Proudlyngwa: Rest.
We are not in a socialist settings.
Government has failed, in a lot of things, but one thing government should never get involved is, is price control, it kills productivity and competition. Why should someone stress himself, go to farm, farm cassava, peel it , process it and government should have influence in the price or any other commodity at all. What will be the motivation for manufacturing if not profits. When people see how profitable a venture is , more people will enter it and competition, will bring the price down.
Government job is to monitor that the are doing the right thing, tax them and sanction them if they offend. This your analogy is incoherent, the main issue responsible for price increase is inflation, govt has every responsibility to drive inflation figures down by good policy reforms, unfortunately the reforms introduced were not properly work out, see the resultant effects on all goods and services. |

Norther Christian go too vote APC in 2027
PBAT has a plan and he's clearly following it through
The massive vote he's getting in 2o27 will be unprecedented. We are already having a glimpse of what the new Nigeria would look like under him by 2031 .keep deceiving yourself. I just bought 4 items in a supermarket now worth about #10,000. 2 loaves of bread for #2500. 320g milk for #3400. And 450 Cadbury Choco for #4100 . These items last 2 years before your Emperor came into power were just about #3000. These are just to show you the level of depreciation in naira and inflation that Nigerians are grasping with. Let's us continue to deceive ourselves and live in denial that all is well. The chicken would soon come to roost. |

Ojuntana: First of all, it is deeply concerning the change in rhetoric that occurs when the teeth of otherwise intelligent and resourceful professional are set on corn. The kind of gibberish that starts to flow is a sign that the corn being offered on a platter is indeed of the fermented stock. It intoxicates the gobbler with a resultant effect that's comparable with that of the famed 40 year whiskey.
That said, I find it insulting to Nigerians and their hardwork and intelligence when people make this silly narratives of fake life or window-dressed realities. This is more so when the people who make these kind of condescending statements are those who have benefited maximally from the society and have not ploughed back what can be said to be commensurate with what they've accrued for themselves from the proverbial cake.
Imagine a situation where a man who after enjoying the benefits of the high office of governor, and while leaving office makes a law that enables him to continue to enjoy the perks of that same office perpetually as if he were still an occupant.
Not only that, choice properties are allocated to him by him. He then turns around to accuse others of living a fake life.
Ditto this particular case as well. A man who was called to rewrite tax laws which will ensure more money goes to the political elites to fund their excesses and lifestyle both in and out of office turns round to accuse others of window dressing their realities.
I make bold to say Nigerians are among the most deprived yet hopeful and hardworking on the surface of the earth.
The average Nigerian has no social infrastructure or welfare system to fall back on in time of crisis save for a strong family structure.
The average Nigerian farmer works with the least of tools. Yet he's been asked to produce crops to feed the populace and export as well.
The average mechanic works with the basic of tools. Yet he's expected to drive innovation in technology.
Same for the average carpenter bricklayer, tailor etc. No program to empower such hardworking Nigerians exist.
Rather, they are dumped on the lowest rung of the ladder and left alone to climb or drown while getting talked down on if they ask for a reprieve.
The UK spends 25% of its budget on social welfare and infrastructure. In countries like Saudi which are oil producing like Nigeria, home ownership is a right.
Shall we speak of countries like Norway where unemployment benefits sometimes exceed employment income for the citizens.
Nigerian leaders and elites are among the most corrupt and wasteful in the world. Yet, they hardly take responsibility for how the country has turned out on their watch. They are a bunch of greedy taskmasters who believe in being unquestionable and unquestioned.
One day na one day sha God bless you. You have said everything |

Oil has actually increased significantly to over $80 in the international market since Biden announced the new sanctions that will prevent almost 1m barrel of crude daily supply to the market. So Biden is the one that plummetted your exchange rate black market from #735 to #1700. You never start. Your black market exchange rate was #735 when you floated it, not the official rate, black marker rate. You destroyed your economy and you are calling Biden, you would call Trump. You never start. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Wumi Tuase Reacts To a Banner She Saw At The Gate Of Lekki Central Mosque. by bjcole(m): 1:38pm On Dec 18, 2024 |
UncleAyo: To the Nigerian Police and all necessary stakeholders,
While individuals and groups have the right to express their beliefs, the content and tone of this banner are provocative and directly challenge the core tenets of the Christian faith. Given the sensitive religious diversity in our society, such a statement has the potential to incite public uproar, disturb communal peace, and cause avoidable tensions between religious groups.
Reasons for Concern:
1. Religious Sensitivity: The message is confrontational and could be seen as an attack on Christian beliefs.
2. Potential for Conflict: Public displays of such messages may provoke strong reactions, leading to unnecessary public disorder or confrontations.
3. Violation of Neutral Spaces: Public spaces should remain neutral and inclusive, fostering respect for all religious beliefs.
In light of the above, I respectfully request the following:
1. The immediate removal of the banner to prevent any form of public disturbance.
2. Appropriate measures to ensure similar provocative displays are not erected in the future.
Ensuring peace, harmony, and respect among citizens of different religious affiliations is of utmost importance. I trust that you will take swift action to address this issue and safeguard the public order. You are not serious at all. You think those that put that banners don't know what they want to achieve |

nairalanda1: MIllei also
1. Froze salaries
2. Cut all subisdies
3. Stopped spending on new projects
4. Sacked a lot of civil servants.
You sure you want that type of leadership for Nigeria?
Tinubu cut subsides only, you people cried. GEJ, Buhari did the same, you guys cried....so why are you praising a leader who cut a lot of subsides?
One governor sacked workers to reduce cost in 2001, you guys removed him from office next elections...so why are you praising a leader who did same.
And the workers and unions in Argentina protested against MIllei. Well well.
Also poverty has gone up in Argentina, the only benefit is hopefully the country is ready for investment. You analogy is impecunious, Tinubu removed subsidy and concocted a monstrous and colossal problem by floating the naira. Naira skyrocketing from #700 to #1900 was reason for the bad economy |
