Fcmb on 31st May 2016 based on recommendation from a colleague who used his atm card for transactions in Dubai.

I was told by fcmb customer service team that I would have my card activated for the period of time I would use in dubai(short visit)

Fcmb also notified me that I would be charged 240(two hundred and forty)naira as service charge per transaction. Which I thought was ok.

Now I'm in Dubai, I was unable to withdraw yesterday. After countless efforts to use the machine, I resolved to using Pos.

I bought some things worth 930dhs and paid using Pos. Note that exchange rate is 94 naira to 1 dhm.

Instead of 87000, I was debited 97000 naira

That's 10,000 naira charge compared to 240 naira I was told.

I have sent a mail to them but no reasonable response yet from Fcmb.
Now I'm even more scared to use my card cos I do not know the amount I would be charged again and it's making me stranded .

Please am using this as a means of reaching fcmb cos I cannot over emphasize on the power of social media.

FCMB should tell me why I would be charged 10,000naira as opposed 240 naira for a Pos transaction.
