TravelRe: Togo, A Small And Peaceful Country. by blackboifab: 12:38pm On Jul 06, 2023
MiztaDynameek:
I have a very close friend who has been working with a shipping company in Togo for years. I visited Togo a few times to see my friend and he has been disturbing me to come join their company and relocate to Togo. At first I was reluctant about relocating but with the way things have been going in Nigeria and all the security challenges, I finally relocated to Lome, Togo.

Togo is a very small but organized and peaceful country. There is 24/7 light, good security, nice beaches and a very groovy night life. Depends on the kind of accommodation you want to stay and the environment you want, I can say accommodation in Togo is relatively affordable. You can get a decent room self contained for 10,000cfa per month or a very nice room and parlor self contained for 25,000-30,000cfa per month. Most landlords accept from 8months to 12months rent once getting a house. They hold part as a deposit and once the remaining one elapses you start paying per month.

Food and transportation is very affordable in Togo. There is one of their very popular meal they don't joke with and it's called Akume. It is made from grinded maize (almost like semovita) and can be eaten with variety of soups like Egbesese, Ademe, okro, palmnut soup etc. Just that they are not use to our Nigerian kind of soups like eguise, Ogbono, ewedu etc, you can also enjoy this Akume with these Nigerian soups. There are also many other different kind of Togo meals you can enjoy while here.
As for transportation, there are bike riders everywhere and there are also taxis that are relatively cheap and affordable. Almost everywhere seem to have a fixed price so once you know where you want to go and the price, you don't have to argue with any transporter. One of the major challenges here in Togo is just the language barrier. They mostly speak their local language or French and hardly understand or speak English. So most times once you speak English they automatically refer to you as Igbo because they call all Nigerians here Igbo or Anago (Yoruba).

Many Nigerians live in Togo and are doing very well because it is a very peaceful country and the Togolese people respect Nigerians alot. Most of the major markets in Togo are dominated by Nigerians (mostly Igbos). They dominate the clothing business, spare part and major wholesale sectors.

There are nice Nigerian owned restaurant and bars if you wish to enjoy some naija meals, isi ewu, nkwobi, pepper soup and lots more. You can also hand out at the beaches or some very crazy night bars like Agbekoko, baguida monument, Molo Molo and lots more. These places are sometimes open from dusk to dawn but nights are always groovy till morning with lots of girls to select from and have fun. If you feel like having some fun with any lady just hit one of these places and you won't be disappointed. Language is not a barrier in these places just learn how to say lajan and chuku chuku, amezon etc.

So far so good since I relocated here I just love the peace of mind, steady light and the safe night life. I will update more as time goes on.
Are you still in Togo pls I like to speak with you here

oga, there are so many factors people relocate. Electricity, security, and sense of acceptance could be the reason. I can't drive my Benz here in peace without police always stopping me to harass me and think I can't buy a car. Who does that? At a point police officers told me to enter my car so they can search me in the bush. In this country. All because I drive a Mercedes. Lot of corruption, my prepaid metre reads twice, at a point I complained they took my metre and refused to return it, and put me on monthly billing, these guys will bring any amount they want, in 24 hrs I only get 6 hrs of light, sometimes 3 hrs. After shouting and calling people I know, they brought it back, and it started reading three times more. you won't understand. I bought solar inverter 700k, last year, I was still using NEPA light to charge it. Sometimes I go use gen because sun no dey come out during rainy season. Since yester it has been raining, no light, but I have inverter, but na gen I dey use. You won't understand, I have alot of clients, I need to deliver my projects every 24 hrs, any interruption with electricity ruined my life. My desktop is an expensive one, my Rtx 3070 chops power like madt, explaining all these things is long story. The bottom line is I have tried everything possible. If you think solar is that good, why don't Americans who do it disconnect their electricity and use solar? Nothing beats normal electricity
Na Boss you been no much talk
TravelRe: How To Get To Togo From Lagos By Road For Business by blackboifab: 10:40pm On Sep 03, 2020
gentlebullet:
Lome is less than 5 minutes drive to Aflao (border between Togo and Ghana) when you get to the border, you will cross on foot to the Ghana side passing through immigration and customs post on both sides. Then you take a long walk to the STC inter-city bus park, buy a ticket to Accra for Ghc28, wait for the bus that will convey you to Accra, board when bus is available and then the almost 5hours drive to Accra begins.
The bus will stop at the first custom check point at Dabala junction (they check for goods and weapons) all passengers will disembark for the check of luggages. Then the next and last stop is immigration and customs check point at Sogakope( they check for goods, weapons and passport and ID card of passengers).
When you get to Accra, the driver will inform passengers to indicate where they intend to alight, if you are going to the bus park, then you will alight at Tudu. I think you will need to find your way to your final destination in Accra from there. CHEERS
Useful cheers
